I live within walking distance but preferred hr
Baffles me that people are obsessed with it just because they live by it.no further questions your honour!
And Tennents too. They have Tennant's at the Ricoh?

But what you want is more pubs close by noy specific changes to the stadium is all i am sayingIt diminishes the whole match day experience though which I then associate with the ground. At HR it was possible to have a good day out even if we lost, now the result is pretty much the be all and end all.
Now I appreciate that HR was very convenient for me so they may add to my dislike of it but even people I've spoken to who live more local to it don't seem to get on with the place.
If you like the place then great, but I don't think the majority have a connection with it.
How am i obsessed with it? Go on prove itYou and Otis for starters

Have no issue with u saying matchday experience is not as good for you. But the actual grounf is not souless
Ok thats fine. Unlike nick u have not resorted to baseless lies u now regret.but I do find it soulless.
You don't, you're totally entitled to that view.
As for the pub thing, mid week games at either HR or the Ricoh are a different experience to Saturday games. Often involve a mad rush to finish work, get home, get ready and straight to the game so all the other stuff isn't part of the mid week game routine. Used to love going to HR under the floodlights, find mid week games at the Ricoh a chore.

There's some weird affinity some seem to have with it

However i would say all this talk about locstion and proximitt. HR was 5 mins down a444 in car. Not rly a big difference to timing and rush?
HR was soulless was 95% of the time anyway.no it's not. Especially if you'd been going to HR since the 70s.
You may not feel it's soulless but plenty do and I'm one of them.
It's not just the ground, I used to meet up with lads I know from all over Cov in the pubs before and after games at HR. Now I stay in local before the game, maybe have a pint in or around the Ricoh and nearly always return straight back to Earlsdon afterwards so the match day experience has lost that dimension for me.
Of course it would be better if we were in the top flight but personally I don't think it will ever feel like home to me and I don't think I'll ever warm to the place.
HR was soulless was 95% of the time anyway.
So quiet and everyone always used to moan about the very poor atmosphere.
Of course now we only choose to remember the good times looking back.
It takes me nearly 50 minutes to walk. You and Otis for starters
Walk fasterIt takes me nearly 50 minutes to walk.
I guess technically it is walking distance.
That is at quick pace!Walk faster
Exactly, but that's my point, mid week games are often just about the game and probably a bigger indicator of how a person feels about the ground with all the other stuff taken away.
I remember the buzz I used to get walking up Raglan street, the glow of the floodlights illuminating the Hillfields sky, the gradual increase in the noise the nearer you got to the ground, the odour of ale and smoke in the 70s and 80s, loved it!
As I say, it's about opinion, your view is as valid as mine but we just have opposite opinions about the place.
Not entirly opposite. Walking up through the streets and seeing entrwnce come into view was dwfintley more romantic thsn what we have nowExactly, but that's my point, mid week games are often just about the game and probably a bigger indicator of how a person feels about the ground with all the other stuff taken away.

At least it had some character and would certainly be better for us now.
The Ricoh is poorly constructed, is decaying alarmingly and badly located for traffic access. Aesthetically it’s not a pretty sight at all.
The location is the worst aspect and lack of reasonable parking. It can’t create any atmosphere unless it’s 90% full.
I did too, but it's fair to say a big game against Liverpool rather wetted the appetite than a dour midweek affair against Rochdale, Bury, Accrington, Yeovil etc etc Most of those legends there yesterday are legends because of what they achieved against the best teams in the land.but I do find it soulless.

The semi final against Wycombe was electric and only one stand was open.
Lol - I guess you never went to many games at highfield road did you
I think we’ve already established that I have. Doesn’t fit your argument so keep pretending that you know better if you like. It only proves you wrong twice.
Had many a good night and day atmosphere at HR, also had some shit ones. In fact the worst atmosphere I’ve ever experienced watching Cov was an end of season game against Wimbledon at HR. We were safe, they needed a draw and the gate in the build up was so low the club did a buy a ticket and get a free shirt promotion in an effort to boost sales.
