Initial contact was outside the area and biamou was desperately looking for it.
Which doesn't mean it's not a penalty. I agree initial contact is outside the box but I don't think he is desperately looking for it, once the defender leaves the ground and puts his weight on Biamou's right shoulder the rest is inevitable.

What is Willis doing again for that goal... Schoolboy communication between Stokes and McDonald to start with and they shoulder primary responsibility for conceding but watch Willis and Eisa. Willis uses his pace to get back superbly and then does what he's done so often this season, gets drawn towards the ball instead of marking his man. Eisa is the only man in the box, mark him tight there and he stops the goal irrespective of the terrible initial defending by Stokes and McDonald. Always seems to be an issue when he's running back towards his own goal.

The more I see it the more is a soft goal to give away. Yes stokes and Mcdonald big miscommunication is not good but Willis does well to recover gets goal side of him, can see him and mark him. then let's him drift off out of sight to pop out to receive the ball, for Willis to go rushing in committing himself to the ground for Eisa to fool him and smash home.

If Willis remains touch tight or has him insight the shot becomes preventable. He switched off at the vital second.

Disappointing.

Because Biamou is leaning into him.
You're not going to convince me. Not just on that grassy knoll evidence. I need the book depository building view.

Have we got a Lee Harvey Oswald in the main stand?
Is biamou leaning into him or is he being pulled off balance and is falling into him? Fine line, and from the clear pulling outside the thr box you could argue the second scenario quite convincingly. Even if its not a pen, its a foul outside the box and a red card.

The defender only releases Biamou's arm after he's fallen - Biamou isn't leaning in, he's being pulled down.

Seeing it live it looked very different. A striker with confidence would have powered through and not shove himself up the defenders backside to try and get a penalty. His appeal afterwards was even lacklustre.

Yep. You can conjure up all the still shots in the world, but it needs to be seen in real time and at real time pace.

The ref was right not to give a penalty based on that and Biamou DOES go down far too easily.

Right, that's sorted then.

Pen.
Players will often whinge or moan to the ref at the time. I’m not sue too many would bother to continue the conversation instead of going straight down the tunnel. For what it’s worth, at the time I felt he went down far too easily. The video does suggest there is some holding going on but, like you said, you could do with seeing it from the other side.

Just a thought on penalties. We rarely seem to get any at all. Last season, did we have one in the league? This season, almost half way through we have had none. A consequence of not having the ball in the box enough perhaps or are referees just giving less penalties? Compared to McSheffrey’s first spell here when he seemed to regularly “win” penalties, we are in a drought.

There have been a few shouts, not many for us in the league. I think McNulty scored one in the cup.

There was the one at Swindon the same against Biamou where he got taken out the same.

The officials in this league seem to be shit scared, you can see linos not knowing which way to give a throw in so they wait for the ref to give it before they flag.

Thats my biggest hate with Linos. its normally on pretty standard calls they get it wrong or wait for the ref.

Depends heavily on our players being in the box - two words not often associated together with the team this year - and secondary the complete impotence of the linos and the the corresponding increase in referees weight as you go down the league thereby not keeping up with play !
