Single income family in London might disagree with you TBF. That’s what? £30k/year? (I assume this is pre tax)
Yeah tbf London's a special case though, isn't it, and probably needs some weighting, anyway.

(Jobs in my sector in London can sometimes start beneath that, mind you!)

Love this quote :

Boris Johnson says he "doesn't want to get into moral name calling" and accepts that "what we're doing is extraordinary" by taking away the right of British people "to go to the pub".

"I understand how people feel," he adds.

But, he says to those "who go against the clear advice" from experts, that they would not only be putting their lives and their families' lives at risk - but "you're endangering the community" and making it harder to help the NHS and save lives.

Could well be coming again mate. Only minor benefit is the low (free) cost of long term government borrowing. No doubt this will be painful for all but let’s get through this first

Gawd love ya Steve. I know we won’t agree but don’t worry, the economy will boom after this from feel good factor alone, I’m not worried. Debt will skyrocket everywhere and we’ll pay it off over a hundred years or more and inflation and growth will reduce it. As long as we don’t cut demand from the economy through austerity. Trust in Keynes.

Also it's still loans which would only help if it was deferred income

Love how Boris is handing all this money out where’s he getting it from ? Who’s paying for it ?

Hahahahahahahaha. Love it.

He’s made the rod for his own back with all the household economics bollocks and it’s going to come back and bite him. Oh the irony.

not heard much to disagree with. I'm sure once someone clever gets into the detail of the financial packages they'll be a few gripes but I think it all sounds fairly reasonable. Closing the pubs and restaurants had to happen in my opinion.
Said it would happen. We are still running a week behind France. Next will come lockdown. This weekend if the same timescale is kept to.

Let’s hope so, bit of Boris Boosterism (sorry I could resist :))

Ironically I've now got watery eyes, blotchy /itchy skin, bit of a runny nose...

No dry cough, temperature, or anything however.

I'd muse on the irony if my household ends up laid low with some other disease!

Suspect however it might be being stuck in the same place all the time, and some mild allergy to something flaring up - will open lots of windows over the weekend and stand in the garden like a dipstick.

Bizarre. I’ve come down with headache, runny eyes and nose and a cough. No high temp. But what’s thrown me is your reference to red and blotchy skin. I have a rash on my inner arm that has come up out of nowhere, red itchy and blotchy.

Who has said we should go into lockdown at all? Let alone weeks ago? People have been asking for stronger “advice” or enforced shutting of pubs, no one is asking for lockdown.
You not been looking at the posts from PVA?

But it is only 80 percent of their normal take home people are still poorer and will spend less.

actually probably more as it is 80% of gross
also, less to spend their money on, no transport requirements etc
I suspect most could survive on 80% of gross in the current conditions
