SISU - an improvement? (6 Viewers)

What's the emotional part of it? For me the owners are an irrelevance. They have no impact on my emotions. The way the team performs on the pitch to, but my emotional link with the team overrides any desire to walk away. I see doing that as bit of a cop out really.

I see the point you are making, but everyone has their own moral boundaries. As we see on here people measure performances differently. Key for me people measure expectation differently!

It's funny that the moral boundaries are obviously moved when a trip to Wembley is on.
If the team is doing ok then less people will moan about the owners. If we get promoted there will be no threads on here berating Sisu. It's all about winning games.

if doing ok is a win in a cup competition for the bottom 2 EFL leagues and 2 relegations, then we are doing ok...

Exactly. For you. This may come as a shock but someone has to break it to you so it may as well be me. Not everyone is an emotional carbon copy of you. Different people have different emotional barriers and therefore have different breaking points. You haven’t reached yours yet and as a matter of fact neither have I, doesn’t mean no one else has.

Ask that question to the 40000 fans at Wembley. It was obviously ok for them.

There’s only one of us trying to be a smart arse and it isn’t me. I’ve talked about the human condition in the most basic of terms and because you can’t argue those most basic of terms you’re trying to be a smart arse by pretending that I’m trying to be a smart arse. Unless of course you actually do believe that everyone is an emotional carbon copy of yourself, which I doubt, given your response to the point. I’m not falling for it personally but I guess some will.

I said 'for me' in my original post for exactly that reason. I recognised that people are different. You then did your smart arse act for some reason.

What's that got to do with the morality of fans you dweeb?

Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

it shows they don't support the actions of the clubs owners, by not being at the games week in and week out.

It shows that the Northampton season had a huge effect on many peoples love affair with ccfc

it shows that in a one off game, we have a huge support that with the right owners and the right set up, we could be a huge club

no need for the name calling,

No it shows we are in league two and fans don’t see that as attractive to go. If you follow your own argument you’d say we’d get the same crowds whatever division we are in under these owners

Huge club? Lincoln had 30,000 at Wembley - a much higher percentage than us of total population. Are they a huge club as well?

What you actually said was

You’re taking how you feel and using it as a datum point to judge others. How you feel is only relevant to how you feel and completely irrelevant to how others feel. You’re labelling their decision as a cop out when you obviously have no interest in understanding how they reached that point because in your black and white view you’re right and everyone else is a cop out.

How many season ticket holders did we have last season? What was our average home gate?

That’s because of our league status Tony nothing to do with the owners.

Well I'm somebody's grandad and I did go to Sixfields for that very reason. I knew that if i stopped going I might not return. I don't know how many more seasons I'll be fit enough to go so I will not sit around waiting for SISU to go however much I despise what they have done.
Bottom line though is we still have a club to support.
Had a season ticket at Sixfields for City also, Someone had to support the very young team we had. I supported the Team not the Regime and I certainly don't regret it.
One particular game which did get on my nerves was the MK Dons away that season, where we had 7.5k fans going and filling the coffers of a franchised team, yet at the time some City fans were worried that we would become a franchise team and were dead against it (rightly so), but still went to MK:Stadium, hypocrisy.
I fuckin hate MK dons for the same reason I hate London wasps, they rip up a fanbase and move 100 miles away for the sake of money.

I read folks go on about rallying cries for this game or that game, how about every game we play, get behind the team and do your moaning on here.

Just answer the question. My point will actually have nothing to do with league status or the owners. It will have everything to do with your “statement” though.

Well it does Tony as our crowds and season ticket holders are determined by the league we are in and not the owners. Unless you are saying that under these owners those emotional souls wouldn’t turn up if a big Premier league club turned up for a cup game.

I think they’d pack the emotion away for the day - oh and bitch and moan if they didn’t get a ticket.

I've expressed my opinion that it's a cop out which is my right. I didn't say I was right, you said that.
I did ask how you how SISU might directly effect their emotions so they reach the decision not to go but you didn't bother to answer.

You need to know how SISU might directly effect people’s emotions? Seriously? Have you been locked away in a cave for a decade or something? That surely can’t be a serious question.

Some of the credit needs to go to Mark Robins for securing players on longer term contracts, developing a scouting structure [although limited] and adding stability where there was none! Additionally, Tynan seems to work very hard behind the scenes trying to generate interest and new revenue streams. I don't think recent developments have anything to do with the owners strategic vision......more some decent staff!

In fairness that's true in any workplace. The top bods can have all the vision they like but without people on the ground to make it happen it means nothing.

SISU were still our owners for the Checkafuckwit final. As Wasps have shown people in this city only care about the experience on the day. They offer freebies all over the place and the ability to drink in sight of the playing area. We offer League 2 football against garbage opposition who we struggle to break down.

It's all about the 'product' now. If we go up 3 leagues under SISU the stadium will be packed.

Well it clearly isn’t but in the end football literally is 11 v 11 kicking s ball and you choose to go with it or you don’t.

In the 46 years I’ve gone I think we’ve in balance overachieved as I’ve seen a large amount of that time in the top level.

It’s not about that though is it? My family come from Cumbria and I went to a Carlisle game when I was just visiting and I’m sure I’d still be watching them for 46 years if they were my club.

I don’t care about owners. This isn’t apartheid it isn’t the advent of the third reich. It’s a game of football. You like to go or you don’t anymore and that’s it.

Yes but my point is why I don't go. No move to Northampton and like loads of others, I would have carried on renewing my ST in whatever division. Moving was a line in the sand. The legacy of that is that my habit-and routine-of going to see City play every home game was broken and with a very very bitter taste left in the mouth. It was the move that caused a 23+ game a season supporter to become a 1-2 game a season one. A club in Northampton didn't feel like "my club", to use your phrase. And now I do other stuff most Saturday's when I'm not working.

Once we had relative success in league one under Mowbray before the collapse we started to increase attendances fairly significantly so you may have that reaction but it’s the minority view

I never crossed my moral boundary.
To be absolutely honest, on morning of game Checkatrade final , it meant nothing too me. Only went to meet up with same people who I was with at FA cup final, which was nice.

Glad we won but more relief of not having another disappointment as Coventry City supporter.

I never really think about Checkatrade final, its pretty much an irrelevance. Only significant benefit being it shows what Coventry City could be without SISU and also people enjoyed themselves. Winning competition of little significance.

I regret people going to Sixfields, didn't help did it?????

A winning side is the only way to bring fans back. And it is not a minority view, loads of fans have stopped going or reduced their seasonal attendances to one or two. The Sixfields move was like a Ratners commercial suicide. Jaguar Land Rover have more chance of selling diesel cars than SISU winning fans back overnight.

That’s not fair. First trip to Wembley in 30 years is a bloody exception! Fuck off should Sisu ruin that too. NOPM is stupid, but finding it hard to get enthusiastic for an organisation that’s treated you like shit I can understand.

We are at our lowest ebb in anyone’s lifetime. With a club that until recently treated fans as an inconvenince rather than an asset. And extremely morally dubious owners. I don’t blame anyone for failing to muster up the motivation to blow £20 on it right now.

Even this season, our most successful in my lifetime in terms of league position, has been marred by being a bit shit and lower quality than any that have gone before it.

Of course people will want to celebrate if we go up. Why begrudge them a little light in the darkness?

don't agree at all. I reckon apart from the big games, it would be a modest crowd

Really cant see over 20k turning up to watch Burnley, stoke (14k in fa cup game this year), Swansea etc.

Of course the take up would be big.
ST alone would be over 15,000 in the Prem
Would like to think they would go up next season if we are promoted.
Could see 8 to 10,000 in championship.

I worked in Leicester when they got promoted you couldn't buy a seson ticket for love nor money people were given a choice of games if they wanted tickets and believe me they weren't all the glamorous games.
