Regardless of how you feel about women's football, if you are going to watch only one game from the Women's World Cup,
I urge you to tune into England vs Scotland on Sunday.
It is likely to be a fierce and keenly competetive game.
And it could well turn into a banana skin for England's chances of winning the trophy.

Watching the match now in majorca , I'm going to be honest and not PC at all so sorry if I offend.

Just not enjoying watching the standard of football tbh, don't think I will ever enjoy it either..i hope England do well as its England.

1-0 England BTW

I do wonder if their is a fan park in England right now with thousands throwing beer all over the place singing vindaloo lol

Here is a barometer of standard.
Rugby Towns U18s Academy side played Man Utd Ladies and won 3:2
I read somwhere also that a few years back, the USA womens national team played a world cup warm up game against a Mens University side and lost. The US team were world champions.
However, womens football is growing and engaging many many young girls/people in this country and that can only be a good thing.

The US national team lost 5-2 to dallas U15s in 2017.

Beat advert for the Womens World Cup has been the Nations League Finals. Load of players who couldn't give a shit and would rather be on the beach.

Have to agree, it wasn't a great game to put it mildly.
I can't see England progressing far based on that display.
I haven't seen every game but the best teams I've seen so far were France and Norway.
I wouldn't give up on watching women's football based on that game.
I've seen better games between college teams.

I also just watched the USA men's national team get beaten 0-3 at home by Venezuela.
That was even worse, like watching paint dry.
They are truly, truly awful. The worst USA men's team in decades.
The USA women's team is much better to watch.

Strange how the US team is in decline, you would imagine they would be improving as the game is played more and becoming more popular there.. Maybe there are other factors I don't know about

US is based on money. Club owners say we pay the wages so we're not releasing the players and players don't want to risk injury and jeopardise their earning potential. So as it becomes more popular - more money to be made - less likely the best players will be released/want to play.

USA very rarely send their best players to ice hockey tournaments. You get a few big names in basketball tournaments but never the creme de la creme overall, and that is a non-contact sport so injury is a bit less likely. No-one else really plays baseball or US football.

For a country that prides itself on patriotism it's amazing how many of them won't help it out if there's a chance they might lose personal wealth.

Why can't women goalkeepers jump very well ?

I watched the Argentina vs Japan game today and it was excellent. No goals but great skills and passion on display, especially from Argentina.
I think Argentina are going to be an emerging powerhouse in women's football.

Well if you look at the men's and women's high jump and long jump records, women cannot jump as high or as far as men.
They are also on average less tall, their arms are shorter and their hands are smaller.
A 6' woman goalkeeper is rare but male goalkeepers are often well over 6'.

My theory is that many of the USA men's team players now come from the US professional league (MLS).
The standard in that league is pretty poor. About Championship level or maybe a bit lower.
Previously the USA men's team used players playing in the top European or South American leagues.
But currently there seems to be a lack of players of that calibre.

Which should make it more exciting as there could easily be more goals if accurate with longer range shots

Unfortunately, one of the first things that strikes you in comparing women's and men's football is how much weaker women's shots are.
Anything from a distance is usually easily saved by the best goal-keepers.

Very true. That and the fact that the goalkeepers generally are not very good.

The outfield play I think is pretty impressive.

On the subject of goal-keepers, here's a BBC interview.
Dion Dublin interviewing Hope Solo, generally regarded as the best female goal-keeper ever.

They need to make the goals about 2 feet lower and 6 feet narrower. A subbuteo goal would do. They'd still struggle.

Why?
There's not been an unusual amount of goals scored so far.
The only aberration was today's USA 13-0 win over Thailand.
And in that game, Thailand were completely outclassed.
I watched the entire game and most of the goals were due to terrible defending and were scored from point blank range.
Not much any goal-keeper could have done to stop the majority of them.

I’ve discovered that i Prefer to watch England women than men’s. At least the players have a grasp on reality and have some connection to the fan base. The quality of football will come as the tournament progresses.

Haven't there been calls for smaller goals recently by a prominent female footballer or coach?

Is it pick and choose which parts need to be be equal with the men's game?

Yes and smaller pitches too! They cannot run both arguments!

On another note, I have been enjoying the tournament

Don’t have a passion for it either but it’s a decent watch. I’m not one of these people who follow England on everything. Only sports I would say I am passionate for is England men’s football, cricket team, team GB on a few events and of course Cov. I want them all to do well but wouldn’t lose sleep over it

Todays France vs Norway game should be worth watching.
They are the two best sides I've seen so far.
Well apart from the USA, but you can't judge them until they come up against decent opposition.

All these people complaining about the standard of women's football.
Have you watched Coventry City lately?
Maybe instread of making the goal smaller for women, they should make it bigger for men.

Just watching the England v Argentina game. Jonathan Pearce blaming the referee for organising the penalty and taking too much time resulting in England missing the penalty! :D Has to be the worst commentator of all time.

But we are making all the wrong choices around the box

Besides that our general play is pretty good.

But within about 15 mins I said to myself that we may not score tonight. Too many extra touches and trying to beat the wo-man.

Needs a change of tack.
