Corbyn in Parliament today said the Labour Party will only open dialogue with the Government if the PM announces that she will rule out a no deal Brexit. This is a valid position because this is now the legal alternative after the her deal was defeated yesterday. The SNP, Lib Dems, Plaid Cymru and Greens are all opposed to no deal and want the Government to rule that out too. The only parliamentary majority on Brexit is on preventing a no deal.

Theresa May is also seemingly unwilling to reconsider any of her ‘red lines’ set out at Lancaster House in 2017. One of those being the Customs Union which the Government has ruled out. Don’t be fooled by her rhetoric because her actions thus far don’t seem to indicate a willingness to compromise. We’ll see in the coming days if this will change.

She’s done this to deliberately try and sway the public into thinking Labour is putting party politics above the national interest. She played party politics by not seeking a cross-party solution to Brexit from Day 1, and by calling a GE when she already had a parliamentary majority (because at that point Labour looked like they would get pummelled). If losing her majority wasn’t a wake up call, she still didn’t seek cross-party support. She’s run the clock down on this deal, threatened the country with ‘No Brexit’ or ‘No Deal’ if her deal wasn’t passed through Parliament.

Theresa May is not one to be giving anyone lectures on acting in the national interest.

He went against his principles to go against May. So he isn't going to get what his principles wanted yet he is going to come out of this not looking good to the floating voters who voted leave. But on the other hand you have May who tried to follow what was voted for who will not be PM and Tory MP's who went against her. This will take votes away from Labour.
