Pompey ‘should be able to finish rest of season’

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...ld-be-able-to-finish-rest-of-season-1-3598825

this story about £800,000 has also been reported on Sky Sports News this morning.

IMO Where's their money coming from next year, because if they get their old owner Chainrai to take over he is only really interested in £17 million owed to him. I bet they don't clear out all their player during the summer and play their kids just like we have had to.

It pisses me off they were given a warning 2 years ago and everybody is bending over backward to help them. They are looking to pay their creditors '20p in the £' and they still owe older creditors from 2yrs ago which should work out they get only '4p in the £'. I would expect a lot of business not accept this deal theirfore the club may come out of Admin without a CVA - therefore more points deduction.

OSB i'm sure you may be able to put some more light onto this.

Have similar expectations SMQ however I wouldnt bet on it. Seems to me that Pompey are getting more than shall we say fair treatment. This is the third time they have been in administration and still are not dealt with. Pompey are playing within the rules however and using them to their best advantage (as we would) - It is the League rules that are wrong. There doesnt seem much equality or fairness in how they have treated their creditors, but because someone like Chanrai is owed so much then he can control any CVA arrangement, safe in the knowledge he is a football debt and comes first !

I dont have an axe to grind with Pompey as such but I wish Appleton would shut up. The league sanction any new deals but Pompey do nothing themselves other than want more. If this was an engineering company people would lose jobs, work force would reduce, all costs would be cut etc etc...... its called survival. Their idea of survival is that they remain in the Championship, retaining players they simply cannot afford and building up problems for the future. Football is not a special case, and i for one am fed up of paying extra for things or more taxes because others cant and wont pay their bills - because that is the end game this affects everyone.

It is no good anyone arguing it is only fair they get players to be fair to other teams, it wasnt fair to other teams having players they could not afford in the first place - the only way they have afforded those players is by not paying their bills, and they have used administration 3 times to do it! They have already had an unfair advantage, yes all teams overspend but some do something about it, they dont add players who earn £36K per week or they move them on - I see precious little evidence of Pompey doing that until the last week!

Football League are a waste of space, their rules are unenforced and lack teeth, Pompey by using the rules are taking the piss out of the League and every other team.

makes me mad

This is what I dont understand. Surely they technically have made the same error as ourselves and Birmingham, in not filing their accounts on time, so SURELY they should be under a transfer embargo also?! Not even taking into the fact they are under administration!!

Its madness. One rule for one, and another for the rest.

LOL, have they found a loophole, by claiming they are emergency loans. Totally unethical behavoour in which the Administrator is complicit!

Anyone else notice that more folk have viewed this thread than our average attendance this season? Beats it by a good few thousand I think ;)

I thought any payments from the Premiership were going straight the previous owners as they are first in queue....

I tweeted something to Keys.. I'm bloody angry about it.

And it gets worse... the sodding Premiership have brought forward payments to 'see them through' to the end of the season.

Jeezus frigging christ almighty!

Thing is, because of their press-ganging of the Football League, the PL reward relegated clubs with £48 million spread over 4 years after relegation. So if Pompey reaaaally wanted to push their luck, they could try and request the next few years' worth be brought forward-funny culture we have in this country of rewarding failure with cushy payouts.

First off let me state categorically I have no axe to grind with the Pompey fans, they are tremendous supporters treated poorly by a succession of owners. They are entitled to know what the hell is going on at their club. However I also feel we the fans of other teams need to know we are being treated equitably by the League and others. The questions are based on my opinions

I sent this to the Football League....................
I would be grateful if you could explain why it is that Portsmouth FC can still be signing players. The club is (a) in administration (b) has not filed its accounts on time. Accounts should have been filed on 25/02/12. I assume that the League have sanctioned the transfers in writing as per the rules, but feel that such an approval is unfair to other Clubs. Portsmouth have already had the benefit of expensive players it could not afford to pay for which has jeopardised the ordinary non football creditors and enabled them to attain a false league position, now they seek further advantage over other clubs who have cut costs and used their academy talent.

The club itself claims it does not have enough players yet fails/refuses to utilise its academy to make up numbers. Does the League have the power to look at the use of academy players at clubs and whether enough use has been made of the younger players to fill squads. Is enough use of the Academy players being made at Portsmouth, especially when bringing in more players costs more and jeopardises the finances/creditors further?

On the basis that this is the third time Portsmouth have gone into administration in 10 years (twice in two years) can the Football League assure fans that a thorough detailed investigation will be carried out, sanctions taken if appropriate and the results of the investigation be made public.

The reply I got was as follows............
Any football club that is in administration will be subject to a transfer registrations embargo. The principle being that where clubs are not able to afford their current playing squad they are not permitted to sign anyone else.In view of any embargo The Football League cannot allow a club to sign any new players, unless they are unable to field a team, i.e. name fourteen fit players for any match (11 starters plus 3 ‘usable outfield substitutes’ – which is usual Football League policy). However, we only take account of players with any first team experience and young professionals who haven’t played at first team level are therefore discounted.

Currently as Portsmouth is in the hands of the administrator it is at their discretion which of the club’s assets is sold/removed on an ongoing basis from the playing squad and The League has no jurisdiction over who this is.

At present The League cannot currently comment any further in relation to Portsmouth aside from all official statements on our website www.football-league.co.uk.

I welcome their prompt reply but basically doesnt get us any further forward. So long as Appleton doesnt blood any academy players then they cant be counted in the squad and new loans could be brought in to top up the numbers. However the bit about their accounts not being filed was not addressed at all - but doesnt matter because they can top up the squad anyway. Doesnt really answer my points though does it

Essentially, OSB, Portsmouth refuse to follow what we have done in terms of playing youngsters as it would jeapordise their opportunity to sign more players they can't afford.

Looking at the league table Pompey are on the point of no return with staying up-loopholes exploited or not, they're looking pretty much gone.

They seem to conveniently forget the 30 folk made redundant there in order to keep the footballing staff on board-don't see anyone shedding a tear for the day to day staff.

£800k isn't enough for Pompey-I think they should be given a good £10-20m to bolster their squad up to a healthy 25. It's only fair isn't it?
