I keep hearing that but what clout will EC have after October 31st if Boris gets his way.
Anything other than no deal will mean EU law is applied as it was at the time. Even with no deal any future deal will likely require the same.

The casino shouldn't have to rely on football fans from what I've heard it's virtually empty most of the time. I don't know I never go there

I went once after going to Vegas for the first time and getting the casino bug.

What a come down that was.

It needs to be part of a complex with bars and other entertainment. That bit by the canal would be perfect but instead we’ve been pissing about with ownership and the site never gets developed.

I’ve got a mate that seems to play a lot of poker tournaments there. But I’d imagine you can host them anywhere with a table.

The do host some big tournaments.

Regardless, I'm sure it runs off a few thousands in matchdays. It's pretty busy after.

Would be interesting to see what would happen if it did close. It's a big space to be sat empty.

As somone said it's a huge space that could be diversified into bars, 3 or 4 different types of restaurants and a casino. But it needs footfall all of which they will miss out on with us not being there. Am sure the operator are not happy with wasps/the situation.

The plan is fook Wasps why go back after 3 months when they are on their arse. The long season will suit us fine as they will be more in the shit. I bet CCFC wouldnt go back for free. Let them drown and go under it wont take long.
Small pain long term gain we need this stadium sorting once and for all.

I know a hedge fund that would be perfect owners and could develop that.

I honestly don't think the council will ever let SISU gain control of the stadium. I think they would prefer it knocked down for housing if Wasps go pop rather than handing it to SISU.

aren't we constantly told that the CCC have strict guidelines when making decisions and that personal feelings don't come in to the decision making process?

We're also told that CCC act in the best interest of the Coventry council tax payer so surely if there ever was a chance of sisu gaining control of the stadium any proposed deal would be assessed in a purely professional manner by the council, (stop sniggering).

The best result for all is for a deal to be arranged with someone to buy the club from sisu at a rate that reflects them owning a stadium and the council selling them the stadium once it has been returned to them after London Wasps can’t fulfil their bonds. I agree it needs to be sorted properly this time, no short term fixes and I’d support a medium term share outside the city if it meant we returned with our destiny in our own hands. Selling the Ricoh to London Wasps was the single worst thing to ever happen to us and until the situation comes to a head it won’t improve.

How will wasps going under sort out the stadium ?

As it will be a white elephant without an anchor tenant. Money talks along with local resident pressure and that's where we can all do our bit....

Best case senerio as far as I can see in that instance is the council offering the club a rental, and we are back to sq 1 with the lack of income from f+b etc.

I just can’t see how sisu will get their hands on the stadium. Even if they win the case, wasps have to hand the stadium back and CCC owe CCFC damages for Northampton / Birmingham etc, would CCC not just give them the money and then cut budgets elsewhere rather than give them a stadium ?

But what use is the stadium to The Council? Why would they want it? If they don't sell it to CCFC (or whoever) it is a huge white elephant. SISU will say - no rental thanks, we want to buy (otherwise...., as in the Northampton scenario)

Not sure EFL would be too happy that an option to return to the city on pretty much the same terms as the current option of not playing in the city would be turned down

They will owe us a shed load for damages from their sneaky state aid, personal vendetta approach to running the council on behalf of the community.

Just random numbers here but if they owe us 10million in damages we can have it off the independently valued price of the stadium. SISU would then bye it.

Anyone care to guess what the Ricoh is worth?

What the penalty for the inappropriate use of state aid might be?

If CCC owed CCFC damages, which would be in the tens of millions, why wouldn’t they hand the stadium over if they had possession, rather than deplete council (I.e. taxpayers) cash reserves whilst keeping hold of a white elephant.

It was only worth whatever paltry sum wasps paid for it, a few million, apparently. Would hardly have increased in value if wasps crash, would it?

Tens of millions ?. How come ?. What would they be claiming ?

Wasps paid around 20m (5.5 + 14.4 loan) within weeks it was valued at considerably more, maybe double, cant remember, if the EC rule against the council that difference may have to be made up, it could possibly be 20m to be recouped one way or another.

Surely it would be a case that wasps would have to give the stadium back, CCC pay wasps the money they paid back and CCC would face a fine ?

At what point would SISU benefit ?

And all underpinned by the 'City of peace and reconciliation' mantra followed by our elected leaders at all times, without any trace of rancour, spite or vindictiveness.

When the council have an empty stadium and need someone to occupy it.
More likely outcome ( and none of us have any idea) is that wasps have to stump up the correct value for the stadium and can’t, and ccc have a hefty fine that isn’t offset by an additional payment from a bankrupt rugby franchise. Empty stadium reverts to the council along with the egg all over their faces. And I have made no allowance for civil damages.

The value of the opportunities lost. But you are a wasp and council lover so you won’t see it that way.

Sorry ?.

Never been (or would ever go) to a wasps game and have no interest in a council that I don’t contribute to or doesn’t support their local sports team. Not sure why I would love either of those ?. Do tell why I love wasps ?

Opportunities lost are the income from ticket sales in northampton And Birmingham aren’t they ? Not sure that loss would go into the tens of millions. At £20 a ticket, 10000 missing fans and 20 home games, that’s only £4m a year ?

Agree with the “nobody knows” bit, which is why I am curious. In your senerio (which maybe right), that would wipe out wasps, council have the stadium and owe a fine.

Still cant see that they would then sell the stadium to sisu, and if they did, it would have to be at the market price set out in the case ?
