Not optimistic of the win at all, a draw is the likely outcome for me.

Andy Cook I was really impressed with in the Cup game, a old fashioned striker who created gaps for others giving Hyam and Willis a difficult afternoon.

He’s pivotal to Walsall’s build up play so he needs close attention

I'm keeping Doyle in as we've had a good rest from our last game and I'm treating it as last chance for Bayliss and Hiwula to impress before getting dropped.
Chaplin dropped to the bench for a game just to see how he reacts - will it spur him on or will he sulk?

As i said genuine question, I wasn't having a go... I didn't say it harmed anyone so that's an odd comment?

I was asking because I hadn't seen anyone respond without confusion, but if you like it then fair enough, you are the only one i have seen!

Can't remember who, but didn't some manager base his tactics around a statistician who showed that as most goals were scored from one area of the pitch (i.e the final third - don't laugh), that manager then insisted in the long ball all the time, i.e. getting the ball in the final third. Apologies for such a poor description, somebody with a better memory and more eloquence, will explain it better!

The optimistic side of me thinks we’ll win this game. We were the better side in the cup game and hopefully changes made will be positive and we get a good result. A draw wouldn’t be shabby at all.

Possibly.

It's really easy during a good run to just come on and say "as you were". Harder during a bad spell because you feel something needs to change, but what exactly? Should you keep on persevering with the same team as they did well a few weeks ago? After all, stability breeds success supposedly (but wrongly).

I could've taken Bayliss out for Kelly, but we've seen so little of him recently will he be able to last the 90 mins? Should've I have put him in to start with the intention of subbing him for Bayliss?

Hiwula could've been taken out, but who for? Shipley? Bring Mason in as a LM? In the end I just went for Hiwula for the ex-player thing. Hardly a scientific reason but there we have it.

Something had to change up front and if I went Chaplin/Baka there's no strong presence holding the ball up, but with JCH you never know if he's going to either. After the misses last week it just seems that Chaplin can't complain about being rested and with Baka again there's the old club thing.

Having said that, and in reply to Cranfield, I can't see MR dropping Chaplin.

Well my head tells me it's going to be a defeat and possibly quite ugly atmosphere up there.....but i'll go positive and say 2-1 City via a Bakayoko late show.

Hopefully we can get ourselves out of this little rut we've found ourselves in, if we could just be more clinical around the box we'll be fine. I'd like to see Doyle rotated out for a bit, even if just to see if Ogogo or Kelly can realistically play a part for us or not.

All we need to do is to win more matches whllst losing less matches and we will start to climb again.

100 rating points climb from now till the end of the season would be a great target.

I think seeing how everything Is evening itself out, a rating of 1620 ish should be enough for a top six finish or there abouts.

We've already hit 1586 this season. A few more points is definitely doable and plenty of time to get them in.

It's consistency when having a high rating is the problem, a loss will knock you down a lot of points. It's not just about picking yourself up and going at it again, but the speed you can do this in.

You will hit a rating ceiling. It's all about trying to push back this boundary and keep moving forward or trying to keep as close as possible to the rating ceiling.

Extended break should give more time to get people fit and more practice at free kicks. Physical game, so I reckon we'll get a few chances from set plays. Local derby and our away following will do us proud. Bouncing back with a win, get us back on track. 1-3.

It will be interesting to see how he sets us up. He said today about us learning our lessons while still being able to create chances so it sounded a bit defense minded.

I wonder if he will make a change in midfield to make us a bit more defensive, Shipley for Hiwula or Kelly coming back in maybe?
