Have you not been watching/listening to the 2 experts either side of Boris saying what our plan is? Or are you just going to ignore that completely

Yes, it seems to be dictated by behavioural scientists.

We are the only country in the world with this plan of 'let everyone get infected.'

I refer you back to the chart. Early days I admit, but it's not working.

South Africa has declared a state of emergency and closed borders. No gatherings over 100 people.

They have 62 cases.

How am i trying to wind him up? Im saying what the experts are saying.... or are you blind?

And are you blind to the dozens, hundreds even, of experts who are saying to do the complete opposite?

What are your thoughts on the chart I posted?

Their 'strategy' was to do nothing and hope it would flatten the curve.

It does not seem to be working. Turns out doing nothing is actually a bad thing.

Eh? The graph is on deaths and shows the opposite?

Please explain how they have made a total mess of it so far? Didn't realise you were an expert on diseases.....

We need to follow what the experts are saying and thats what Boris is doing fool

Here’s a good article explaining what we’re getting wrong.

In a nutshell: comms are terrible, science isn’t clear, strategy is high risk for no obvious reward, and we seem to be delaying mostly because of very shaky “behavioural science” than any actual medical or economic reason. Also our actions are based on a whole boat load of unprovable assumptions.

Awesome - another country which has no interest in supporting the economy - how long they closing for?

And it’s silly we’ve only had 2 days since our 10th death so way too soon to say

if Germany had 4 deaths in a day they’d break the scale

If you started a thread about cats it would descend into politics within no time.

Some people just can't help themselves.
You don’t think politics has any prevalence in a debate about Coronavirus and the different ways
The Government are attempting to fight it off.
Very Strange.

He's not much use now.

Please enlighten me on the graph.

If Germany had 4 deaths in one day once they reach 10 it would show then as worse than Italy as a trend even though they and we are at less than 2% versus 7% - the “once it reaches 10” is designed to fool people like you - id take the 1 in 100 versus 8 times that if I were you

This thread is actually intended for discussion about the effects of the virus on football but it's just turned into another brexit slanging match.

I said the chart shows that our curve is not flattening.

You said it shows the opposite.

Please tell me where on that chart it shows our curve flattening.

Sadly there are some people who will not believe anything the government says even in the face of the evidence.

Also it shows that maths departments of the last 30 years have faileedto teach people how to read graphs or understand percentages relevant to starting value.

Kind of understandable when they roll out Matt Hancock to try and discredit the official statements of the previous day, then go into hiding.

If the figures are accurate and testing isn't slowing then looks like the last 24 hours were a 'good' day

I think since we’ve changed tack with testing the numbers aren’t worth much, hence the move to deaths which doesn’t depend on strategy as much. Regardless let’s hope so. Three data points to make a trend remember.

The more this virus reveals itself and the inevitable economic decline/collapse
That will follow any prolonged lockdown.
The more I find myself coming round to your way of thinking.

WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu: "We have a simple message for all countries - test, test, test."

Not simple enough for the UK. Can they dumb it down a bit more for our government?

He does no such thing. They have said all asking they will implement more measures it's a case of when they think it will be most effective.

This ain't the time for political bullshit

Its just Ringpieces way of trying to score points, i wouldn't listen.......even though he all of a sudden thinks he's the expert and everybody is wrong apart from himself

@Ring Of Steel is now a chief scientific and medical adviser, move along Professor Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance

He did though. Patrick Vallance said the UK's plan is herd immunity and then a day or two later Hancock said it isn't.

He then put his plan for dealing with the pandemic in an article behind a paywall, which was nice of him.

No he did not. Patrick Vallance said to build up some kind of hard immunity to slow transmission. Nowhere did he say that was their plan.

The plan has always been mainly to slow the rate of transmission.
