So I honestly don’t know about the economic impact. Some fag packet figures: an Aldi store has roughly 40 employees and pays reasonably well for essentially unskilled jobs. CCFC has around 79 employees don’t know if that includes players which changes a lot, but pays very high and very low wages, neither of which are likely to be returned much to the local area. Aldi also pay business rates, not sure what CCFC pay there. CCFC probably edge Aldi, certainly if you factor in brand recognition (less so these days), I know for a fact that the club used to be a common interest point with foreign business and political leaders on trade visits.
So yes, CCFC probably put in more.
However, when deciding where to be, there are two factors at play: the size of the prize and the influence you can have. Persuading Google to get up headquarters here would top them all, but is massively unlikely so not a good use of time.
The council leader can have more impact at the Aldi meeting than shouting match number eleventy billions with Joy. Especially as comment made in that meeting can likely only have a negative impact legally (doubly so because it’s Duggins)
I accept it was poor optics, and if it was me I’d have gone for that alone. And that’s Duggins is a dick. No argument here. I’m just saying it’s not as cut and dry as you claim. I can also see the other side of the argument.
Nutshell: the council is a distraction. They can’t impact anything. String em up if proof turns up by all means, but right now we need a home and only Sisu and Wasps can do that. Keep the focus.
Why, when the issue at stake is us being kicked out of the league if neither Sisu nor Wasps change course, is the topic of discussion George fucking Duggins?
