There is the winger/attacking player (although his goal scoring record is as good as a striker)
Well done MR.
Striker next please.

That tells me that Nazon is probably off.
I think Nazon doesn't want to stay with us. Robins almost certainly knows this
Looking at the two Barrett goals someone else posted on this thread they look like right foot versions of Jodi Jones' goals
Barrett looks to be just the type of player we're looking for to cover Andreu and Jones
Ponti should get more opportunities once the Duke goes

Attacking midfielder/winger who score goals. We would be screaming at MR to play him if he had that record in our U23s, so in my eyes it seems a good move. We are unlikely to recruit an established player of that ilk from Prem, Championship, or even League 1, so up and coming players like this was always likely to be the way. Fingers crossed - and nice to see it get done early, as it suggests that it is someone we want, rather than the bottom of the barrel 5 mins before the deadline.

Good luck to the lad, I hope he does well here.
However if I was ponticelli I’d be telling my agent to get me the fuck out of this place!
But what we have seen is that Ponticelli certainly isn't ready or good enough to start ousting senior players no matter i that they aren't scoring

From what I've seen from Ponti this season, I'm far from impressed. He was almost graced as being the next messiah at the beginning of the campaign and since then his performances have gone downhill. Hopefully Barrett coming in will shake him up enough to get him performing to the level everyone knows he can play at.

Ponticelli has come into in my opinion an average at best side playing perhaps nescesarily a defensive formation, I’ll judge him when our team formation is more positive.

If he's come in to an 'average at best' side (one who is an above average place in the league table and has beaten a number of above average teams), surely he'd stand out more?

Surprised any loan has been agreed considering the impending financial doom at the club according to you

He doesn't play in the same position as Barrett either.

Barrett has been used as a striker/forward in the past though? He's either been labeled as a forward OR a midfielder throughout his youth career. Robins has played Ponti in similar positions this season so your sarcasm is completely misguided.

Ponticelli is an out and out striker as opposed to a creative midfielder who will make things happen.

We might as well get angry that Bayliss started last game and Ponticelli didn't as well.

Heard the name before but don’t know much about him. Looking at the videos and goal scoring record people have posted seems a good acquisition and a much needed option further up the pitch after Jones and Andreu our most creative players being sidelined

We could very well throw our toys out the pram about it but that fact of the matter is Barrett is a versatile attacking player that can either play as a striker/forward or a creative midfielder - Bayliss isn't.

Robins has utilised Ponti in the No. 9 position as well as out wide - where Barrett has similarly been known to play. It's more than likely he'll play in the No.10. role as that's where it's reported he's most effective. But to dismiss my point of the two players having no link is simply wrong.

Ponticelli has gone out wide for periods if we make a change rather than starting there, it's more to accommodate other strikers. Last few games Ponticelli hasn't made the bench, which is before the new bloke has come in.

If this guy can come in and make a real difference then it doesn't matter too much as to who he replaces, I don't think he will be like for like competition for the strikers though.

Striker would be a bonus but not the priority. A couple of wingers would be ideal now. Hopefully this kid can be our replacement for Andreu.

No he definitely wouldn't be a like for like, I'd highly doubt he'd cement himself as our starting No.9 considering McNulty's current form. However, I'd still argue he'd be a competitor to Ponti. Maybe not a direct competitor but taking into account his similar age and similar playing positions, a competitor all the same.

Barrett is clearly a versatile player as I previously mentioned. From reports he's been predominately used throughout his career out wide, as a No.9. or a No.10 hence his label as a 'forward'. Ponti has regularly played 2 out of the 3 positions detailed, so if hypothetically Barrett is doing well as you mentioned, Ponti will be remaining off the bench - especially as another forward is likely to be brought it.

And hopefully he'll get a few days training with the team before he's eligible to play.
And to comment on Ponticelli, from what I have seen he is the sort of player who picks up on chances created by others so he ought to benefit

Agree. Honestly can't see much of a threat from Barrett to Ponticelli and can see no reason why they both couldn't play anyway.

This is the right kind of signing we are after. Obviously it is going to be a gamble, but these can pay off. We need creative players in, so now we've got this lad, if we can get a winger or two that will be really good business depending on what outgoings we have.

Reading (not the place) many of comments on the Cov Telegraph Facebook page had me in awe (but not surprise). Meltdown central on there again. If they're not asking Dale when his bid is going through, they are complaining that Burge got played instead of Ponticelli again.

Maybe we should just wait and see what position / role he’s given.
And if he fits the bill and is any good or not. One thing though, if our academy is a hot bed of talent like everyone keeps banging on about-why are we going to get a player from Readings to put in the team?
