Travel all over the city and the only suitable plot of land I see for various reasons to build a stadium on taking into account no houses that near, train station on its doorstep, decent access road wise, large industrial estate nearby where parking arrangements could be made, good for away fans atleast, not too far from city centre, well as near to town as HR was and drinking dens galore all over the place and that is Hearsall Common, the fair ground end. I know the grass end is common land but I don’t think the bottom end where the fairs and circuses go is. it’s pretty all tarmac.
Boddy on behalf of his employer is still going on about a site to build a new ground on well CCC what about Hearsall ? if not, why not, there’s nothing there most the year. That way if our owners are serious in their new stadium ideas sisu can then drop the legals as Sepalla offered, get a short term deal with Wasps and move on and enjoy all this extra revenue from their own ground they constantly go on about. put her on the spot let’s see if she’s serious.

Problem with edge of city sites is infrastructure and accessibility poor transport links. Not sure on the rules regarding common land Morris common would be okay but perhaps too near housing.

No. Common land and village greens

No land is unowned, some is unregistered which just means the LR haven’t got a record of ownership as it hasn’t sold since they started registration. There’s a drive to get all land registered, it’s about 85% at the moment I think.

Unclaimed land after say a death goes to the Crown but is usually sold off pretty quickly.

Councils don’t tend to sell land, they long lease. Lots of developers I do work for specifically request I remove council owned land for this reason.

The council would have to pay for legal advice on whether they could sell common land, do a certain amount of consultation, seek professional valuations on the value of the land (if they could even sell it which is doubtful). It would cost a fair few quid just to do that.

Nothing is free, just because you individually do not pay for it.

Why does it? Literally all that is needed is for the council to go here is a site / sites we think are suitable and available. Come back to us with your plans and we'll fully support the club in moving it forward.

Had a look at that link, then on to the Coventry parks and open spaces link, hersall common was on it but not morris common. Don't suppose you know who owns that per chance ?

Suspect some, if not all, the cost of the fantasy stadium would be along the lines of the Tesco deal.

However you are completely correct. Proceed as if its actually happening and put timescales in place. So you could give suitable sites now and say that within a certain timeframe you expect plans to be submitted and proof of funds to be shown.

Keep going as we are and nothing moves forward. SISU can be here in 12 months time still saying we're trying but the council are against us. Call their bluff and they have nowhere to hide.

I've not seen anyone who has suggested that.

A lot of people think that a stadium that was fully owned by CCFC would be brilliant for the Club whether that be the Ricoh or elsewhere is open to debate.

Agree with the OP in a sense, the bluff should've been called when SISU made their big statement two weeks ago, but the council missed the chance to do so.

The EFL can and if the council bothered to turn up to meetings they could all work together.

The council say we have supplied suitable sites to SISU. The EFL say you can groundshare or stay on the Ricoh on a 1 year deal (remember their rules actually require a minimum 10 year deal) but we want to see planning submitted and proof of funds in the next 12 months.
