If you step back and look at the subs from a neutral perspective, you can see exactly what Robins was trying to do. We were setup up in a defensive formation initially, hoping for a chance on the break. Late in the game he changed it to an attacking formation to try and win it. Unfortunately Dabo and Walker were off pace and it backfired. Loads of posters were wishing for O'Hare to go back to being an impact sub, but apparently it didn't work. If Dabo and Walker were fit and match sharp it may have worked. Because of injuries and players not up to speed we haven't got the depth across the squad yet. That was what Robins was alluding to in his assessment of the last game.

Nobody is expecting us to win the league playing it around like we do but its the basics going wrong. Defenders losing men by walking into the midfield for no reason, midfielders misplacing 3 yard passes under 0 pressure, strikers not setting foot in the opposition box for 90 minutes, management not playing to our strengths. If we don't improve our performances then we're fucked because the opposition isn't getting any easier all season.
Literally this

Not recruiting championship experience always worried me I know budgets come into it etc tho
It does more than come into it. We're not talking about teams spending a few quid more than us, teams are spending tens of millions more than us.
I saw the other week that a couple of seasons ago the only team to not make a loss was Rotherham and they went down. This league is a joke financially.
Last seasons figures not available yet but the season before I think the average was something like 107% of revenue spent on wages. We tried that the last time we were in the Championship and nearly went out of business.

It’s not for lack of effort, he just doesn’t have the ability.

If Shippers had Hamer's aggression he'd be a very good Championship player. He has technique and vision, but he needs to attack the ball and show a desire to win 40/60 balls, which he really struggles to do - and his challenges often result in a cheap free kick to the opposition. Like the guy, but he needs to improve that side of his game, Also needs to bust a gut to get goal side after a move has broken down.

He could really use at least trying his right foot

Just got in only got to watch in car on way home.

We are so toothless upfront its ridiculous. We went from having so much possession and shots last year to none this season. We cant even make simple passes.

For some reason we still keep fanning around with passing out from Marko yet the teams are reading this each week to putting on pressure straight away.

We have not adapted to the championship well. Robins needs to try something different as we cant keep doing the same over and over.

No he wouldn’t, Shipley is a bottom half of league one player. Would fit right in at a team like Rochdale.

Exactly.
Herein lies the problem, so many underestimated the huge step up to the Championship.

Most sane fans would accept staying up on goal difference given the gulf in quality & resources. Yes, things need to improve but we still have a chance to do that. Some perspective is needed.

Of course there's a chance, and we all know it's going to be a struggle. I think the concern is we look like a soft touch and we look a million miles off the pace at times. The last thing we need is to be cut adrift at the bottom so early in the season. There was a point there for us tonight, there were two dropped against Swansea, we can't keep rolling over and having our belly tickled.

I think the way we won the league last year has hindered us. We've tried to carry on playing the same formation and we're just not good enough to do that, so have to adjust quickly and change it. In many ways Rotherham are better equipped than we are in this division.

This is so much like the 11/12 season but with a bigger gap in budgets and a less idiotic manager. Just a young squad going out to take a shithousing every week

If you think about it. the Championship now is a lot stronger than it used to be, as the PL has filled up with foreign players and a lot of old PL standard players have filtered down into the Championship. Fans need to stay patient (fat chance!) and 4th from bottom will do just fine (although if we win our next 10, I want the play offs!!)

I wanted 4th from bottom all along, but we are getting worse every week and making it so easy for the opposition. It'll be a cricket score on Friday

What do you want him to do? He’s got a squad of L1 kids.
L1 kids? How many of the starting 11 tonight would you class as 'kids'??
I don't wish to see him go at all. I just wish to see us be more flexible and set up in different ways depending on who we play. Loosing is one thing, but if we just do the same thing and still expect a different outcome every week it would a concern.

Proper downbeat after that. Just can't find any positives and see how we can stay up. The teams lacking in so many ways.

There’s more chance of robins walking than getting the sack. Joy has basically given him free reign to do what he wants at the club

Robins saying we don’t deserve anything. We just don’t have a go at the opposition. We are not there yet . Still not at the level playing catch up. We hate losing games. We had a couple of shots and have to do better. Players coming back from injury and have to play them straight away. We need to start picking up points. We need to get to a higher level. Lads will be ok, we have to believe that. Players are fearful in their play. We need to be confident. Strange surroundings but have to adjust. Will take time to get more out of the players. Tough league. Tried to win the game with the subs. Walker should have been up front not in midfield and taking them on. We get the ball and give it back to them. Had a bit of control then made changes and ball has to go in right area. When they score clinical. Have to be calm and the score again but we were kamikaze and they score again. Marko comes out and nowhere near it. Wasn’t to be. Disappointed and have to stay positive and get on with it. Can’t go under and hiding. Need to face this and see too much fear. Playing Reading top of the league. Challenge for us. We are not us at the moment. Games are thick and fast.

Walker attempting to dribble past players in central midfield cost us that goal

He's right and he sounds like he's out of ideas-don't blame him
