You can make an educated guess based on signings, existing players, etc. Probably below Luton & Mansfield significantly. Possibly below Swindon. Above most others I would think.
Errr hang on. The word on here was that we were scrimping by not signing Collins or that non league bloke who ended up at Stevenage? Or has that changed now rentamob want Robins Out?

No. His record is better than any manager we've had for many years.

Do Cov fans ever learn? The same knee jerk "let's sack him" shite every time. All based on this idea that we're rich in resource!? He's missing a number of players you'd expect to see in the side. Give the bloke a break and grow up.

I love it when people say "grow up" to those with a different opinion. Adds literally nothing to your argument. In fact, it detracts from it.

That, or now that McNulty has more goals than both of them...

I'm interested to know where the feeling is on this. Three poor performances & results on the bounce with 3 difficult games coming up. I can personally see this run being extended to 0 wins in 6 (or 7 if you include Brighton). Just don't see that we have what it takes tactically to win at the moment, despite having a decent squad (even after injuries).

You can tell where I am on this, but this isn't a reaction to the last few games, I just think we've been tactically naïve all season, even through our better periods.

Edit: For those that vote no, would be interested to know if you'd have a different opinion if we didn't win any of the next 3 league games.

Thats the problem with our club we have fans who appear out the wood work as soon as theres a hint of doom and gloom. Pathetic

I don't get your argument. Seems completely out of context. Are you suggesting that I've appeared out of nowhere? I post in fits and starts but just as much when we are winning, and am a moderator on here so hardly hidden from view. You can disagree with my opinion but don't just make stuff up.

Really? Based on what? Certainly not team performance. We are underachieving and surely everyone would have a breaking point somewhere.

Well, the season isn't over yet and this could just be a wobble. We've put this team together over one summer, and with long-term injuries to key players like Jones and Andreu, I think he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt.

He's also proving well at utilising our academy products, that's another plus for me.

i get an idea of what player budget City have when we get to Jan transfer window and we get rubbish and/or average players. Why does that keep happening every season? just bad luck?

I think generally the budget is used. I think it's a better indicator that we aren't having to sell our better players .

For this season? We didn't need to sign permanent players in the positions we did. Jones and Andreu are still at the club, but are injured. So your options in replacing them are loans or free agents on short contracts. We nearly signed Craig Davies, who's on 11 goals in L1, and ended up with Clarke-Harris, and we'll see how he gets on...

Can't disagree too much with that. He has been undoubtedly unlucky with injuries, and has introduced Bayliss. There are positives. As I've said though, my issue is more with tactics than results specifically. If he could adjust, I'd be thrilled. I like the guy and would love him to succeed but I don't want us to react too late. If we miss out this year it will be more difficult next year.

Nice to see an argument that isn't just "grow up" or "crawled out the woodwork" or any other nonsense/non-argument.

However, form is a worry but the biggest concern I have is that when it clearly isn’t working, Robins doesn’t seem to change it round or have a plan B

For me, I think he deserves time to turn it around and I have seen enough good spells to give him that time for now so I’m keeping the faith

I see why people are frustrated, I am too. Even with injuries, we should be doing better against the sides lower down the division. But, some Newport County poster did warn us that this was the nature of the league. The proof is in the pudding, not many teams bounce straight back up and I think we've got the right ingredients - especially with a few more additions - to get promoted next year, if not this year.

The promising thing for us, is that most of our key players are under contract, so there's no need to cash in. Interest in Jones would've cooled because he'll be coming back from a nasty injury. The only worry is Bayliss not signing a contract, but at least he won't go for absolutely nothing.

I understand the urgency for us to get out of this league, but if you look at the bigger picture, there's cause for optimism.

I think he should be sacked NOW....

....and then rehired when a couple of successors have fucked it up too

Managers often get themselves sacked by stubbornly sticking to failing methods of play, that’s what Robins is doing, we see it’s not working and poor on the eye the players will as well I think he’s lost the dressing room and don’t think the players are playing for him just my opinion. If results dont pick up in the next couple of. weeks he may resign.
As for a successor Michael Doyle and why not.

Yep and get in Sammy Lee from Everton as his assistant, merely for the simple fact that my missus is very old fashioned and we have loads of these around the house.

I hate them, but she would be very happy to have another Doyle Lee about.

Anyone else have a sense of De ja vu? In our first season in the championship - we were top until we lost our assistant manager, hired a new one and ended the season disasterously.

I’m pretty sure our record was 20 wins and 20 defeats then aswell... our seasons seem carbon copy every season

He's been doing the same thing all season Nick. When it works, great, but when it doesn't we never seem to have anything different to try. There have been many games where we've seen Biamou taken off and the ball continued to be hoofed high & long to five-foot-something strikers, for example.

Is it Robins doing the hoofing? Or players like Doyle? But to be fair one of his hoofs forward did turn into a spectacular goal.

Players are more responsible about what actually happens in game time than the manager.

Another view is who do we actually miss out on in January? In league 1 and 2 it is dross that is available or you are gambling on kids.

You would think a manager would see his players kick it out of play from kick offs and stop it happening.

What's done in training if it's just down to players not the manager?

I just want to see some initiative and a bit of bottle from him to attack teams and try to win games. It's all well an good saying the players are mentally weak but when they are playing week in, week out such negative football relying on McNulty to get a goal from outside the box or goals against the run of play that we don't really deserve it is going to get to them.

Why does it take us to go one nil down at half time to start trying to play football a bit? Why does he never want to try and change the game in any way positively?

Teams who were around us won't be settling for draws.

Still a no about sacking, but want to see things improve or at least look as if he is trying to change the approach. The first time Kelly got the ball from kickoff and launched it out of play Robins should have been fuming (ideally it would have been months ago when we started doing it) but things like that need to be cut out.
