see

That’s very true, but when someone posts a horrible and negative comment about a player from a club he apparently supports, what do you expect?

Backlash and a load of grief about how they find Davids opinion wrong and debate with him and maybe change his mind?

Saddlebrains posted the other day and said Josh Pask had glass legs and what not...?

Not really? But you were telling everyone you know me on here

If I wanted attention mate I would of posted something outlandish to make national papers however I posted a tweet saying I think a player is finished and didn’t even tag him in it. I would ask you to go through my twitter before that JJ tweet was posted and it’s just honest, educated opinions on football, boxing. etc etc

This is also bollocks. Only ever seen your name come up on twitter once before when you were having a barney with a girl I follow and you turned pretty vile and personal in that very quickly. Attention is definitely something you crave.

Forgot to mention, he's one of a few who put themselves out there - full name, vocal about where he lives and his photo is clear to see. How many of you caling him a c**t are as open?
The main person on Twitter yesterday laying.it on thick was an account called Watty Wodden with a pic of Matty Godden. Seemed quite vocal, would he be as such if his real name and face was on his profile? Highly fucking doubtful.

Again, he is outspoken and says whatever he wants. I'm not defending what he said I'm saying anyone calling him a c**t behind a faceless account, abusing him personally and making up stories about him to add some sort of validity to their point is no better.

Newspaper involved and all and sundry piling on the lad because he tweeted an opinion. Poorly worded, yeah I'd say so but people justifying the personal attacks and jumping on him, calling him a c**t and being aggressive are bang out of order.

And as other posters have said, far worse here and by our own fans on Twitter on a regular but they didn't have a bandwagon to jump on.

Grown men running to join a pile on on an internet message board and stoke the fire giving it the big one? Take a look in the mirror.

"Be Kind" unless there's a bandwagon to jump on eh?

Oh give over. Vast majority of replies are perfectly civil. It’s social media, not all interactions will be positive.

And the victim here is JJ, not your mate.

Points been made. The lad messed up and as I said to him, I thought it was attention seeking. It’s over now though. Everyone should just move on.

Exactly. Popular player so it's a pile on.

Schoolyard mentality.

The notion that all fans are like Christian churchgoers is nonsense.

I’ve had on here for years with Bigiaramana - some opinions of him were absurd and I did say a career at Rugby town beckons. He made it to Solihull to be fair. My problem with him was he was never honest either. He was always chasing the pound and using the club and his “love” for it to try and re build a failing career.

It’s not well phrased but it’s a viewpoint. Also let’s be honest if he has a great season his repayment to the club will be to leave out of contract if a better deal come along. No problem with that but that is reality

But some, not all, can't see the absolute hypocrisy calling him a c**t and attacking him personally...madness.

This not to mention this Tom character who literally made up he went to school with him and knows him to further his point? Pathetic

Yes some have been rude and it’s hypocrisy but isn’t it also a dose of his own medicine? He, or you, can’t really complain about that unless he is willing to change is own behaviour, you know?

I'm clearly not talking about the civil replies. I'm talking about people making up stories and being openly aggressive behind made up names.

The guy clearly didn’t read the tweet explaining I knew (aware of his existence) him through a mutual friend. Didn’t mean to rattle him. Note to self, learn not to disagree.

I know you are I’m just saying that’s a minority. Some people got frustrated with it and probably a bit over emotional. Probably best for everyone to draw a line under it and move on, including the OP and his mates.

Maybe the convo can move forward to being about how to talk about players on social media and how it affects them? Big mental health issue and your man has just had a tiny, tiny dose of what it feels like.

Can you explain how Jodi is a victim? I tweeted (granted poorly worded) that I think he’s finished. Let’s be honest mate, he’s not had a pre-season since 2017, it’s his first one back now and he’s injured again. He played his best football over a 3/4 month period in the fourth division. We’re now in the championship and he’s not good enough simple as that.

He needs to go out on loan, get some actual first team football (not I23s), get match fit, score a few goals, stay fit and see how he goes from there. I’ve already stated I hope he proves me wrong because at the end of the day all we all want is to be successful and he can be part of that, fantastic.

In terms of being a victim, he’s picked up let’s say 2/3/4/5k a week for three years for doing nothing? I wish I was a victim of that’s the case.

I’ll name 5 players who have had it a lot worse on here and twitter:

Burge
Baka
Chaplin
Turnbull
Bigi

Where’s the uproar?

Aye yeah. No issue at all (and neither does he) with people having a go at him just the minority who take it personal and aggressive.

Lets face it...if he just posted and said "Jones is finished - I think he'll be non league in a few years" It would have been fine and based on the last three years isn't totally unrealisitic.

Hasn’t this been blown out of proportion? I’ve been slagging Jos Buttler off for weeks. It’s an opinion - whether right or wrong we’ll soon find out
I asked lastnight, if I share my opinion on Jimmy Anderson, would it end up on here or in the Telerag?! Ended up with an argument without even sharing the opinion

Again if it was Kyle, Julien Darby or some other universally mocked figure no one would care. The telegraph I’m sure ran a poll the day Kyle signed and 90% said he was not wanted before he kicked a ball.

People on social media are just targets. Russell Watson who seems very harmless said he gets it often. Once a rather innocuous woman he’d never met said she wished he’d died of a brain tumour and saved us from him. He was perplexed but just blocked

No he hasn’t had a pre-season and you make some valid points. If you’d made those originally instead of using the terms like “rotting away” you would have had a more positive conversation from the start. Nobody is criticising you for your opinion, it’s perfectly valid, only your wording.

JJ is a victim in that he didn’t ask for any of this. His injuries are bad luck. In terms of the situation regarding your tweet he is the victim because he has probably picked up his phone and seen a Cov fan claiming he won’t make it back to where he wants to be. Fortunately, he seems to be using it as motivation. But he has had a really rough few years and his mental health would have been under a lot of strain.

He hasn’t been picking up a wage for doing nothing though, has he? He’s picked up a wage for being employed as a professional footballer and undergoing intensive rehab. He was on a contract and essentially “off sick”. Most of us would expect to be paid in that situation.

Your point about other players is entirely separate but my suggestion would be you’ve been either lucky or unlucky, depending on how you view it, in that the twitter algorithms picked up on your tweet and started promoting it to people interested in CCFC, that’s how I saw it, so you have received more attention and responses. Regarding uproar though, there has been plenty on here at least. I was defending Baka just the other day. Somebody slagging him off on twitter might get seen by a few fans one day and end up in a situation like yourself.

Hes not exactly been picking up statutory sick pay though has he? Not like he's had to make cut backs at home with his spending because he's only getting £95 a week dropping in to his bank. And who's been paying that wage? Us, the people who have bought shirts, tickets etc. So as wage payers, like my boss pays my wages can tell me im not pulling my weight and need to buck my ideas, then surely were all entitled to an oponion?
Yes, it could have been worded better, but he hasn't directly @ or tagged JJ. If a footballer or actor or singer uses social media, then surely they have to expect that occasionally they'll read something they don't like/don't wamt to really see?!
