Part of the viability examination when the Ricoh was being built and CCFC named as tenant, expected the Club to make at least one major player sale in a season

With the bricks I would suggest the first thing to do is establish what is involved in removing them without causing damage. Pretty sure they're just faceplates so someone who knows what they're doing should be able to manage it.
Then there's the question of what to do with them. On the basis that at some point we will have a ground is the best option a temporary location and if so where. Ryton would be an obvious option but they wouldn't be accessible to the public.

Which is why a partnership with Warwick Uni (or even Coventry Uni) is a great idea.
Huge institutions, with huge amounts of land, with ambitions to develop.
The situation has changed materially from 2008.
For arguments sake, let’s work on the following assumptions:
1) new stadium plans yet another ruse
2) EU complaint successful
3) resulting in Wasps leaving Coventry
In this scenario, the RICOH reverts back to CCC control. No progress has been made on this ‘partnership’ with UoW. How does Coventry come to own the RICOH?
We would still have to negotiate with CCC, and in this scenario, it’s inconceivable the relationship between CCFC and CCC would be better off. How do we agree a price for the RICOH? The CCC showed no willingness to sell their share to CCFC before all this kicked off.
Regardless of their intentions in 2008. Since the the sale of the RICOH to Wasps, it makes the most sense to give up on the aspiration of owning the RICOH and building our own stadium.

Agree with that. The biggest "fuck you" would be showing Wasps and CCC what they could have had.
Packed out pubs, people getting behind the club and fan unity.
People have said for years that SISU want to divide the fans, the fact CCC had to get a PR company in to do exactly that shows that they don't want the fans to unite against them. Duggins gloating about "public opinion" being on their side, fuck that.
Have said for years, what would scare Wasps and CCC most would be a united (as much as possible) fan base against them and fully behind CCFC (CCFC, not SISU).
The situation has changed since 2008, but also hasn't changed materially since 2014 and Wasps coming in! If SISU saw that as the death knell for any deal with the council, we should be a lot further along with a new stadium - after all, what hope would there be for anything else?
SISU thought they could wear down the council and get control of the Ricoh. They almost managed it, but now it turns out they have to wear down Wasps as well. That's fine, they're up to the fight, even if it takes longer than expected. They'll continue to negotiate and wait for someone to cave. Suggesting that we are making plans for a new stadium is a key part of making sure that process continues. Actually going ahead and building the damn thing is a surefire way of ensuring it doesn't.
I think this has been obvious for some time. Even if the relationship improved renting is never going to be ideal and the pitch is always going to be wrecked by rugby.
You can hope that wasps go bust but that might never happen, they’ll probably be saved by some rich idiot. Even if they did go bust you have the issues with the council in trying to get hold of the Ricoh.
As unlikely as it feels a new stadium seems the only long term solution.

If progress is made, then I agree the Ricoh appears to be Plan B. But I'll believe it when I see it. Joint statements don't cut it.
I'm sure it's just a coincidence that after six years (!) of talks with UoW, we only got news of this latest new stadium project a few days before we learned the latest round of Ricoh negotiations were collapsing.

The relationship between the two parties is completely broken.
Now the announcement is made, there’s no excuses for having no updates. We cannot argue about the future, as it is yet to happen. As it happens, I’ve been vocal of the need for all of us to be sceptical and to hold the club accountable for delivering on this project.

Planning a stadium isn’t exactly an easy task that can be completed overnight.
The RICOH itself took 8 years from planning to construction. That’s with a local council that supported it in this process.
The plans are out there now, and if there’s no progress on this made, then we hold the club to account.
Like you, I will remain sceptical until bricks begin to be laid.

The site for Brighton’s AMEX stadium was found in 1998-99. The stadium was completed in 2011.
I’ve not said it’s acceptable that it’s taken this long. We are where we are and looking at the past doesn’t really do anything for us.
Sarcastic comments are one thing, but at least there’s something out there we can scrutinise.
We’ll know more later when there is progress or lack thereof.

It’s not exactly like we’ve got a supportive local council to help us in the pursuit of building a new stadium though, is it?
With the whole UoW thing, since they’ve had to get planning permission from CCC for infrastructure projects. Isn’t it a possibility that the club and UoW needed to wait until approval for this first?
Make no mistake that all parties are involved in a Machiavellian power struggle. It wouldn’t surprise me if the CCC would block such infrastructure projects.
I don’t know timeframes of all this, so I’m only hypothesising here.

It's largely academic given there aren't vast swathes of land under CCC jurisdiction that could work as a stadium for us. We had to partner with CCC to make the last stadium happen, and we can never do that again as long as the current SISU and council leaders are in charge. So it makes sense we would look to somewhere like Warwick Uni. But let's say there's some magical stadium site that we could make work on our own, and was our only option to keep the club in Coventry - I don't think the council could get away with outright killing the club by obstructing it for years like that (Would it even be legal?) Someone has to cave eventually. It's mostly a red herring though, because it's much more likely (and cheaper!) that someone at the Ricoh will cave first....

Rather than quibble about the validity of the latest stadium ‘project’, let’s use our collective voice to let SISU know that we will need to see what tangible progress they are (or aren’t) making.

I get it, I really do. The past has left wounds that are difficult to forgive but the only way forward is to move on.
And belief or disbelief in the validity of the latest words actually doesn’t matter...at all.
This time we have a voice and communication avenues with ownership. We have to find ways to use them to either make SISU good on their word, or expose them to every single supporter.
We should ALL be behind that.

If SISU don't know that the best way of getting people to believe is to do rather than say, they never will. It doesn't need a polite email for that to be obvious.
