His direct running with the ball and the way he ghosts by players reminds me of early Gazza. I'm not saying he's that level but there's a lot of natural talent to work with. I'd be tying him down to a year extension and the opportunity of regular games at a higher level with the promise we'd sell at the end of next season if we don't go up again.

We have the option of a 1 year extension in our favour. Nothing to panic about immediately for the coming season.

Its about the club offering him a significantly improved contract, hes probably on peanuts by even league 2 standards as an academy graduate.

The club even then ( I have heard have put together a better package for him) but it is no where near enough what the clubs even at lower end of Championship will pay him.

No brainer for him and and the club for him to move. he wont go for millions as some suggest but more like 400/500k with huge sell on clauses.

Sometimes you just gotta say no. With 2 years on his contract, and relatively low wages why on earth would we sell him for only 400-500k. We turned down more than this last year for the likes of Willis and Stephenson if rumours are to be believed. If he goes then it has to be stupid money - nothing else.

Erm maybe because that's what a top top player proven in league is worth?

To suggest hes worth millions at this point in time is ludicrous and way off the mark! he may well be worth that in a year or twos time if he becomes a top player in League 1 with potential to move on.

I don’t think it is. Clubs, particularly Premier League clubs, will buy potential.

If they make 10 purchases over a few years say at £10m combined and one becomes a first team player then that’s worth it for them

Its an interesting one, we wont get more than 500k for at this stage of his developement, obviously hope we keep him. But could we use the money elsewhere to strengthen.

But on the other hand spend 750k to 1M in League will amost certainly guarantee automatics.

Can buy top top League 1/Championship players for 750k, a bit like Blackburn Signature signing last season ...Bradley Dack 750k, well worth the money.

Dack had a year remaining on his contract. So it was either sell him or let him
leave for a smaller fee in the summer. Bristol City had bid £2m I think it was the year before they were challenging for promotion

Gillingham reject Bradley Dack bid from Bristol City again

I sense a bet coming on.
I think Londons valuation is 4-5x short and that's to the Championship, 10-12 x short to the Prem

It’s come from Twitter accounts with 50 followers and various spelling errors in their tweets - not the best source

I've heard that Leicester are hoping to sign James Maddison if they sell Mahrez to Man City
That move might suit Madders on quite a few levels
If that happens Bayliss would most likely suffer the same fate as George Thomas if he goes to LCFC

Was hearing last night from a Norwich fan that it's 10% sell on based on £17 mill if the sale price is £20 mill. Would help our cause if a bidding war started.

If this is correct it is best to get it out of the way early ,so long as it doesn't discount the deal too much.

The stupid wages offered to the likes of Thomas, Stevenson etc. Just to be loaned out immediately or stifled playing in the buying clubs U23s just makes it an impossible situation for the club....

Remember bassala sambou? Zero league appearances for us, but Everton allegedly paying him 3k per week over 3 years to play in their under 23s.....whats a club to do?

So, I reckon bayliss will end up at Leicester and Madisson is moving up to Everton.....

Agreed, sooner rather than later so we can potentially spend some dough on transfers or/and improve some existing contracts.
Unlike last season with George Thomas, where it dragged on too long for various reasons.

I think this one will go through fairly quickly
If it's Derby the lad will play so it's a good move from his point of view
And MR will have the money to spend in plenty of time to bring his targets in
This is the strongest position the club has been in for years
We can call the shots

Another example - up to £4m for a player who had played 1 game for Fulham.

Everton sign teenager Dennis Adeniran from Fulham

Josh Bowler - £1.5m up front rising to £4.25m - 1 game for QPR.

Josh Bowler completes £4.25m move to Everton from QPR

Bayliss has played 30 games. We should be looking for a minimum of £2m up front.

Just to keep things in perspective, and this isn't taking things away from Bayliss and what he's achieved, but he's performing at League 2 standard, he's not a world beater (yet). Secondly, we're a League 2 club, not a Championship (now Premiership) club backed by a billionaire who also owns an NFL franchise or a man who owned an F1 team. Basing what our players are worth compared to who was sold elsewhere is flawed because we're a club that wants to break even, and rely on player sales to make up some of the shortfalls in our budget. Meanwhile, these Championship clubs have far more financial backing than ourselves so, frankly, can push up prices on their unproven youngsters.

The prospective move to Derby is a very real threat on a number of levels.

I’m sure they are in deep shit with regards to FFP so they may not be in any position to make an offer.

Wasn’t he linked with Villa? They also need to cut costs.

He should stay and continue to develop at a higher level next season.
