So what would you suggest?
Middle aged white men (of which I'm one) are great at telling people what they should and shouldn't do in response to things they've never actually experienced.
Even when they silently kneel they get tear gassed and rubber bullets fired at them. There's no doubt there has been unnecessary violence, but from a minority. When you have that many people mobilised, there's always going to be bellends. Like there were loads of bellends at Rotherham away etc. Society has bellends, the more people involved the more bellends there will be which will detract from the message, or in our case making our fans look like we're all dicks. Anyway, I didnt mean for that example to detract from the severity of what has happened. If for decades you've seen your race murdered by those who are meant to protect you and have tried countless methods of trying to stop this and still to this day they are being treated in such a disgraceful manner, and peaceful protests are met with huge aggression by 'police', who wouldn't you fight back?

Colin Kaepernick mounted a peaceful protest and the president of his country called him a son of a bitch, at some point people realised they weren't being listened to

Their whole second amendment argument rests on civilians being able to resists tyrannical forces. When guns start being used for that purpose the people in power don't like it

We're at a point now where we'll see if all those people that insisted they needed their guns to maintain their second amendment rights were telling the truth or not.

There’s a swathe of gun toting unhinged racists in America looking for an excuse to go out and gun someone down because of the colour of their skin. Trump is about to provide that excuse for them and then it will be 1000 times worse.

It’s like a fucking horror film.

I’m wholly against the mad gun ownership rules they have in America but if I was black there now I’d be arming myself and making sure I’m congregated with friends or family whenever possible. There is absolutely no chance that some nutter isn’t planning a revenge attack.

Exactly.

He’s going to end up inciting a civil war because the polls look bad for him. The sad thing is people will start droning on about “the radical left” and he may actually benefit. At the moment I think he’s being shown up for the massive dickhead he is but not sure how long that will last.

I'm all for the intervention into racism, whether that is policing or in general society.

I must say though, some of the actions of people I don't think is helping the cause. Neither is margilasing people by race and causing what is in my view, is more segregation.

I can understand the rhetoric behind black lives matter, but those who shoot down the 'all lives matter' crew need to have a think.

Those people won't be won over by being told that they are a guilty race. Even if it is not meant to come across like that, it does sometimes. I've used the same argument about feminism but it applies here too. You don't win over sexist people by telling them they should support a women's movement.

If we are all equal then that's what we need to see. I for one almost lost my job in a supermarket when I was a student because a customer racially abused one or my colleagues and left her in tears. I punched the c**t and I never saw him come back again.

In hindsight that was wrong, but I think the core of society can be educated. I would like to see a bit more unity and maturity and that's the approach I would take if it happened now as I've grown up a bit.

It might be easy for me to say, and I'm not here to try and cause outrage. I just don't think this will do much to stop it.

Violence from police etc won't stop, they'll just be a bit more careful about getting caught.

I used to have sympathy for the “all lives matter” argument but you know what? Maybe we should spend less time complaining that the racism debate isn’t framed in the manner that is most palatable to white people and do more to eradicate racism.

It's the very entitlement, albeit massively diluted, that killed George Floyd.

Saw someone say earlier you wouldn't leg it about saying "All cancer matters" during breast cancer awareness month.

Although I'm sure people do, there's uproar every year on international womens day "WAT ABOUT MENS DAY"

I'd have thought that people replying 'all lives matter' would be happy to be left out of the phrase as it means they're also left out of generations of abuse and mistreatment.

Basically as soon as anyone says "All lives matter" and say it again after it's explained to them why it doesn't work I'm done with them. Sick of explaining it over and over.

I wonder if some people imagine an 'only' prefix whenever they read 'black lives matter'.

I love how it'd take no effort for those men's day goons to find out it's in November, but wading in guns blazing and looking thick as mince instead is the order of the day

I suppose you could argue it's a bit of a clumsy phrase, but even if it was:

"Ok everyone, now we aren't saying your lives don't matter so don't get upset, we are saying that our lives also matter. Ok, nice one. Good lad"

The usual crowd would still complain. Can't win so fuck it.

Antifa dont stand up for themselves. They are bullys . They're just a bunch of cowards who are out to cause trouble in groups. I bet one on one the majority of them would shit themselves and run off. I bet the real protestors over there dont want these middle class white kids jumping on their cause. It just devalues the whole thing for me but I guess you know that all along.

If they don't stand up for themselves why do they need heavy handed treatment from police then?

I agree that a minority of people (mainly white but some black) are out just for the chaos and destruction (it wouldn't surprise me if some of those white perpetrators are actually far right deliberately looking to cause disruption and make the protests look worse) but I think it's vital to have people of all colours taking part in this to show that it is a problem for the whole of society.

I agree. I'm not totally comfortable with the term feminism to represent sexual equality, but the issue itself is more pressing. Let's get that first and cross the bridge of people using the term to create superiority in the other direction when we come to it. I think I'll be long dead by that time though.

Also I would suggest if people are so concerned about representation and approvals in these times they look how the labour council in Coventry is approving certain applications via special powers with “staying safe” as the reason

Depends on your brand of feminism. Some feminism is specifically concerned with women and sees it as men’s job to worry about men. I can respect that, in the same way I can respect black rights activists not also banging on about white rights and brown rights.

The thing I read earlier was saying that there's supposed to be an implicit "too" on the end of it. It's a little clumsy yeah, but it already taken hold now. Anyone actually confused by it and not hiding an agenda can be made to realise the proper meaning pretty easily.

I'm sure there's some idiots out there who'd like them to say "Hold on and stop murdering us for a few days while we rebrand to something that makes closet racists feel less uncomfortable".

Exactly, people do get wound up about those things too!

Like I said, I used to have some sympathy for it and have been caught up in that line of thinking before. I’ve certainly got friends who think like that “but what about x issue”.

At some point as white people, or men, or whatever group one falls into, we need to have some introspection and understand why our first instinct is too feel guilt rather than think about the issue at hand.

Nice to see people who were tooling up like GI Joe because a shop they like was closed in a pandemic two weeks ago are suddenly are in favour of a curfew being adhered to or resistors shot in the street.

At least it’s proven that though. They can’t go on about their sacred 2nd amendment rights anymore when they did fuck all when their first amendment rights were stripped away. They have been saying forever that they need guns to protect against tyrannical government and they’ve done nothing when one has presented itself.

Mad to think the same people going on about 'draining the swamp' 4 years ago will be the most likely to support suspending elections.

Even if elections do go ahead the Democrats have out up the worst possible candidate they could, a history of racist comments and inappropriate conduct towards women with no real plan for how to move this forward. He once suggested to avoid police deaths they should shoot people in the leg instead of the body.

Whatever happens things are not going to get better there for a number of years.

Man the right are good at getting the left to adopt their attack lines. You and BSB are indistinguishable from the alt-right whenever Biden comes up. Bernie lost. Get over it.
