Marosi 4 - should have saved first, implicated in second and maybe 4th. I’m sure he’s an upgrade on Burge, but didn’t look it today.
Dabo 3 - kept trying, but couldn’t do anything right.
Mason 6 - the only decent defender, iffy crossing.
Hyam 4 - started ok, got infected by the lunacy
McFadz 2 - passing was dire from start, and his defending went from poor to risible
Walsh 4 - knocked off the ball far too easily. Midfield improved once he went, even with 10 men.
Shipley 5 - kept going, some nice touches second half, but a comedy classic shot
O’Hare 7 - constantly trying to make things happen with little luck or support. Impressed, especially given the rest of the nonsense
Kastaneer 4 - a couple of deft turns, but was expecting explosiveness and power and got a lot of lackadaisical dawdling.
Hiwula 4 or 5 - don’t really know, because he was pretty anonymous
Godden 5 - tried hard, little service
Kelly 7 - we improved the moment he came on, and got a foothold in midfield. Linked well with O’Hare and Shipley
Bakayoko 4 - got in good positions 2 or 3 times, then squandered them
Rose 6 - not sure if he deserves that many, but he was a big upgrade.
Edit - just seen 4th again - make that another 4 (thought it was Hyam)
SBA 5 - kept supporting to the end, but wish we didn’t have so many tossers

Best write that one off, but but be ready to be pressed to death if we keep playing it out from the back so religiously.

Very poor performances from basically everyone but Mason & O'Hare looked ok.

Kastaneer - seems to drift about in a world of his own. Numerous times he could have made a simple off the ball run further wide to offer Dabo an outlet - didn't do it.

Dabo - got done for pace by their left winger several times.

McFadz - shocker.

Hyam - unrecognisable.

Walsh - no point playing fancy passes and trying clever flicks if you can't do the basics. We're in League 1, got to be able to keep it simple in his position. It was like he was trying to impress scouts or something.

Shipley - scissor kick didn't reach the corner flag. At least made me chuckle.

Hiwula - Average at best, but I liked when he came and got involved on the opposite flank...shows that the formation isn't totally rigid.

Godden - got out muscled.

and Marosi - Should've done better for first goal. This playing out from the back is pissing me off a bit, if you have technically very reliable defenders then fine, today should be evidence that plan a is actually quite risky. For every team in league 1 that wants ball playing defenders/keeper, there'll be one that knows how to press more or less properly.

I hope MR has a plan B, even if it's a lot less 'trendy' as plan A. We'll have to see...

Have to say the fans were a disgrace today also. Took the kids and had to endure foul mouthed drunk morons all game. 5 flares, 2 fag lighters, half a dozen bottles all thrown on the pitch. People smoking I'm their seats, stealing beer (that's why it was banned at HT) and countless peado type chants. Sorry guys but I didn't enjoy that one bit.

I agree with these sentiments. A fair percentage of people acted with no repect for anyone or anything. Seems to be a worrying trend. It was simlar at Accrington two years ago.

Ive followed Coventry away for a very long time. I never remember fans being like this.

As for game, Rotherham were superior in all departments.

Marosi 6 - reasonable distribution considering their high press. Sold down the river with all 4 goals.

Dabo 4 - never tight enough to his man. Lacked support on the right but not a good performance.

McFadzean 2 - well, I’ve seen someone beat Marcus Hall’s performance at Derby back in 2009. Absolutely disgraceful, especially from a senior pro.

Hyam 4 - really lacked composure, played into their trap numerous times.

Mason 4 - looked rusty. Really surprised by his performance today. Again, no support from Hiwula on the left.

Walsh 4 - don’t try and turn every time you receive the ball. Failed to make his mark on the game. He’s better than that.

Shipley 4 - anonymous. Again, regressed to his performances last season. Let down by a lack of courage around him.

O’Hare 5 - failed to look after the ball for me. Should have read the game situation better at times, trying to use his body to shield the ball but the opponent was stepping in front more often than not.

Kastaneer 5 - let down the right hand side going wandering. Needed more of the ball as he had the beating of his man.

Hiwula 4 - also anonymous. Rarely offered for the ball. Probably the poorest performance of this season, even considering some of the showings.

Godden 5 - can’t hammer him too much as he didn’t get service. Isolated but equally didn’t keep the ball when it was sent up to him.

Won’t bother rating the subs as the game was done and dusted by then. Rotherham went man-for-man and were much more physical than we’re used to. Some real naivety today in the style of play, and also the lack of a Plan B with Biamou not on the bench. Disappointed, but you have to accept mistakes in our style. Let’s hope they’re all out of our system for the next 10 games after today!

Let’s be fair. We were 2-0 down against Blackpool and kept playing the same way. I can’t recall anybody moaning about that being unsuccessful.
Theres a difference between playing possession football at home with no press from the opposition and doing the same away from home against a team that have clearly done their homework and are giving us absolutely no time on the ball at all.
Yes Blackpool were 2-0 to the good, but were pressing nothing like Rotherham were today. Blackpool scored their 1st goal with a fluke cross minutes in to the game and the 2nd was one of very few attacks from them, Rotherham pressed us hard and high from the 1st minute and scored 4 goals from it.
Comparing the 2 games shows how little you clearly know about the game.

Marosi 4 More than played his part in the defensive shambles but also a couple of reasonable saves that stopped it being more.

Dabo 4 Definitely one he’ll want to forget-we won’t in a hurry though!.

Hyam 4 Not as bad as McFadz but tried to be.

McFadzean 1 Only because he was on the team sheet. Set the tone for his afternoon giving the ball away 3-4 times in the first 10 mins and it got considerably worse from then on. 2 penalties and a red card and then had the audacity to clap the fans on the way off! An absolute horror show-reminded me of Andy Webster but even that performance would be doing Webster a disservice!

Mason 5 Best of the worst in defence but can’t get higher because of the defensive unit conceding 4 but at least looked competent.

Walsh 3 Bullied off the ball too easy and was fairly anonymous and rightly subbed.

O’Hare 6 Best player on the pitch by a mile and kept his head up and at least competed and looked a threat till the end.

Shipley 4 When he is bad he is bad-and today he was bad! Nice Di Canio impression at the end that went out for a throw.

Kasteneer 3 As expected lasted about 60 minutes, didn’t contribute much and was playing in his slippers. Somebody remind him to bring his boots next week.

Hiwula 2 Seems to be going backwards-didn’t even know he had been taken off until my son pointed it out.

Godden 4 So so isolated on his own-can’t really do much if nothing is really coming your way.

Subs Kelly 5 Could of done with him being fit really from the start.

Rose 4 Took the McFadzean mantle on with a hand in the forth goal.

Bakayoko 3 Just a comedy figure who for some reason has some sort of affinity with the fans.
Ironically had our 2 best chances, one where he didn’t really shoot or cross and one header from 6 yards that was straight at the keeper. Another chance where he went to header the ball in the 6 yard box and it came off his shoulder. Nothing more than pub player.

The worst I have seen in a long time-probably since the Northampton defeat during the relegation season.

We have been unbeaten all season, so I wouldn't suddenly change it.

However, there is a time and a place. 1-0 down and pissing around with it against a team who have clearly done their homework isn't the time. Plan B Is needed in these situations.

What made it worse was the continuing of it at 2-0 down in the second half!
Yes, I agree, we have only lost 1 game so no knee jerk reactions are needed.
But I put us not losing until today down to our never say die attitude in the final 3rd of the pitch. I think the signs of throwing goals away from defense has been there since day dot. I agree, we need to play out from the back and carry on as we have, but as an as and when not a must do. As it stands, we are playing from defense regardless. Almost as if the lads are more worried about a bollocking for NOT playing out than they are a bollocking for fuckimg up when they do.

I think these lot might have had something to do with the sour atmosphere today. The SI Brigade were out in force with a flag.
Glad I gave today a swerve. As much for the off field antics as the result.

I’ll put in a request then to the board then to sack Robins as you obviously know far more about the game than he does.

Flairs, theiving, smoking and drinking in the stands, racism, throwing lighters and bottles at the pitch/players. Did I miss anything else out? I dont call these fellow fans, and not the sort of people I want my family to be sat amongst at a football match.
Why dont you fucking grow up?!

The only thing embarrassing is all the 40 something year old blokes walking round wearing SI hoodies from Wellsebourne thinking they're in Green Street. That's fucking embarrassing mate.

I just checked and on the Rotherham forum, McFadzean is getting mostly 8's.

Slightly different circumstances to be fair.

You could see from minute one that they knew they could force mistakes. It didn't need to be a drastic change of plan, but for the second there is no way we should be messing around at the back.

Marosi - 5 not wholly convinced by his efforts on the first goal but at least had the presence of mind to start going long early in the first half

Dabo - 3 poor all game
McFadzean - 1 one of the worst individual performances you could script for a defender
Hyam - 4 docked points for being dispossessed in the centre circle and being part of the defensive débâcle
Mason - 7 pretty good, though he shouldn't have let Smith cross so easily for their first

O'Hare - 6 had an off-day, unfortunately, but still did plenty of ace controls, neat passes, ball carrying etc
Walsh - 4 repeatedly gave the ball away and looked out of his depth
Shipley - 5 but get him off free kicks unless we're away at Luton

Kastaneer - 5 did some all right things, particularly in the first half
Godden - 5 I'm beginning to wonder now how he'll get goals. Mostly inoffensive but put himself about a bit anyway
Hiwula - 2 can't remember his doing anything at all

Bakayoko - 3 burst forwards and stuff, made three chances look harder than they were
Kelly - 4 poor and sold Hyam short for their fourth
Rose - 3 cheers, that made it four to them

is that it?

Rotherham were limited but Hastie looked tidy against Dabo and Crooks and Smith were a raight 'andful.

Today was a bad day and for all our great battling so far this season (and at times we have been lucky through hard work getting back into games), we have played some fantastic football but still not putting teams away as we maybe should, Godden is more and more isolated, he may as well go for a cross country run instead of playing a game of football at times, this is not a gripe but my observation at the way Robins likes his teams to play. Look at JCH pretty dire when he was here now scoring more than we thought he was capable of doing even Chaplins scored a couple in a higher league, but lets not get down, the tactics so far have worked but now we have to slightly change our approach to out think teams ...over to you Mark

One chap particularly entertained me at half time smoking on the concourse. Told him that they’d opened up outside so people could smoke, he replied “yeah I know” and carried on.

Having just watched the goals back Marosi is lucky to score anything above a 2. Blood on his hands for all four goals.

McFadzean overdoes the keep ball style at the back and is a bit of an accident waiting to happen, although I guess it did actually happen today (as well as Portsmouth earlier in the season). He's also not very quick, as the mix up from the Kelly pass back really showed. I thought Rose and Hyam played pretty well together when McFadzean was out for a few games previously, so his suspension might benefit the team hopefully. Anyhow, there were many other poor performance today, and the only player I thought could truly hold his head up was O'Hare, who right to the end was driving forward, giving his all for a lost cause.

The more I watch it the more I think Marosi is at fault for the 4th. Obviously Hyam fucked up horrendously and you could argue the buck stops there, but what the fuck is Marosi positioning himself there for???

He’s still an improvement on the previous dross though.

Haha was waiting for you.

Can you point out any games last year where Burge had a hand in 4 goals?

He's looking worse as the weeks go on. He's miles better with the ball at his feet than Burge but he's been culpable for a lot of goals so far this season.

At the time I felt the first was a shit header and even worse save and I think I was right. Also Mason got done big time
