He really doesn't like him. It's like when he blamed him randomly for a goal against Walsall when Burge dropped a clanger.

He has just spent £750k on Godden who has some pretty bad misses to his name so far also.

Godden looks like he’s played well over 100 games Bakayoko doesn’t - he’s got zero awareness of what’s going on around him

I would say Robin's assessment of Bakayoko is absolutely spot on. He's a unit, and whilst he may still be relatively young he's played just shy of 200 first team games. That's a lot of experience, and after that many games he should be far more competent than he is.

Sounds like a system change will be coming with a number 9 who can play with Godden 4312 I feel we will be going too soon.

He needs to realise he's a target man that has to play with aggression and bully defenders. He stills thinks he can be the new Thierry Henry.

I think the article might make it sound harsher than Robins intended if you just look at his quotes. The article makes it seem he's being bomb squadded and on his way out but Robins quotes seem more a kick up the backside to get his act together.

Does sound like he's considering a change of formation to suit Godden and potentially dipping back into the transfer market. Of course a decent goalscorer won't come cheap so he must think he'll have money to spend.

Robins is essentially calling Bakayoko a lazy c*nt with a bad attitude.

Not sure but probably a bit harsh if accurate. Bakayoko has created chances for us closing down defenders/keepers in games, so he can and does put effort it. I think it's more lack of awareness as to what is the intelligent thing to do - where to run, how to create space etc. - so he just ends up standing there looking lost Chasing down a keeper doesn't require thought.

Walsall fans said he wasn't what you'd expect of someone who's 6'4'' (sorry, 193cm - we're ruled by the EU you know ;)) and his build. You expect a big bruising centre forward getting stuck in. That seems to be what MR expects from him and is frustrated he's not getting. But I can't see what other type of forward he is either to be honest - he not blessed with skill with the ball, he's not a poacher, he's not a quick player playing off the shoulder of the last man.....

IIRC the Walsall fans also said there was nothing wrong with his attitude - he was always willing to do the community aspects etc but maybe that's part of why he isn't this big bullying centre forward? He's just a nice guy and it doesn't suit his personality.

I disagree. To call him a lazy c**t with a bad attitude is harsh.

To say he's a very limited footballer both mentally and technically who's probably too nice to play the role you'd expect of him is more accurate.

Think some of the comments are a bit harsh. There’s something in him definitely (great goal the other week and when he’s fired up - Walsall at home last year - he’s a handful) but consistency and using his attributes will determine if he can make a good career for himself.

Yeah definitely something in him & it’s not even close to a professional footballer

Look at the goals he's scored. He has displayed all the attributes required of a striker at this level in scoring those goals so I don't think it's fair to say he has no ability, Robins himself has said he has a lot of ability.

Unfortunately he has no consistency, no fight and no heart. His effective contributions have been very few and far between

I think Robins comments are a last desperate gambit to spur some fight and aggression in him but unfortunately I don't think it will work.

Defended him when he first got here as I'm not going got go off what other teams fans say, he's shown glimpses of what he can do but overall not good enough.
Still going to say so far though. But the same goes for every player, if you can get a better player in, that's what you do, you can only wait for someone to improve for so long.

I’d say he was playing for his professional career as I’m pretty sure no one will sign him after his contract runs out at the end of this season.

But we all knew he wasn’t good enough based on what Walsall told us...
Prefer to see it with my own eyes and not based on what others say.
Portsmouth fans said Tom Davies was garbage but he did a more than good job for us.
Unfortunately the Walsall fans were right regarding Baka.

"But I am looking now, already, for another No.9 who is going to play up front with Matty Godden ."

certainly not saying Baka is it, but have they actually played together for more than a few mins so far in a game ?

Robins also says “If he can do that, get hold of the ball and bring out his physicality in the right way then he’s going to be a big threat. He’ll be a big, big threat ... He’s got an unbelievable chance of a brilliant career so let’s see how he comes back from it." which doesn't sound like he's written him off.

exactly. so if he's looking for someone to play with Godden, at least lets look at what we have,

Wilson, madders one should move in January (I hope).

I would give max/godden a try. Compared to Baka, Max has a much better footballing brain and can link play. My only concern with him is pace but there are many forward link men such as crouch, Nial Quinn etc who forged great partnerships and were no more mobile than the average pensioner.

They oddly score goals

no club aspiring for promotion would have either of these jokers in the squad

even Bakayoko is better in terms of forward ability than a fit Biamou let alone a hopelessly unfit one

This is exactly how I read it. I think Robins really does see a player in there somewhere, but needs to see more from Baka before too long.

Personally I can’t see it myself and think he will he moved on ASAP.

Disagree. Similar goal scoring records, but Max works harder for the team. I think your blind hatred of Biamou is blinkering your opinion here and whilst I'm n
ot suggesting either is the answer, I'd certainly have Max over Baka every time.

I have said before that my issue with Bakayoko, as much as I want him to succeed, is there is no redeeming factor that I have seen on any sort of regularity. He doesn't have blistering pace, he doesn't win headers ans as Robins alludes to, no where near enough physicality and aggression.

I wonder if you could play a 442 diamond (considering the lack of wingers we have) ans play Ohare at the top behind Max and Godden, Kelly sitting with Walsh and Shipley either side .

Not for me. The point of playing a 442 with a big man little man combo is to get balls into the box quickly and particularly from wide. This goes against the whole ethos we've been deploying and the personnel we have, particularly in your example lacking the much needed width.

That said, I do think we're struggling with 433 and I can see a change but rather than 442, perhaps to 4231. Still Godden up top, but supported by Hiwula, Shipley & O'Hare, with Walsh & Kelly sitting deeper. Packs the midfield and still affords the space to play out from the back. Possibly a little negative, but against better opposition and away from home I can see the merits.

I would be happy if they could hold the ball up better to allow the midfield to get up and press! At MK on saturday Hiwula and Baka could'nt trap a medicine ball between them! In Fact one pass to Hiwula bounced back of him futher than the pass actually started.

I would go 4231 aswell, get Ohare close to godden but I am merely trying to find a way that you could have someone with Godden upfront as Robins had potentially hinted at in his interview, whether it would work or not, I dont know but we have zero wide players fit, Hiwula and Kastaneer both are inside forwards, Jobello is injured and is the only wide player who is a 'winger ' as such.

If you got Dabo and Mason further up they could provide the width and you have Kelly drop in when they do commit.

I agree with you that 4231 would work and Ohare in no10 role

I find it frustrating that JCH left and is doing well at Bristol Rovers. When we allowed him to leave, I thought it was the right thing for us, on the basis he wasn't scoring many. Now he's had a good start to the season and I think "why couldn't we get those goals out of him when he was with us?"

I think it is possible to play two up top without wingers. Wingers are best if you've got a 'proper' centre forward to challenge for crosses and either aim at goal or have the second striker sniffing around for knockdowns/second balls. We don't, with Biamou arguably the closest thing to that. Plus we don't really have any wingers with Jobello injured anway

if your strikers are players who like the ball to feet or to run onto and you've got someone who can play a good through ball or run through a defence. I believe that it what we've got. O'Hare can pass players and pass, Shipley has done some impressive throughballs and it's probably Westbrookes best attribute too. Godden is more comfortable with the ball at his feet, as is Hiwula (even Ponti would be worth a look in that system as a poacher). If one has made the run it gives the other a chance to get into the area and pick up any scraps or offer the striker another option and have the defence in two minds whereas at the moment it's easier for the opposition because our striker only has one choice.

The striker recruitment has been poor since probably McNulty BUT this 1 up front bullshit hasn’t helped them...Chaplin 3 ft 2 being played on his own up front was pathetic,Robins being a striker himself playing under Sir Alex I don’t get why he doesn’t see to be able to get his strikers scoring.

Who ever was behind the Bakayoko signing should never be allowed near a football club again I’ve see better players on a Sunday than that clown hopefully we can offload him in jan.
