If they arrived in another EU country first, I believe they then have an automatic right of entry to the UK?
Whatever the technicalities there are a very large number of them where I live and increasing every day.

They'll still be able to do that after Brexit. Unless we're going to refuse to take any asylum seekers which won't do our international relationships much good at a time we're trying to negotiate trade deals.

If they have been granted citizenship of that country, then they probably do, in which case they were probably asylum seekers. If they weren't asylum seekers then they wouldn't be able to move around the EU freely, unless they were doing so illegally, in which case they'd get picked up at the UK border.

But according to previous posts in this thread they wouldn't be allowed to work here (which they do) and wouldn't qualify for social housing (which they also do).

They have to be apply asylum status, be granted that status and then given EU citizenship before enjoying freedom of movement. That’s a whole process. Nothing automatic about that as it’s not a guarantee. Asylum may also only be granted while a child so they may have to return at the age of 18 having never gained EU citizenship. There’s been a good few high profile cases of that happening in the U.K. of late.

That’s not automatic though. They have to have been successful in claiming asylum and then be successful in gaining EU citizenship first.

I have said a fair few times about my family that have moved to an EU country. And also about my plans that were to leave the UK semi permanently in 9 years. I see it both ways. But I am not supposed to mention anything which causes problems in the UK. If you need proof just look at the diatribe that Tony comes out with. And the fool voted UKIP.

Then surely you consider that those who were invited to move here from the former-colonies have also caused a strain, yet you only ever seem to target EU migrants. If the economy remains successful after Brexit, then both skilled and non-skilled migrants will required. The government likes to go on about record employment levels, if that is the case then it suggests these workers are filling jobs; I would be much more sympathetic to your point if there were increasing levels of unemployment but it is those at the job taking care of their own and ignoring those at the bottom and blaming working people looking for a better life who come to this country and contribute in tax revenues.
I think that Blair made a mistake in not implementing controls on Poles working here when Poland joined the EU, there was a sudden surge and it caused people to feel unsettled, I remember it at the time. This was a domestic policy though, and I am sure I read somewhere that since Germany lifted restrictions, more have started to go there instead.

You said that the mental health unit was closing because they couldn’t cope because of immigrants swelling the local population. A) it wasn’t closing it was moving. B) it was moving to make way for an growing elderly population not a growing immigrant population as you claimed. That’s you twisting not me. You post a link to a benefit to the Hospital as a growth in the migrant population saved the maternity unit from closure as the population growth has made the unit sustainable. And then we had your anecdote yesterday about a woman dying when being moved to a different hospital as if somehow it was the fault of the EU or immigration yet in your post (presumably copied and pasted) it said it was due to a delay in the decision to move her that caused her death. I asked you to clarify how that was the EU’s fault and never got an explanation after you had tried to twist a delayed decision into it being the fault of the EU and migrants. Twisting again.
