I know some go just before 90 minutes to beat the traffic/congestion...though this hasn't been bad recently!

Never got this. You wouldn't leave the cinema 10 mins before the end.

When i lived in Cov i went to every game bar work. I took my Nephew who was a Leeds fan (his dad was) so i just kept taking him to games knowing one day i would win (including u21 games). He is now a city fan and works for the club. I would drop him off home then drink until i was stupid (a villa fan lol). Back at HR, i would leave my seat 4 or 5 mins early, buy 4 pints, 2 for me and my mate then be back for kick.off. Watch all the second half and go home (pissed off/clubbing as we won).

I am not a drinker and my match day experience is not enhanced/tainted by the bonhomie of a bar. I have been to the Roost on a couple of occasions and found it a positive vibe far removed from the Coventry match day scene.
What I don't understand is why you would go to a football match to stay in the bar whilst it is played or go to a game to get smashed?
At the Notts County game at Meadow Lane, when we lost, there was a guy who got on the same train at Nuneaton and then the same return in the evening. He was so out of it that he probably thought we had won. On second thoughts....

The one I don’t get is the odd person who sits as near as they can to the away end and then spend the whole game not watching the game instead choosing to spend the game facing the away crowd shouting abuse at them and making hand gestures. Why?

These are fans who pay for a ticket, travel to an away game and spend the entire time drinking in the underbelly of the away end. Never once coming out to watch the match!!

All those videos of them with flares and pints flying in the air. Looks brilliant-until you realise that there’s a fuckin match going on!

They’re singing City songs whilst choosing to not watch them, literally 10 yards away.

I raised this on here after the Birmingham city game when I went for a pee fifteen minutes into the second half and approx 100 plus lads with city shirts on still drinking. Couldn’t believe it and smacks of not really that interested in the game despite them saying they are.

Same at every ground in the country, more money then sence.
I dont drink at games anymore so that I dont need to go for a piss halfway through been there got the teeshirt.

Things to consider:

The discipline involved to not walk that extra 10 yards to cheer on your heroes but to remain in the breeze block concourse drinking over priced pissy lager and risking soiling the garishly coloured Stone Island over shirt their mum and dad bought for Christmas with flying beer and condiments is incredible. Should be an Olympic event. Got nothing but admiration.

I agree, I want to watch the match myself. I started going up the City as an 8 year old for love of wanting to watch the football rather the love of drinking and I guess that’s stayed with me.
We’re playing some fantastic football this season too and getting results, plenty to make people want to watch the football rather than sling beer about on a concourse surely?

I saw this for the first time with my own eyes in the toilets at Southend last week at helf time. I couldnt work it out either. My first thought was what a waste of money (and no I wasnt thinking about Bakayoko!).

No banning order, i generally think he always intends to go the game but starts getting on the beer and then just doesn't want to leave the pub. I can't get my head round it but its happend that much it doesn't surprise me anymore.
