Well said.
Some on here have faith one week , none the next, faith some months none the next. They jump from one bandwagon to another. two extremes after one loss or a win.
I am certainly not like that, but can fully understand why some are. We keep winning our home games and keep losing away games.
That is the definition of from one extreme to another.
It is most baffling how we can beat all the teams at the top and then lose to teams at the bottom.
I know someone posted that it's better to not lose against the top sides, as then we are not letting them gain points on us, but the bigger picture is that if we can beat all those sides at the top there is no excuse at all for losing to sides at the other end of the table.
Still galling me that Robins has admitted that Forest Green were first to every ball on Saturday. Why? Why were they first to every ball?
Is their desire to avoid relegation any stronger than our desire for promotion?
We seriously need to address this. As the season wears on the teams at the bottom are going to fight harder and harder and battle more and more. We have to compete with that and show the exact same level of desire as them and our away form has to improve.
We may still only be 4 points from the automatic positions, but ...
1. We have lost substantially more games than the top 4 teams (6, 7, 6, 5 to our 10)
2. Our away form isn't good enough.
3. Every time we get really close to the top 3 we then fail and fall back down the table again
4. We haven't had an unbeaten run past 4 games. Mansfield at the moment are on a run of just 1 defeat in 16.
If we are happy just being the playoffs we probably will just make it okay, but if we have designs on the top 3, which we surely should have, there needs to be a substantial improvement.
For me it should be top 3, that has to be our aim. I am not at all confident about winning through the play-offs.
For me, every time we win at home I am obviously cheered and think we should be able to kick on from there (especially when the next game is against a team right down at the bottom).
I don't automatically believe we are going to be top 3 after a win and by the same token I don't think we won't make the playoffs after a loss.
Every time we lose to the likes of Forest Green however, I think it is right to question how we are set up tactically in away games and our application going into those matches.
It's great if we get a reaction at home again to Accrington, but then of course it would be absolutely correct to question it all if we then followed it up 3 days later against Colchester away and the application was all wrong again and we lost to a team that wanted it more than us.
I keep saying, we need an unbeaten run. At the moment we are very inconsistent and that surely cannot fill anyone with any degree of faith that we are destined to make the top 7.
