My point is, on paper we had a player with a history of scoring goals in previous years, who actually scored more goals than eisa (who could well be a one season wonder), we are now a team who everyone believes will be going for a second promotion in the division above and yet Cheltenham have managed to wangle more money. How?
Two reasons, 1. Eisa is 4 years younger and more clubs were in for him and 2. We’re awful at holding out for a decent fee and tend to value our players way too low.

We don't know the terms of the Eisa deal do we?
Performance, appearance related content etc .
I was led to believe McNulty's deal could reach £1.5M should certain criteria be met.

Doesn’t seem to be any good for the football club when they have follow on payments as they seem to disappear like Maddison’s must have

Which comes back to the player.
Of course it does Wingy
What would you do if you were McNulty?
His first loyalty has to be to his family
From what I heard the deal with Reading will set him up for life unless he's a degenerate gambler

Ultimately I'm sure we have other targets than chaplin. This eisa thing probably needs to go through and then deals will happen. They pompey have come out in the media though, can you imagine chaplin being happy staying there now?

I can't believe people appear more worried about the striker situation than us messing about with 3 at the back. We do have a few players who could excel in a 3-5-2 but the formation requires a higher technical standard from the back 3 + wingbacks/GK. It's high risk for me - to unlock the maximum potential of a couple of players it requires the whole team to play at a higher level and that's why so few teams do it below the very top level. The defenders all need to be comfortable on the ball under pressure and in terms of carrying the ball forward into midfield and I don't think we have enough pieces of the puzzle to play it long term especially if we were to get an injury to Hyam/Sterling. Also the thought of Burge playing behind a back 3 scares the shit out of me - he'll get the ball to his feet and be expected to pass it accurately so much more and it's already the weakest part of his game. Really can't see a 3-5-2 lasting beyond September especially once the pitches start to deteriorate and then you'd have to question why we wasted a pre-season on it. Could be a suicidal move in terms of our promotion aspirations.

Agreed. With more or less a new starting 11 too. I wanted last seasons' team tweaked, not totally rebuilt! Bit worried tbh

Into the costs of running a football club - the same as your wages disappear into various different directions. When we sign a new player, we never ask 'how are we paying his wages?' Whenever we sell one, immediately 'where is the money going?'

At least he's trying it in preseason though. I believe only top level players can really pull off a back three. Hopefully we ditch it by the start of the season.

Always an interesting one as we have various income streams but they never get mentioned by the club always goes back to selling players, when promoted player costs will have increased but so did season ticket sales and shirt sales along with football league income

Chill out people, 2 weeks left something will happen, MR isnt thick. No need to panic buy just yet.

You cant compare the Eisa McNulty deals. One was between two managers who are father and son and the other was a total stitch up by a club and an agent.

Plenty on here were less than impressed when MM signed on a free but that ended up well even after a slow start. MR knows a good striker when he sees one so give him time

Maybe the Maddison money is covering the differential in wages of Agogo and Brown bs stokes and Haynes?

I don’t know but the point is neither do you.

My mistake, was under the impression Eisa was 21. Especially poor business on our part in that case.
He's from Senegal. The last African player we had claimed to be 34 but was more likely 64

Everything will have increased wages and income the way people talk is that only the costs increase and that isn’t the case

I suspect captain Dart is not one penny ever since birth
