When the idea of a new deal was put to the defender, he told how there wasn’t a doubt in his mind that he wasn’t going to sign on the dotted line.
“I’m very happy.” Dabo said.
“It feels like it’s been a long time coming because we’ve been speaking about it for a while, but there was no doubt about it ever happening.
“I didn’t have to think twice as soon as I got wind of the new deal potentially being on the table.
“I didn’t go to my agent ‘oh I want to leave’ and my agent didn’t even whisper there was something else it was literally let’s get the deal done and let’s be happy here.”
The togetherness within the Sky Blues camp at the moment is spoken about by all the players in the squad and Dabo echoes those comments.
“It’s not an exaggeration, it’s actually a proper family.
“People tell you off when needed and people will look after you when you need to be looked after and the dressing rooms always happy.
“When we lose it’s very rare that we’re down for long because we come in and speak about it and then get over it and then we’re happy and go again to make sure we can improve on our performance.”
Although he has only been at the club for a year, the defender has settled into the surroundings and his performances on the pitch show that.
Dabo spoke of the support he gets here by the staff and the supporters and why that was one of the key reasons for him signing a new deal.
“Some people say I bleed Sky Blue already!”
“It feels like we’re carrying on again with all the support from the fans, all of the support from the team and all of the support from the staff and like I’ve said before, we’re a proper big family so without that I wouldn’t be happy here.”
Despite the season ending in success for the Sky Blues, Fanky had to sit on the sidelines for the start of pre-season, as he recovered from a hip operation he had during the summer.
But now he’s back and after a first starts last week against QPR, the defender is buzzing to be back out on the pitch doing what he does best.
“I’m tired all the time.” He joked.
“But seriously, I’m just trying catch up with all the boys and get back to match fitness, but it’s a new obstacle and challenge and I’m enjoy it and I’m just happy to be back on the pitch.”
