We need another centre half and another holding midfielder just as urgently

We've got 4 first team centre halves and two younger ones pushing. If we sign another first team centre half it'll be because one of the first teamers is going out.

He has never been and will never be good enough for a team wanting to be in the championship. He only has one good cameo every 10 games, and that’s at league one level. Don’t know why our fans have a fascination for poor strikers, we’ve persevered with Baka and Biamou for long enough. It’s time to get rid.

Is that my job? All I know is that they are not good enough, I’ll leave the recruitment to the people who are paid and qualified to do so if that’s alright with you. I think it’s a case of a lack of funds to replace them with, rather than Robins thinking they’re good enough.

Bakayoko would attract a fee but we’d have to give Biamou away - he’s turning 30 this year and while he has scored some important goals in our recent history, his overall goalscoring record is uninspiring at best

That is your opinion. Robins opinion evidently differs. He is paid and is eminently qualified to make that judgement.

Football is ruthless
Baka and Max are both good blokes and each can be outstanding players on occasion, think of Max's spectacular goals and Baka occasionally looking unplayable
But in this game you have to do it week in and week out
Unfortunately neither of them has been able to do that so far

If you read some of MR’s comments I think he’s hoping Baka is going to come good rather than expecting it. Like i said, if he had the funds I think he’d replace him. I understand that we can’t outlay silly money on squad players, but if we’re going to keep Baka we have to have Godden and one other capable striker ahead of him. We simply can’t afford to rely on him as 2nd choice in the championship.

I don’t know about you mate, but I have better things to be doing with my life than trawling through the German third division for our next striker. There are options out there that I’m sure they’re aware of, and I’m sure most will be proven right when he’s inevitably let go at the end of his contract. All he is is a cheap placeholder.

Quite. As I suspected, you haven’t got a clue and have nothing to add of any insight or worth, you’re just one of the “booo, fuck him off” gang. As if we didn’t have enough of them already o_O

I can’t argue with that.

However to write the guy off as shite a month before the season starts, when he’s faced with the biggest opportunity of his life, thats bullshit. This is not a League 1 campaign & under the radar, he has a chance at setting himself up for life if he pulls it together next season. The possibilities are endless for him, he has to take the chance now, if he doesn’t I don’t see him getting another shot at it.

Anyway, he will either prove himself or he’ll fail next season and that’s how it should be, based on what he does on the pitch. Not based on the “football genius” opinions of a few blokes on a forum who haven’t really got a clue, which is my whole point really.

... no doubt he’ll now get moved on in the next couple of days 😁

One thing nobody has really touched on in fairness to Baka is his tremendous work rate. You might not always bring him on with 15 to go needing a goal (yes I realise he's a striker), but with a goal lead to defend and 15 to go, hell run defenders all over the place.

Haha I either attend or watch 90% of our games but I have no input of worth? What a joker you are mate. It’s not an offence to think a player that plays for our beloved CCFC isn’t good enough, take your sky blue tinted glasses off. Why should we give him a chance at championship level when he couldn’t do it in league one? Westbrooke was offloaded even though he had twice the contribution to our promotion than Baka did. It’s not like I’m slagging him off during the game, he has my full support whilst on the pitch but that doesn’t change the fact I don’t think he’s good enough. Come back to me at the end of next season and we’ll see who was right(it won’t be you mate)(y)

I think I’ll pass on that, thanks.

You know we could have just let him go at the end of his previous contract right?

Typical, picking and choosing what to address. Seems like you haven’t got anything “to add of any insight or worth” either with that pathetic response. You don’t seem to be capable of having a civilised football debate so I won’t bother again, looks like you’re here solely to cause an argument. Really it’s my fault for stooping to your level, lesson learnt.

civilised football debate 😄 you haven’t debated anything, just said “he’s shit, a placeholder, no idea who to get in or how but just get rid of him, he’s out of his depth”- all this after he’s been retained by the manager who just masterminded a championship. Hardly incisive & meaningful debate is it.

Like I’ve said before, I think it’s more in hope than expectation. There’s no doubting he has the physical attributes, but for me he’s too nice and doesn’t have the footballing brain of someone like Godden. It’s a question of how long do we wait for him to start delivering consistently, like others have said this is the age where he should start coming to the fore. If he’s given a chance in the championship I fear he could cost us vital points, we can’t afford to have a striker that needs 4-5 chances to score at this level.

Don’t have an issue with Baka remaining with us. Think Max will be moved on given he hasn’t been around for the last 2 games. Some strikers he could go for that are free and fit our model Devante Cole, Nouha Dicko, Dominic Samuel, Joe Mason (has scored quite a few championship goals). If you want to take a chance Moussa Sylla just released by Monaco only 20 has played in Ligue 1 and Champions league albeit in both mainly as a sub. My neighbour who is French believes he has the ability to play for France and can’t believe Monaco have just let him go.

Just because he’s been offered a contract does not mean he’s automatically good enough for the championship, it’s probably a case of he’s a cheap squad player. You’ve said previously that he should be given the chance to fail, so you’re willing to give him a chance in the championship when he hasn’t done it in league one? That’s a lot of blind faith right there. Don’t you think that could cost us vital points come the end of the season, especially with the fact he needs at least 3-4 golden opportunities to score? I’m not willing to take that risk unfortunately, especially based on previous form.

Reality is Baka is a cheap option to have in the squad and will never be a first team regular. There are a hell of a lot games to get through and cup games that will need players to be rotated and rested. Max is on his way out with some others that will free up some wages and we will be able to get another striker or two in. We can’t just rely on Godden.

Kinell...having an opinion is one thing but there’s some self appointed football ‘experts’ on here. Keep talking though yeah?...

...cuz I’m sure Robins relies on footballing facts from bramble pickers, dog food tasters, pornography historians and freelance sperm donors

Baka has clear attributes to be an excellent footballer but I’m not sure he knows how to use them. He’s the perfect Robins players and he will expect his work to bear fruition. If we want to avoid relegation we need to find a way of making more chances and scoring more goals. We haven’t looked like scoring in the rangers or Swindon game but that’s ok they are fitness exercises

That's true about them being training games but Robins will be concerned at the lack of chances created
The offside goal by Matty Godden against Rangers was the best move and his run for the penalty was decent
Baka is playing too deep to be a goal threat at the moment

Don't get it. The constant need by some (but far from all) to write our own players off.

I more than trust in Robins's ability to evolve the squad and until that time I'm excited to see what our players (after a fantastic promotion season) can do in the Championship when they are given the chance.
