Genie is out the bottle. The commission will investigate regardless now, we can’t withdraw the complaint.

Im struggling to see what wasps gain from us not being at the Ricoh. Lost rent, reduced sponsorship and sub let’s.

They have lost control of events now and other than spite what do they gain from this?

Probably missing something.
Obviously if the Commission find wrongdoing, whether SISU still own us or not by the time the decision is made, they will go seeking compensation

My only sticking point is surely the complaint against the council will inevitably affect Wasps. So technically it’s not completely separate.

“So yeah we’ve moved the goalposts m8”

Is all Wasps need to say.
I don't think the two parties on either side of the sale can be separated. Wasps WOULD have to pay the shortfall if a court ordered them to.

They've most definitely moved the goalposts. Also though we're being blackmailed with something that we now have no control over.
It fucking stinks mate. The council and Wasps are one and the same.
The council should be supportive of the 135 year old football club. Trouble is they never have been, and now they have a new club to be in cahoots with.

Thoroughly fucked off with all of it.

But it’s quite literally their ball and they can do what they want with it. Am I missing something?

Legally not connected. But is connected. Why would they stay around the table with us? Anyone?

The understanding is/was that Wasps wanted the legal action off the table because the costs involved in appointing representatives and the like and the knock-on effect this had on cash flow. This complaint puts paid to any of that in the short-term. The fact they are now not proceeding with talks based on this suggests there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to the stadium sale.

That’ll do me. I’m back.

It's all about social climbing.
Duggins hobnobbing with posh rugger twats gets him up the ladder further than sitting on the terrace watching City, I'm sure he knows which side his bread is buttered.(allegedly ;o)

Somebody from the council must be involved with both the wasps move to the Ricoh and the consortium bid.

This may have been posted already but what are the implications for Wasps if the EC investigate the complaint, find there has been wrongdoing by CCC. What happens next? Do they have the authority to force Wasps to pay more or would it be CCC alone who are liable for any damages?

Then it's wasps issue with the council isn't it?

Yes...but what powers do the EC have? Essentially, are Wasps liable for any fines/repayments etc? If not, they can continue to negotiate with CCFC. Overly simplistic, possibility but does anybody know how this could play out?

This might all be a fucking mess, but you have to applaud the club for posting an article raising awareness about mental health less than an hour after posting that statement!

P.S. Don't go onto Facebook to check. It's unbelievably overloaded with Council and Wasps apologists.

Before Sisu entered talks why did they not say "By the way we raised the matter with the EC" no they didn't because they knew darn well it would have killed any talks stone dead. This is the way they work.Everyone keeps on about Wasps or the Council did this or did that. I think most times they react to Sisu.I know both of them can be B-----ds at times but sometimes you have use tactics the opposition use.As for this latest situation i feel we will be out of the City for many years unless by some chance Sisu sell up. I also think instead of people on here criticising the Trust at ever turn they should try standing to to get elected or even set up their own forum see how they get shot at at every turn,"covmark" as for the Council being supportive who put up the money to build the stadium when we couldn't afford to if it wasn't for that there would be no club now

The EC have powers to instruct the British government to look at this again. They write the State Aid Rules

Interesting that the council put up the money and then worked in secret to get a rugby club to play there.

So their issue is then with the council and not ccfc? Will they stop dealing with the council then?

I’m asking a question. If you don’t know the answer, just say. I have no idea what the implications for Wasps are. I’m trying to understand why Wasps can’t continue their negotiations with CCFC.

My take on it is that if the EC rule that there has been unlawful state aid then Wasps would become liable for this to ensure the transaction was completed at a commercially acceptable level.

The point still stands, though, that both Wasps and CCC have been steadfast in their belief that there is no wrongdoing. If they are so confident, why does this now prevent them doing a deal? This isn’t going to play out overnight so I’d suggest there may be fears over a longer-term deal but a short-term deal wouldn’t cause any kind of issue. Based on this, I’m calling bullshit.

The stadium was mostly funded when the council bridged the funding gap. And for that we were crippled with an insane rental deal. In the first few years, we paid more in rent for use of facilities 25 days a year than Wasps paid up front for the entire facility on a 250 year lease.

Wouldn't be here if it weren't for the council? WTF are you on about? It was the council who saddled us with SISU, effectively forcing a sale to them because they refused to discuss stadium ownership with other interested parties.

Cannot agree that 'there would be no club now' Clearly it seems the club were struggling financially at Highfield road which the debts were taken to the Ricoh - at that point why did the club not go into administration? which is normal in business if the debts are beyond saving - Bolton wanders are currently in deep trouble give it three months and current troubles will be practically be forgotten - a new consortium will come in and within 2 years they will be probably back in the championship

If you read some of the posts from OSB then the season in Northampton cost millions which Sisu had to cover, no doubt helped by player sales. I would imagine that Wasps are not blind to this and see it as their way of distressing Sisu in a way that Sisu are intent on distressing them with legal action. Neither obviously care about CCFC. The club are simply a pawn that both sides are using to get at the other.
Sisu knew exactly what they were doing by initiating these proceedings in Europe. The demise of our club will simply be collateral damage. I think any groundshare out of the City will see a huge fall off in gates which will have the obvious effect on Robin’s ability to conjure up a team able to compete in this league, let alone challenge. Given the length of time that this set of proceedings is likely to take before there is any resolution, what will be the state of the club and the team by the time it will be all over? What league will we be in? It may even suit Sisu’s finances if we slip further down the pyramid. I would imagine that it would cost a lot less to run a team in the National League or National North or South. Last time, ACL and the council had made it clear that they wanted the club back from Northampton. It was Sisu’s decision as to, if and when we returned. This time that decision is out of their hands and as long as the proceedings continue, we are likely to be at St Andrews or elsewhere with ever decreasing gates and ever decreasing hope.
The only smidgeon of hope is if by some miracle we could play at the Butts, if John Sharp could separate the desperate need of the club from the bunch of shysters that own us.
There is a well orchestrated campaign on here to heap all of the blame onto anyone but Sisu who are being portrayed almost as innocent victims. In truth they are the instrument that has brought all of this to pass ably assisted by CCC and Wasps. All of the ranting and raving at Gilbert, the telegraph and the Trust nicely diverts attention away the real culprits in all of this.
I would willingly join in with any protests organised against Wasps, or CCC as I have in the past against Sisu. The irony is that any of the protests against Sisu were met with a chorus of criticism and “what is the point” comments from many of the very people who now want protests against Wasps. It is telling looking at some of the threads where people are calling for a protest at the Wasps game on Saturday that so few of these people will say they would attend. They want others to protest for them?
Finally, as the Trust is such a poor representative body who are not following the wishes and views of the fan base, form a new one that actually does this. It simply needs some of the very disaffected and dissatisfied people on here to state a concrete venue, date and time to get things up and running. I would be willing to attend. Just lead the way.

Try reading the threads.

There is no reason wasps can't continue because of on the off chance they have to pay anything. It will the fault of them and the council.

Jumping ahead a bit but If we are out of the city when City of Culture civic events happen, we need to turn up en masse in Sky blue (flares, klaxons, whatever - all legal of course!) and sabotage their self congratulatory back slapping in front of the press. Not give them a minute's peace !
I'm up for this, can i also hoy bags of shit at them.
