And that's me just sitting here wondering what to have for my breakfast this morning.

God knows how I will feel when I start thinking about the game today.

The problem will be overexpectancy as usual.

We drew against Brum. They just beat Brum 4-1. If we lose it will have been a game we should have won. AT will have played the wrong system. Our players are good enough, but underperformed. Let down yet again.

Am I the only one waiting for the usual quotes?

I would be happy with a draw today. They have quality in their team that we could only dream of at the moment. To be expected with their wage bill though. I would be surprised if they didn't have a player on the pitch today that is on a wage more than our starting lineup.

I woke up just over an hour ago. I was also excited. The wife wasn't happy though. She hates being woken up that early :D

Think you are vey wrong. Course there will be the odd one or two slating the team. Always been the case. I have been watching the City for far too long now. Have seen us play really well but lose and then found City fans saying we were awful ... based solely on the fact that we lost.

The majority of fans though are rational and well reasoned. They will know that the Pompey score flattered them against Brum and that Brum went down to 10 men and Pompey had a clear handball missed by the ref.

We all know today is a tough game. We cannot lose. It's that simple. A draw may be okay if Donny and Bristol lose. If we draw and draw closer to Bristol I won't be too unhappy.

And it's not just about money either. Yes, big factor, but it isn't always straight forwards. Otherwise 2 years ago Blackpool wouldn't have even got close to the play-offs let alone gone up.

I think you are being very cynical. Most of us see it as it is. If Thorn makes a mistake this is alluded to after the game and quite rightly so. Doesn't make us any less of a City fan. If we play well praise is given. If the players give their all, play their best and lose because the opposition is better than us then most of us are sensible enough to accept this. West Ham was a good case in point. 2nd half they brought real quality on and we were unable to compete on an equal footing.

Been many a game though where we have got it wrong. Wrong tactics, setup, line up etc. We wouldn't be much in the way of decent Sky Blue supporters if we just put the blinkers on and kept schtum about it and not brought it up in a thread. It is our job and natural to be analytical as well as support the team.

Quite saddened to be honest that you have already hijacked a thread about the excitement of todays game and used it to make yet another point about how a very small minority of fans are going to react IF we don't win.

We haven't even kicked off yet for fooks sake.

So it won't happen then?

Probably will happen. But why allude to it on this thread? This thread was designed for people to discuss how excited they were about today's game, not how they will feel after the match has finished.

I did 1 line on it. You have done in excess of 20. But you are right as usual.

Please let me know what I can put on the forum and where from now

I think astute does have a point about the expectation of todays game. A lot of us are kind of banking on todays game as home win, largely down to the fact the our recent home form is fairly decent. However, pompy won't be no push over, they've got some good players in that team, plus buoyed on by a vociferous away support, today will be a good battle imo. Im really looking forward to todays game, looks like its going to be a nice sunny one,it almost has a cup game game feel to it.

Plenty of opportunities to have your say. the whole forum is stacked full of opportunities. Just rather puzzled as to why you made your point on this thread with no provocation at all into your making the comments you did. Wasn't even in response to anything.

Freedom of speech and all that ...... and you can post wherever you want. Just wondering why you chose this thread to make a point about something after the game when the whole point of the thread was all about how we are all feeling leading up to the game.:thinking about:

You know as well as I that this thread could quite easliy go down the pro-Thorn/anti-Thorn route and that was something i was very keen to avoid. 1st reply and the thread is taken down a completely different path of how City fans are going to be saying the manager made mistakes etc. AFTER the game.

Think it is right and proper for me to pull you up over it.

Have just booked my ticket and driving up from London leaving 11 o'clock. Me too! I know that whatever I chose for breakfast it'll be a case of get it down quickly before I lose my appetite....

Gotta admit, this is exciting....hope there's a massive crowd. I could be high as a kite driving back...or...or...yeah well I don't want to think about it!

Wish I hadn't booked...wish I wasn't going...yikes, I'm all over the place!!!

there is always this little dig about fans and what they are going to say if we lose. Personally if we lose I shall stay well away from the site for risk of being labelled negative

If we try our best, give 100% and the manager does everything he is supposed to do and we lose, I will not be complaining.

Plenty of outlets to talk about after the game and players and systems and resources though.

Can't we just leave this thread how it was meant to be though and talk about how you are all feelin going into the the game?

Pretty please!!

Just want to know if you're nervous, if so, how nervous. Excited? Worried? Scared?

I am not too bad at the moment. Feel a little sick in my stomach. Going to be very nervous come 3 o'clock though.

Will also be nervous around 2.15, leading up to the team being announced. Let's hope there's good news on that front.

I'm playing hockey while the match is on-so I'm opting not to find out the score till I watch the FL show highlights. Maximising the tension :p

Very nervous over this one, this game is building like the forest game and we all know how that ended up! If the boys are not up for this game at home against a key rival in the delegation fight we deserve to go down. Won't be easy but I think we will scrape a 1-0 win

Now who's being negative! It's a beautiful day and there's everything to play for. Not a dull mid table run-of-the-mill-nothing-to-fight-for game that's for sure!

I have no idea if we will win or not.

Sounds like it is going to be a very tight game and it could all boil down to one decision or a bit of luck or deflected goal off the ref's arse cheeks.

Very much hoping for the win, but if we play well and draw then I won't be too unhappy.

Think the players are going to be very edgy. Not expecting a high quality game. Expecting it to be all blood and thunder and fast paced with crunching tackles and lots of free kicks.

otis ignore astute, hes just wumming, notic ehis "usual quotes" didnt include "sisu have gutted this team" and "we didnt turn up first half" etc?? he has an agenda, you have made your points about how cov fans look at the performance aswell as the result:claping hands:

now on to the thread!

i am sooooooooooooooooooo nervous, more so than in many many years

after wednesday i was looking forward to a 3-4 nil win for cov(yeh i know!!!!!! but i dunno, jsut thought things were gonna click today) but with our defensive woes and lack of dept coupled with pompeys evil loans i am now extremly worried we might even lose

i just hope we attack like we did vs cardiff in 2nd half, that could be a joy to behold for ccfc fans who have had very little to cheer this year

I thought we would win today. That was when I thought Pompey were down though and before they beat Brum. Now think it is going to be a much tougher game. Was expecting a Pompey team to turn up feeling sorry for themselves and down on their luck and we now find a bouyent team arriving who now think they can have a very good chance of getting out of this mess.

Added to that are our injury worries. Think it is going to be tough. Mighty tough.

The should be full of confidence also our home form has been good but today will be a tough game and we need to start well to ease the nerves of the players and us fans

Otis

We will indeed feel confident.

Just thought we would beat a dispirited Pompey team with a good performance. Now think we need a very good performance to beat them.

We need to stay calm. No silly rash tackles in the penalty box. No sloppy passes in dangerous areas and no-one diving in and risking being sent off. Calm heads. We should be confident. Our home record of late is very good.
