Duggins is a buffoon.

However that letter was also written by the LOTO. About decisions passed on a cross party basis.

It’s not about personalities as much as some would like it to be. Not Joy. Not Tim. Not Lucas. Not Duggins. Councils aren’t hedge funds. They aren’t run by one person alone.

Agreed, not just him, was just a personal example, it is cross party buffoonery

So I honestly don’t know about the economic impact. Some fag packet figures: an Aldi store has roughly 40 employees and pays reasonably well for essentially unskilled jobs. CCFC has around 79 employees don’t know if that includes players which changes a lot, but pays very high and very low wages, neither of which are likely to be returned much to the local area. Aldi also pay business rates, not sure what CCFC pay there. CCFC probably edge Aldi, certainly if you factor in brand recognition (less so these days), I know for a fact that the club used to be a common interest point with foreign business and political leaders on trade visits.

So yes, CCFC probably put in more.

However, when deciding where to be, there are two factors at play: the size of the prize and the influence you can have. Persuading Google to get up headquarters here would top them all, but is massively unlikely so not a good use of time.

The council leader can have more impact at the Aldi meeting than shouting match number eleventy billions with Joy. Especially as comment made in that meeting can likely only have a negative impact legally (doubly so because it’s Duggins)

I accept it was poor optics, and if it was me I’d have gone for that alone. And that’s Duggins is a dick. No argument here. I’m just saying it’s not as cut and dry as you claim. I can also see the other side of the argument.

Nutshell: the council is a distraction. They can’t impact anything. String em up if proof turns up by all means, but right now we need a home and only Sisu and Wasps can do that. Keep the focus.

Why, when the issue at stake is us being kicked out of the league if neither Sisu nor Wasps change course, is the topic of discussion George fucking Duggins?

That’s what gives me pause. I mean I can accept widespread buffoonery is an option. But so is political hay making so why has no one from the council come out to whistleblow and take a stand. There’s clearly a constituency for it, and ultimately there’s always an opposition for anything in politics. So where is it? Why haven’t we got even one councillor making a stink about it?

Just a question, Why won't wasps agree a rental deal with Sisu? Before aswering please bear in mind that Sisu aren't taking wasps to court.

40 employees in that Aldi? Ha

People are talking about the council as they are the ones who get excused. They are the ones who have people re writing history with long documents for them who claim to be fans. They are the ones smugly bragging about bullshitting because of public opinion.

The council isn't a distraction, they are very much involved. There's no reason they should be allowed to get away with taking the piss, the same with the other parties.

Looking at what aldi employees say, it suggests an average Aldi store has nowhere near 40 employees, more like 10...maybe 15 max.

How many full time employees does an aldi store have | Indeed.com

Not sure if you saw the documentary about them as employers, treat their staff like shit, make them do unpaid work, etc albeit they pay well.

What is it like to work at Aldi? Employees reveal long hours, poor work-life balance...but good pay

One for you: if Wasps shouldn’t be interested in the outcome of the case, why are they listed as interested parties?

It’s a great question. One someone should ask Wasps. I expect the answer would be along the lines of: we feel Sisu are attempting to use the legal system vexatiously to lay claim to the Ricoh. This would bring great cost on Wasps, perhaps to the point of ruin

But I don’t follow egg chasing, so I really don’t know.

Why would they help the council if it didn’t help them?

The Coventry City Council can block planning permission for a stadium?

It’s pretty obvious that it’s not only Sisu that’s preventing this hypothetical stadium being built.
If they've been blocked they will have written evidence. If they've never applied they won't. It's as simple as that.

The obvious follow up question would then be how can SISU do so much damage if Wasps and CCC have done nothing wrong.

What excuse?

I’ve sat here saying “Tell me what you think they can do and I’ll be with you demanding it happens” and you’ve gone “they should agree to meet”, on the day there’s been a meeting, that by all accounts ended like almost every other Sisu/CCC meeting with a shouting match and no progress.

I’ve said I want an investigation once this is all over. I think it’s needed for faith in democracy if nothing else. I’ve called the leader names and said string em up if we can prove anything.

And yet when you pop up in literally every thread whenever someone disses Sisu, we shouldn’t say anything?

Are you a plant? If not then neither is anyone else who you’ve been chatting to for fucking years you mental bastard.

If a new account pops up with shit, or you’ve got proof from server logs of something dodgy. Well let the dog see the rabbit, stick it up and we can discuss it, on this discussion forum.

Otherwise, let’s not shit in our own backyard and stick to the facts and calling people who aren’t on the site names.

Ok so I am now seriously worried. No one at the council can do anything

They can’t tell wasps what to do

Feels like 2014 again

Will obviously tell planning department to deal with any requests like any other. Does sound like he doesn’t care too much from that

I have no idea. Why would Wasps do anything they don’t want to? Especially if it’s at detriment to their bottom line as is claimed. If the council tried to blackmail them, they could just go to the courts.

Where have I accused you of being a plant? Its interesting you keep going on the offensive with that all of the time.

Why's that I wonder? Can you imagine if I actually worked for sisu, can you imagine if I used to be the leader of sisu? Ha

Can you imagine if I wrote a 12000 word document saying sisu had done nothing wrong and rewriting history and had onwe check it over for me?

Shit in my own backyard? Sadly I don't consider to be sharing a backyard with people more bothered about politics than the football club.

This is where people involved it being too close have their judgement clouded with personal feelings.

Yes they can but they need to state their reasons giving the applicant time to appeal or to change their application. Either way the applicant will receive the refusal in writing. The applicant can appeal. There's paperwork galore.
If there is no paperwork, there's no application in the first place. There won't be any paperwork. because they've never submitted an application .

I take shmmeee s point though what can they do?

They could try though that’s all I need

It’s just all so predictable mate, every time there’s pressure, they just throw out “But the council”, and because politics is a red tag to a bull people fall for it. Sisu never get held to account on the fucking stadium, or the legals. When have they answered anything properly? We don’t even know what their plan is should they win, what are they even fighting for?

But we should all sit about discussing Ann Lucas’ fag breath.

If we're supposed to believe the council can do absolutely nothing to help the football club remain at a stadium for which it is still the freeholder what can the council actually do.

Why do we even have a council? Why are they having meetings with the likes of Aldi and JLR, it only stands to reason there is absolutely nothing they can do there either.

Or is it just a convenient excuse?

So why were the council representatives at the meetings?
I'll spell it out for you. They've done the dirty on the football club by giving the ground to wasps, they're both in it together and closed ranks long ago and I'm sure the conversation would have been held between ccc and wasps before the deal went through about the rights and wrongs of it all. Now they're getting jumpy as the cats out of the bag.

1. The council sold the stadium built for the city’s football club to a London Rugby club.
2. The council have powers to stop a planning request to build a new CCFC stadium in the city.

Just two reasons amongst many, many more that the council are far from a distraction and have definite impact.

I rent my house. What can my landlord make me do that isn’t in the terms of the lease? I can hear the argument CCC should’ve put something in, but I wouldn’t say it’s cut and dry and what can be done now?

Meeting these companies is about selling them the city, taking in their needs and accounting for that in infrastructure planning and financial forecasting.

CCC can rent land out on long leases. Do you want that to happen? I could see an argument for a lease that’s technically owned by the fans maybe to get around the Sisu issue. Wasn’t Stamford Bridge owned like that? But who pays for the bricks and mortar? Sisu out of the kindness of their hearts?

They could offer advice on planning policy, but it’s all publicly available and as far as we know Sisu haven’t asked.

The main thing will be getting the roads around the area sorted, but until they have an idea of location they can’t even begin that.

I think most of us did, but with very little thought.

1. Can of worms right there. Can we afford the Ricoh? What about Sisu saying they didn’t want it? Could Sisu be trusted? Put a pin in that for a second. I can be convinced on it but it can’t be changed now.

2. No they can’t. Literally. If they don’t have a reason to reject you can appeal to the Secretary of State, especially for a project of this size. Also land isn’t a bad investment, you aren’t likely to be out much by buying some, or even putting an outline in before you buy. We haven’t done that. In how many years now since the artists impression?

There is no new stadium dude. As much as we need one.

Everybody is to blame.

Our owners AND the council.

What’s fucking me off is your direct refusal to accept that in selling the Ricoh to Wasps Coventry City council have royally fucked over our football club.

Whether SISU deserved it for being wank owners or not.

Our FOOTBALL CLUB did not.

Separate the club from the owners and it’s a tad easier to swallow.

What’s not is the council decision to sell the Stadium built for our Football Club to a London Rugby Club.

(Btw you still ignoring the fact that the Council also pocketed 60m Tesco money-but I suppose SISU deserved that too)
