I see JLR are getting into the Dyson brexit spirit and brexiting the new defender production line to Slovenia. Real shame both from a safeguarding and creating new jobs in the U.K. but also from a historical point of view as production of this model in it’s original guise at Solihull is where Land Rover began.

Clearly not but if I was working at Vauxhall’s factory in Ellesmere Port I would be asking myself what incentive does PSA have to keep it open rather than move production to one of the Opel factories in the EU. Especially if there’s a hard brexit but not specifically a hard brexit. They only make the Astra there now IIRC and it’s also made in Opel’s Russelsheim plant as well. I have a mate from Swindon who recons that Honda pulling out is the canary down the mineshaft for Japanese manufactures in the U.K. He believes many are waiting to see what the knock on effect is on sales in the U.K. and EU and how Honda manage to serve the market directly from Asia.

Apparently his house doesn't lend itself to solar power, and he will get an electic car as soon as he can (must be on the breadline now - poor Ed)...but many would've had him as PM in the blink of an eye!

Are you arguing for doing away with party manifestos? All parties should do a Brexit Party? Form a party around a leader. Take money from people without allowing them membership of the party or voting rights. Get power and then tell people what they voted for?

From Farage’s history, we can, maybe, deduce some points of his manifesto. It will be similar to Trump‘s, but with leave the EU.

1. no more shared sovereignty

2. end all existing trade deals

3. increase military spending

4. increase government borrowing

5. reduce taxes for the rich and offer the poorer some smaller tax breaks to make that palatable

6. leave tax havens alone

7. loosen tax evasion laws or enforcement of them

8. reduce overseas aid

9. loosen gun laws ( has said that in the past )

10. allow more free speech = allow overt racism

11. reintroduce capital punishment

12. introduction of legislation that clearly stops judges referring to case law equating UK decisions on such things as discrimination with EU Charter of Rights.

13. deny that climate change is partly, at least, man made and scrap environment pledges made at the Paris agreement and subsequent agreements.

Will appeal to many. Basically he is for selfishness and let the poorer people fend for themselves. Takes us back to early Victorian values.

Times when the rich were really rich and the poor really poor.

Meanwhile the UK as a whole would be becoming more isolated and insignificant, whilst trying to hold the disappointed losers in this system down, and at the same time trying to achieve some international success, with weakened bargaining power, in trade deals.

This comes on top of the £33M they had to pay Eurotunnel because the tendering process was flawed and P&O are currently taking legal action against the government over that payment so it could cost the taxpayer more yet. The irony being that Japan was one of the country’s banded around by leavers that we must leave to do a trade deal with. Shame non of the leave lot stopped to engage their brains that actually being in the EU was actually protecting jobs with Japanese manufacturers in the U.K. The minute we voted leave the EU clambered over itself to get a trade deal done with Japan as there was no longer a risk of us vetoing it to protect British jobs. India has also stated its exited by us leaving as they can now finally do a trade deal with the EU now we’re no longer able to veto it. Another country banded around by leavers as a reason to leave despite the fact that we always could have had the trade deal if we hadn’t vetoed it.

The leave argument was that we want a „cut and paste“ FTA with Japan. Liam Fox is in charge of that. Japan have stated that any trade deal with the UK won’t be as good as that with the EU. If Japan makes cars in the EU or Japan, there is no difference, apart from transport costs. There will be a difference if they make them in the UK.
