Germany is in recession. Italy, France and Spain are also struggling. And they are gradually getting worse. Last year we were told by the EU that the UK would be the worse out of the lot. It either shows their lack of knowledge on the subject or they lied. I said at the time I thought they were wrong and got castigated on here for saying so.

We are still looking good for some sort of deal. The EU can't afford to let us go without one. Look at how much we spend in the EU against how much we sell. It is spread out into lots of countries I hear. Yes. But it is billions to all the biggest countries. And they are in trouble now. Yet these same people will say that losing the same value of sales of goods to us would be a major problem. Yet we are not in recession before it starts.

I agree it won't be good for us if it happens. But the only ones that are willing for it to happen seems to be those who run the EU. And that is only so they can keep a hold of the power they have.

I don’t place my trust in them. I just don’t ignore the fact that they were voted in on a manifesto of getting closer ties to the EU and then debated and signed the treaties in plain site. It wasn’t slipped out on a good day to bury bad news day with no one noticing. Manifestos are public, all the treaties were in the news while being debated and drawn up, nothing was hidden. Trust has nothing to do with it.

Yes the truth was hidden from us. It was never going to be about a common market and nothing else. And if it was going to be run to the benefit of the people that live in the EU it would have been a good thing.

We always get lied to from those who run our country though. Name the last PM that didn't lie to us about major things. Those in charge of whatever lie to us. Things are not run to our benefit. It is to benefit those in charge. The problem is these days we have the internet and people get to know the truth. Now you have China that is in charge of the internet there. And Russia is preparing to have similar. Then they can continue to run their countries as they have for a long time.

If trade deals can be forged in the past then they can be forged in the future. I still think the more spiteful members of the EU will try and protect their little cartel by making things as tricky as possible and therefore there will be disruption down to them but it will sort itself out.

Even for me. I have to place my U.K. beer and cider orders now to be sure of getting them from small firms in the UK. That is money and space.

Zero growth in the last 3 months after a previous 3 months of contraction is as close as you can get.

You continually have a go at the UK for a slower growth. But it is a growth that most countries of the EU would love to have. And that was after those who run the EU tried to tell us that we would go into recession and the rest of the EU would do well. Yeah OK.

What are you on about? Juncker said the EU won’t change the 4 freedoms. It was true. Nothing to do with Juncker, just a fact which he conveyed. He did agree we wouldn’t have to bail the Euro out.

I am not making excuses. It doesn’t bother me. Lots of people make predictions. It is hard to foresee the future, but we have now had 4 straight months of falling business investment. That is definitely a Brexit effect and together with a slowing of the the world economy will probably have a negative effect on the UK economy at the start of 2019. people like me stockpiling in advance of Brexit will alleviate that a bit. If I have been advised to order now for the summer, so will others. Which will mean that later in the year our orders will be missed. Could be an up and down year. In a no deal it will be different again, or if Trump slaps tariffs on German cars, the EU will slow again.

So, who knows what exactly the GDP growth will be? If the commission is right you will say nothing, if they are wrong you’ll be jumping for joy.
