Oh was it offside? Wasn't looking
Tbf thought most of them were suspect we sit line with the box and the linesman was waiting till the ball was played instead of when the ball was kicked/passed.
One of them beavon was being pushed in the back by their defender who was goalside how on earth that can ever be offside is beyond me.

I think the criticism against McNulty is slighty unfair. Currently he is scoring a goal in every 3 games. Ideally this will get up to a goal in every 2 by the end of this year.

The real problem is how Robins is setting the team up to create attacking opportunities.

This team has no creativity, nobody who can bring an attack from midfield all the way to the strikers. There's no pace or gile from the middle section of the team.

Jan window is very important to address this. Judging from Robins last night these will be young Premier League or Championship youth players.

They were rubbish and we did our best to match them. The ref was also rubbish which didn't help, how they were allowed to get away with time wasting like they did I can't understand. They even called the physio on at one point who just ambled across the pitch with no urgency whatsoever.

Saying that we had enough chances to win it. McNulty and Beavon both seem to want to walk it in and Duck is determined to shoot every time he has the ball.

Doyle's deficiencies were really shown up without Kelly in the side. I'd be tempted to try Kelly and Stevenson but I don't think Robins will drop Doyle.
Well, yep, I agree with you and I know McNulty scored and could have scored more, but he just doesn't seem to have the goalscoring instinct. Until he scored today, every time he got the ball in the box it was like he had never ever seen goalposts and the net in-between them before. He seemed most reluctant to shoot and just seemed to want to walk the ball into the net.

I think mcnulty is good and cant see why he gets stick
As I just mentioned though, he far too many times was trying to walk the ball into the net today. His movement was good and he was getting in very dangerous positions, but he lacked that killer instinct in front of goal.

For strikers it's confidence. He has now scored in back to back games. Hopefully the killer instinct will start.

Very frustrating day and top it off my missus says her and the daughter are waiting for me at the Arena shopping centre after the game. So, I go and meet them and ask where the car is and she says she left it where they left me, right down the end of the road of Lythall's Lane where it meets the road going into the Arena by Burger King. They just parked up and went shopping. Of course we came back to the car to find a parking ticket and a £70 fine.

Don't mean to be mean, but how dumb is that? As I said to her, why does she think I don't just take the car and park up myself every week? Why does she come and collect me most matches? She just looked at me gone out.

It’s £35 if you pay in 14 days

Dunno, guessing not many.

That said, how many other league two games are a single city football team with a population of 320k plus a warwickshire (550k+)?

I know there's lots of mitigating circumstances, league two, shit football, cost, NOPM, but 6381 is poor for a club that sees themselves as a big club and took 42k to Wembley 6 months ago.

On another note, not one rendition of the sky blue song today.

Wonder whether the actual attendance was lower? As we know the figure includes all ST holders, many of whom may have abstained today with the combinatiob of the cold temperature, crap oppo, bad injury newe, Black Friday sales on etc.

Yeah, I know, but haven't told the missus that as I want to milk her incompetence. ;)
Tell her to give you the £70 and you'll sort the fine out with your superior ability as a native Enflish speaker to fill in thr fine payment form....then send it in within the 14 days and trouser the £35!

Sounds like a plan!

This club is destined for the end isn't it!?

From what I've heard from people that went today, even the loyal supporters are near the end of their tether!

Now this might sound like sour grapes, but I assure you it isn't, but if Coventry City played the way Crawley set out today I would no longer go up. It's stuff like this that kills the game and spoils any entertainment.

It's outrageous to be honest and Clive Eakin first mentioned them time wasting after just 8 minutes. They seemingly set out with no intention of winning the game whatsoever. I know it's our job to break them down, but I would be quite embarrassed if we set out our stall in such a fashion.

Call me a purist, but I do like to see the game played in the right spirit if at all possible and it's stuff like this that actually turns me away from liking football. Hate to see it. I would hate to see City play that way too.

Fine, time waste with 15 mins left and you are trying to grind out a result, but to do so at every turn and from such an early point in the game just totally spoils the spectacle for me.

It seems so much worse in League Two.

I thought they posed out defence more threat than most teams we’ve played at home.

Awful performance!
After 10 minutes it was plain to see that they were the worse team to come to the Ricoh.
After 20 mins you could see that we weren’t much better . No idea up front ,inept on the ball , slow and indecisive
It must be the weakest attack I’ve seen in sky blue shirts . Full marks to block 15for singing “up the league we go “ after we had equalised , good support like that carries teams through the bad times . Realising now why I didn’t get a season ticket. Think I’ll give it a miss til we get some more players in . Very disappointing

Which is kind of my point. I think if they had approached the game in a more positive manner they might have beaten us quite easily.

Well that was the one of the worst first half displays seen this season and that says something considering we saw FGR, Newport and, Colchester.

The system certainly didn’t work in way shape or form. I’m shocked that Robins felt he could play this system with a couple of days maximum of training. Was exposed badly, against a better we would have ripped to shreds.

Luckily it took an awful Crawley team 20 mins to realise they have nothing to fear and over run our midfield and got behind our wing backs. Our centre backs were pulled so wide apart, didn’t move across as a three at all.

Fair play to Robins for changing it at half time (takes courage to realise he made a huge mistake) and making the personnel changes ie Stevenson for Davies.

If only we had started with tried and tested system we would have won this match and may not even have conceded.

Still it’s a point, a point I didn’t expect at half time as what we had just finished we were never looked like scoring.

Just seen the highlights and it was indeed a cracking goal by McNulty who still had lots to do from the poor pass by Nazon. Great take control on chest and hit It on the half volley into top right corner.

Player ratings

Burge 5....didn’t have much to do, but kicking and general distribution awfull. Doesn’t look comfortable. liability.
Grimmer ...6.....Good energy, some decent stuff but also some very poor crosses at the death.
Willis 7.....Thought he had a brilliant game. Mopped up everything at the back.
McDonald....6....If only he had pace he would be playing championship. Poor late challenge could have been costly.
Haynes...6...how he was MOTM I will never know. One good cross apart from that not a lot. Did not use his pace.
Shipley....6
Doyle......5.....Distribution way too slow. As other have said looks spent.
Nazon.....5.....His touch was very poor. What was he trying to do with fancy flick when defending...missed a couple of good chances. Even his assist was an awfull pass that McNulty made good of.
McNulty...7.....Great goal....apart from that not a lot.
Beavon....7.....Easily our best player in the first half. Control and touch/passing was excellent. Put Nazon to shame.

Stevenson 7...Good to get someone to get on the ball controll...hold and pass it. Time on the ball. Something Shipley isn’t suited to.

Robins First half 5....Second half...8.

Big opportunity missed. Would have been devastated if we had lost against that shit team.

Referee...Was the worst I have seen, clueless, he had lost the plot at the end. Has to be held accountable. How he only added 6 mins injury time was beyond belief. He was not strong enough to referee professionally.

I was questioning why I bought season ticket half time. First time this season.

Was thinking away only. At least you get a great atmosphere if nothing else.

Teams will look at us and know we offer nothing in the first half. We have s negative midfield and zero pace. Teams will set to nullify us and strangle the game.

You made some reference they weren’t interested - that’s not remotely true. The defence was rigid and totally organised. They slowed things down

It’s up to the offensive team to break it down. We can’t as we are nit glide enough and if we have a defensive midfield set up for games like this we deserve all we get.

For once a sensible call happened on CWR. The caller says robins should be hauled in on Monday and be told the standard of football isn’t good enough the results aren’t good enough and sort it out by the end of December or join the dole queue.

They weren't interested at all in taking the ball forwards first 15 mins. Zero ambition. Both Eakin and Garry Thompson said the same in the commentary. Crawley showed no interest at all for the first quarter of the match and they may have tried to nullify us, but we hit the post and if Nazon wasn't so greedy and skipped the ball to McNulty instead we would have probably been 1-0 up.
