There's a gorgeous Polish woman on my round, and I have a laugh/banter with her. I thought she was single with a little girl and as she's in her 40's I was thinking I wonder if I should ask her out ? I was cleaning her windows recently when a huge bloke came out and said hello in a Polish accent.
It was her husband and he's a doorman. Good job I never took her out for a drink ! But these Polish women are attractive, but this one is a teaser !

The sexy Polish woman was out today. Her husband was in and was grumpy so missed the banter. He looks like one of those Russian Ultras that caused mayhem in France, so I think I'll stop having a laugh with his missus. End up with my bucket stuck on my head !

I hadn't listened to it for over 20 years as I only had it on vinyl but since my wife bought me a record player I have been going through my vinyl albums. I was never really taken with Animals but have listened to it about 3-4 times. I have listened to Meddle twice but it's staying on a bit longer, not sure when I'll put Relics on or if I'll put Ummagumma on though.

Love Pink Floyd but got just one album of theirs on vinyl. Relics, cracking album though with my favourite ever Floyd song See Emily Play on it. Just need a record player to play it on !

Been listening to some 60's music lately. It was not just about the Stones and Beatles, bands like the Searchers,Troggs,Dave Clark Five, Easybeats, Manfred Mann, they produced good pop/rock songs too.
And never listened much to her at the time but Dusty Springfield had an awesome voice.

BBR, if you have a PC and headphones like me, have a listen to these stations. There is NO talking! Just pure oldies! Non-stop, 24 hours. They are really good and the sound quality is superb. They play stuff I'd forgotten about and stuff I've not heard before. Really good listening. I think they are either US based or Australia?

Yeah John Martyn was fantastic. Saw him half dozen times when I was at uni in late 70s. Always when he finished his gig he went to nearest bar and continued singing as long as students kept buying him drinks...until he and his guitar slumped over in the early hours.

That's a great little anecdote. Also rather sad when it was the drink and drugs that eventually killed him off.
Only got to see him towards the end and it had taken it's toll. He was still very good though.
His first couple of albums were with a girl from Coventry who he married called Beverley Kutner. John and Beverley Martyn.

Yes it was a shame re the drink and drugs. It just fuelled him then killed him Such a talent. I feel lucky to have seen him when I did. I remember the first time a guy who lived in the same block at uni as me said you must come to this...if I’m honest at the time I had hardly heard of him or his music...so I tagged along with low expectations. Was blown away.

Had a look. She left Coventry aged 15 and went to London. Hooked up with Bert Jansch who introduced her to Paul Simon. He got her on the bill at the Monterey pop festival alongside Hendrix, Otis Redding and The Who etc

Two guitarists I remember from the 1960's/1970's Coventry folk-music scene. Saw them quite a few times at folk clubs in and around Coventry.
John Shanahan was the guy who did a very good version of "May You Never". Dave Bennett was brilliant at ragtime guitar.

A little off topic but me and my work mate used to clean windows down by the Bulls Head pub in Binley.
We cleaned a row of big houses opposite the pub and one chap who was always writing as we cleaned his windows came out with some tea and was a friendly type. We asked him if he was an author ? He told us he was a music writer specialising in the folk scene etc.
His name was Pete Willow and wrote a column in the Telegraph I recall ? Think he's since passed away ?

If you Google 'Pete Willow Coventry', he pops up. He is on Facebook and it says he is retired. Could not find much more about him, but then I didn't look very hard.
The Bulls Head in Binley used to have regular Folk nights.

Another charity shop visit the other day. A various collection, but one was a compilation of singers. I never knew just like Dusty Springfield that Cher did Rock type songs, she is better than I thought !

On BBC 4 now is a great film on Johnny Cash featuring Bob Dylan. Following after is a film on Dylan. Great stuff !

Been reading about Johnny Cash. He liked his drink and drugs and he had an addiction for decades. The film on BBC 4 was good, early on in his career in the 60's. The Dylan film was his conversion to Christianity, and it divided his fans.
