His tenure at Man U was a failure even with the 2 trophies. And he certainly doesn't stay anywhere long enough cos he gets sacked!!!

That's his biggest problem is the negativity, I've gone from loving him to hating him in 3/4 years and it shows in his teams style. He has a perfect chance to turn that around now as he has to be offensive with that Spurs squad surely. Time will tell. If he's not got a job in 2 years then he's done as a big club manager.

I would argue winning the two Europa Leagues at Utd is better than anything Poch did at Spurs. Poch’s downfall will be that he openly admits he doesn’t care about winning trophies.

Reckon we'll see this, he clearly wasn't happy at United, living in a hotel away from his family I believe, clearly clashed with Pogba and probably didn't handle that situation well, he loves London life.
Think he'll do well at Spurs, think Poch will do well wherever he goes,
Sometimes working relationships just come to a natural end, Poch should be remembered at WHL as the bloke who put Spurs over Arsenal for a number of years and took them to the CL final.
Think this is a huge job for him and will show whether he still has the hunger for management and more importantly hasn't been left behind by the modern game.
I'd say if he's not won a trophy by the end of 2022 he'll be a firm fixture next to Roy Keane in the sky sports studio

Well season on season they've never been in CL 4 years in a row, I would've thought that during his first bad spell and considering they went 3 windows without signing a player whilst new stadium is being built he can feel harshly treated by being sacked in November.

Purely out of interest do you regard top 4 or one of the "lesser" cups as the greater achievement? On a personal note I believe in the current climate top 4 is the aim for every chairman and manager.

i am old school. i respect all trophies and i hope i never change from that pov
united were already out of top 4 when he joined, he qualified them for season after via eruopa win then next season top 4. then fell out of places before leaving the club halfway thru season. it was a bad ending but that doesnt mean you discount all that was good before hand
also have said utd his worst stint at a club but when you see how everyone else done post fergy he obv didnt do that bad at all. he clinched cl qualification in both of his first 2 full seasons and won 2 cups(3 if include community shield)
way too much being put on a bad ending which seems to happen to vast majority of managers everywhere anyway

There wasn't that much good in the grand scheme of proportionate relevance. Spending what he did with a club that has more financial clout than any other he should not have had 1 good season then gone for a burton. Anyway, it looks like we respectfully disagree on what purports as success but that's not a problem, I'm sure the next two years should answer the current questions raised. I look forward to seeing it unfold (or unravel!).

Has been is harsh, I said in decline, he needs to change his tactics, transfer philosophy and quite honestly his negative attitude if he wants to be competing with the top 2. I will bang the drum again though: if he was that good at united why was he sacked? If it's purely down to your Pogba theory then doesn't that show he was too weak for the job?

I don't know what these second-level clubs expect, he finished in the top four for four seasons and got to the Champions League final.
This season did not go so well, but that was to be expected eventually.
They don't have a players budget like the other top clubs.
In a way Pochettino was a victim of his own success.
He did so well for so long, the mangement got greedy and wanted even more.
But I think the appointment of Mourinho will turn out to be a disaster for them.

Mourinho is a class manager. He’s a win at all costs manager. You can’t knock the run in the Europa league or the win. You can only play who you get drawn against and ultimately you have to go on and win it.
