My definition of easy is where you can manage an organisation to its worst performance in 60 years be statistically (I know you love your facts) the worst manager in history and still be under no serious pressure from your employer. Expectancy level is below zero. So tell me what is hard about it?

I think he would be more sensible just saying if they give me no signings as it stands, I will do my best to keep the club up but as you have seen before it will be hard.

Some signings, with a bit of luck and hardly any injuries lets see what can happen. I will keep the club up but who knows what else.

If they give me a signing for each player that has left and maybe one or two on top ie a football squad then I am going for the play offs and above and anything else is a failure.

That would be a wiser thing to say than if SISU dont give me signings I quit. He can still do a good job as a manager with no signings its just the goals are different.

As far as I am aware things like context in investment are subjective. I prefer to deal in facts. However, your defence of him proves my point - an easy job without expectation and pressure. The rolling contract will continue to roll on.

Coleman has a 29% win ratio. Since World War 1 we have I think had 37 managers. Harry Pollitt is an AT fan. He was the first post war manager and our worst with a win ratio of 20.4%. Now AT has eclipsed him with 18.3% but yeah he's great.

I normally wouldn't isolate one statement aimed at one user, but this has been a recurring "argument" from AT supporters throughout the season.

Context has never been ignored. Nobody expected a great season because of corporate belt-tightening. Relegation may well have happened under any manager.

But that context has nothing to do with issues of tactics, character, motivational skills...ultimately whether he was getting the most out of the limited resources he had. That's a question that should be demanded of any manager regardless of whether they have the resources of Accrington Stanley or Barcelona. In AT's case it has been a very fair question to ask for some considerable time.

What I'm keen on knowing is how far you will let this "context" protect AT. Exactly how low would CCFC have to sink before you figure that it might be worth a change of manager to see if they can improve results?

As a club we should be expecting promotion. We are the 2nd biggest club in the division. Not saying it would be all the managers fault but a club our size should be able to achieve promotion even on a budget. I expect top 6.

You also need a few other things from the manager - little things like tactics, motivation, drive and discipline. Things he lacks so whatever the budget failure is inevitable but nice to see the case for the defence is being prepared early.

Sorry Duffy but unfortunately this is not a kangaroo court

Case for prosecution (or is that persecution) according to you, no matter what funding players or support the manager is given he will fail

Evidence presented for this none as despite the managers first 10 games in charge since then the owners have gone hell bent on a cost cutting and insufficient replacement exercise.

Case for the defence (or rational thinking person) Impossible to judge him until he is given the normal tools for the job if he then fails sack him. If he succeeds then he is suitable.

Mitigation presented his first 10 games he took on the same players that had been on a dismal run and got some better results from the same players and some would argue got them playing poor football to more attractive football.

Basically it is impossible to fairly and impartially judge AT unless he does get some signings. You yourself have said on here at some point, we need at least 7 including 3 strikers.

Personally I think it is more, but if that is what you think maybe you should give him a break then judge him if he gets what you think it is needed to compete.

Well where to start. andy Thorn can come out and say he is getting frustrated and he no doubt is by whats going on but he should be smart enough to know that things are not going to change. He has probably been told to identify a few players to bring in and has done this but that is all he can do and i firmly belive that sisu will scrap a few loans together and a free or two but no where what we need or even what Andy Thorn has earmarked.

from a personal point of view why would he walk away? he is managing a club. What is his alternative quit because he was lied to and go back to Scouting or coaching somewhere else. The experince he will gain from managing a club in this situation is huge for him. If he leaves out of some moral code who would give him a chance to manage again? however stay at Coventry and maybe get them up against all odds and his stock is huge.

I dont think he is brillant but look how hard it is for us to get a player? situation we are in? losing money? if he left/was sacked who can we get to come in? Lee Carsley? will he do any better?

For the moment Thorn is in charge and that aint going to change. Owners need to be sorted out first then we can worry about the rest.

I love this club and everyone is hurting. All you can do is have faith.
