Lee Camp (34 Viewers)

That was Burge though he was below useless. We have greater problems so would seem odd unless Marosi has some sort of problem and is playing through it

He has looked different this season, not sure whether it's because we are being pressed more but doesn't look right.

That’s what I’m saying I think a CB would be a better investment. You bring in Camp, drop Marosi and the goals keep pouring in then what next? You’ve just pissed off your previous No. 1 for a veteran who will be gone in the summer.

I just rang my blues pal and he was in shock saying he’s awful and makes loads of mistakes
Well your blues mate must not go to any games. I live in Solihull with a group full of Blues fans and they said he is still championship level.

For those wondering how old he is - the last time I saw him play was the last game at Highfield Road.

Our goalkeeper that day is still playing

Why were Blues so happy to release him then? Doesn't feel comfortable being in agreement with cc84cov but the Blues fans I know don't rate him either. He did well in the pens against us last season but in the lead up to those matches the Blues fans saw him as very poor & were happy to be rid of him at the end of last season. Likewise Sunderland fans view Camp the way our fans view Burge. Signing Camp seems a bit desperate to me, and if we do sign him I hope it is only until January when we can then re-assess and go for different options if necessary.

Kieran Westwood would be a much better option than Camp, the only downside is that we would have to wait until Jan to sign him on loan.

We are under so much more pressure this year.
We faced the 2nd least amount of shots in the division last year and had the ball most of the time in most games.

He's not costing obvious goals so a lot of people can't see the issue....but little things aren't helping.
Positioning and dealing with balls into the box.
A few questioned his position for the lead up to the forest pen. Was screen-shotted on here. Some saw no problem.
If he was a step further out, more pressure on the forward to get the shot off earlier - no need for McF to foul.

Some questioned his position for the first goal yesterday. Think too tight to his post was mentioned for a ball accross the 6 yard box.

Some also questioned the 2nd - header through him.

Even Robins publicly called him out for his decision making for the 2nd Middlesbrough goal.

I have been critical - but not just me.

I was told a week or so ago that a new goalkeeper was being sought. Just that- nothing regarding first or back up keeper.

Having said all of that, Lee Camp is not the answer in ANY way. Yes, he played very well in both games against us last year.... but ask any Blues or Sunderland fan what they think of him... you won't get positive responses.

Would be better to get in a CB IMO. Or a targetman striker.

Can't see a new keeper adding much defensively. Not like we're conceding due to crosses - most are from basic errors. Ones from corners are because the zonal marking is shit and not working. Change that to man-to-man and we'd improve. But hey, zonal's in vogue and you can't be seen to be behind the times even if it's clearly causing us to leak goals.

Wouldn’t be best pleased if this was a serious punt at staying up. With any hope this is total bollocks.

Camp was released by Nottm Forest and Birmingham, both Championship sides who some argue are our relegation rivals. Not a good recommendation.

And Westwood was not as perfect as some on here remember. And he didn't make the progress that some on here predicted. And now he's available from another Championship side.....

Zonal marking has to go surely it can’t carry on we look shaky from set pieces,Marosi passing has been poor he’s reluctant to leave his line & seeks to be fumbling at things, will an experienced head help them defenders maybe ?

The goals in the main are down to individual mistakes and not communication

Marosi handling was dodgy last season , think people thought he was better than he was because he had less to do than any other city keeper over a season possible in history.

Marosi has done alright. His long kicking is as bad as Burge.

Sunderland will be laughing their socks off with this one. He's our Lee Burge for them!

Camp had a reasonable season by his own, very low standards last season but is a very, very poor keeper. I wouldn't even want him at League One level.
The fact is Birmingham, an average Championship side at best, binned him off & preferred to start the season with no senior goalkeeper until they brought Etheridge in.
