I stopped reading all the crap on VAR but in my head it's really simple - only over rule or intervene the referee on the pitch if there's been a really clear or obvious error.
They have a 30/45 second limit to revisit/replay or whatever they want and they make the call. If they can't make it in that time then it wasn't clear and obvious was it.
All this fucking about with dots and lines and was his arsehole offside is stupid - if you have to get that shit out then again, its not clear and obvious.
With offsides - the referee calls it as he calls it giving attackers the benefit of the doubt - if they are clearly more than x distance offside then it is overruled.
I dunno if the above would work but feel like they can just be pragmatic about stuff can't they rather than just suck the life out of the game.
