What important, or great goals have you missed over the years? (5 Viewers)

Due to either being late into the ground/left early, gone for a pee, gone for a beer, or been distracted by someone or something else going on in the crowd etc.?

Ever missed anything major or brilliant?

Out of all the landmark games / moments I have missed the 3-2 v Man Utd (Huckerby) game stands out the most.
I remember City playing Blackpool in the FA Cup and it was 1-1 and boring, so we left with just a few minutes to go.

City then scored twice and we won 3-1.

I missed the 6-1 away win at Walsall (Eric blacks first game) As I had exams and my mum wouldn't let me go even though I had tickets.

My grandad had a season ticket in the main stand, mine was in the west terrace, for some reason for one particular game he was giving me a lift afterwards, and he told me not to be late back to the car. So I left the Spurs game at 3:3, but from reading the recent threads it would appear there was another goal that was quite exciting.

Only time I've seen us win at Goodison I managed to miss both goals of a 2-0 win. Arrived about 15 minutes late and we'd got both by then. 1994 I think.

George Thomas Wembley. Was finishing off a pint in the concourse when my mate turned round to me and said we'd better hurry up they've kicked off. My reply was do you really think we're going to score another. And as I finished the sentence came the roar . Then for some strange reason we all ran back in as if we were going to see it again. Best goal I've ever missed!

Brian Joicey’s early winner at Molineux in 1970 that took us into Europe – got caught in traffic & arrived just in time to see & hear the goal celebrations of the City fans from outside the ground ☹

Ernie’s “donkey kick” – just about the only home game I missed that year, because of some kind of school event. Bastards! Thankfully the cameras were there for Match of the Day (which really was just one match in those days), or that goal only have been seen by 30,000 people in the world. Come to think of it, I wonder if Willie & Ernie deliberately saved up the routine for the MOTD cameras - even more genius if so. If it wasn’t on film, by now it would have been exaggerated by legend into a 40-yard effort with a double back somersault.

It was better than that

I missed all the 87 qtr final goals because I couldn't get on to the dangerously over-sold (and as it subsequently turned out, lethal) Leppings Lane Terrace.

Sorry to hear you missed that brilliant game, but yes it was dangerous alright - swept off my feet a number of times that day. In hindsight, I wish I'd raised a complaint or raised it with an MP or something, but it would have been futile. And it wasn't only that ground where it used to happen. Personally, I think standing areas are far more fun and can be safe, it's just a question of making sure the numbers are sensible.

Not an important game but I remember being at City vs Arsenal on the West Terrace mid 90s. We were 1-0 down and I was going to the toilet in the bottom corner of the stand next to the main stand. Just as I came out, I think it was Hartson who scored and equaliser that I didn’t see. I jumped on the fence that was between both stands as he celebrated in front of the West Terrace.

Yup, that was the big one I missed too as my bladder got the better of me !
I also missed a Wallace goal years ago when my Grandad dragged me out early to miss the traffic, I think it was his hatrick and City's 4th in a 4-0 demolition of Southampton !

It was over sold and dangerous . I was in the left hand corner looking at the pitch and it was rammed. Missed the first ten minuites trying to get in.
Agreed, I was also in that left hand corner and after Houchen made it 2-1 I was carried by the crowd, with my feet not touching the floor until after the final whistle.

Yes getting in was a problem that is due to so few turnstiles and everyone arriving at the same time 2.30 pubs closed.
As for room we were in the top left hand corner and had pleanty of room.

That's not how I remember it. I tried every tunnel and couldn't get more than a glimpse.
Should have used the stairs at the side took youbto the top of the terrace.
We had our 76 year old father with us so couldn't have put up with the couch.
