I'd like to point out to the 'If people can't go 45 minutes without a beer then tough' clan that it isn't about not being able to go 45 minutes without a beer, it would just be nice if I could enjoy, one or maybe two beers while watching my team play football. I can happily go weeks without a beer, and I also wouldn't want to get 'tanked up', but this 'People only want to drink beer at the football so they can get shit faced' notion is bollocks. Sometimes people just want to enjoy the sport they love with a relaxing drink. Shouldn't be anything wrong with that.
On the flip side, I do also agree with the others who have posted saying it would be carnage. Far too many neanderthals at the Ricoh (and I'm sure every other ground) to make it work, sadly.
I might well get shot down for this, but I wonder if it would be worth trialing at something like the Checkatrade Trophy games. May get a few more bums on seats, people aren't as likely to lose all ability to function as a human by throwing their beer in the air for no reason when we score because it doesn't matter quite so much, and also is a week night so most (not all) will have to go to work the following day so won't be quite as 'on it' as they would be for a Saturday game.
