It has been clear for a while that the voter fraud thing has very little legs. All you were seeing was basically the equivalent of breitbart posting random clips which were hard to decipher.

This incident is pretty crazy, but I'm not surprised. There needs to be a peaceful transfer of power and the thing getting in the way of that is Trumps ego. He won't accept he lost.

As for the violence. Well it is disgraceful. I just find it staggering that so many people can deny what antifa and blm were doing but then act as if this is a random thing. There has been violence and division for ages and there is no point in wearing the blinkers. You cannot be outraged at one and not the other.

I think the coming weeks will be interesting for sure.
It’s the different treatment from the authorities that is the point. 4 protestors are dead so I suppose something quite crazy was happening inside

Can't believe I missed it all kicking off.

Sounds like something from a video game.

It was Fucking lame TBH. Bunch of keyboard warriors managed to break in then didn’t know what they wanted or what to do when they got there so just mulled about taking selfie’s.

Two of my favourite parts were this photo which was circulated with credit to Getty Images which resulted in a number of people believing this man was called Via Getty and tagging the FBI

Because of this guy, Jamiroquai was trending on Twitter. Love the thought of Jay Kay's phone pinging non-stop and then he finds out why

That saying 'with great power comes great responsibility' comes to mind. The problem is when that power is abused, you'd think that the checks and balances would kick in and stop it. I suspect there will be a lot of navel gazing after this, but everybody will blame someone else for inaction.

I can argue it never would have happened if the BLM and Antifa stuff had not been so violent. The precedent set by that has normalised violence probably, but the truth is we will never know.
A peaceful BLM protest outside the capital buildings was tear gassed to clear the way for a Trump photo op. Journalists and protesters were shot with rubber bullets. Police cars were driven at protesters.

Yesterday police opened the gates and took selfies with people attacking the capital building while elected representatives were told to put on gas masks and shelter in place. Can you really not see the difference?

What a surreal bunch of events we witnessed last night.

A group basicly just walking in to one of the most secure and import building in America with little to no issue. One with horns on his head....

police clearly overwhelmed with little back up for hours

Lucky that gun laws in Washington are stricter than most. otherwise could have been AR15 waving and only would take one small spark for total carnage.

I fear this might only be the start of things with how divided America is right now.

Suspect there will be a few terrorist groups who watched that with interest. If they cope like that when its an event they knew well in advance was happening and could plan for it makes you wonder what would happen if they get taken by surprise.

They interviewed someone (ex chief of Washington DC police) on CNN last night who said basically there is a complete breakdown in administration of federal Govt as Trump has locked himself away and nobody knows what to do. Ridiculous as it seems (because of special status of the Capitol) various law enforcement bodies - particularly Federal- have to be invited into Capitol Hill if they are needed. No invites were issued. Also that after the BLM and other state protests no-one wants to take responsibility for policing events as politically it's a no-win situation.

I saw one post that claimed Antifa had infiltrated the riot and they would identify each other with MAGA hats worn backwards. They then show a video of rioters breaking in to the building with the hats on the right way round.

I could counter that by saying the BLM protests were infiltrated by right wingers who disguised themselves by cutting off their mullets and not dressing incredibly badly but the grunting would still have given them away.

It's almost worse as it gives his supporters another grievance
Any actions taken against Trump over the next few years (and there is a sizeable backlog of cases to address) will be claimed to be politically motivated by his supporters.
And whilst the Senate sorted out the objections last night in a fairly universal manner the House Republicans still backed Trump in sizeable numbers.

Scary, isn't it.

Equally scary how many people still seem to want to believe obvious bullshit. I don't even mean the usual wild lies, I mean the off the scale bullshit.

That and how they are playing to the huge numbers of Republican voters who believe there was a fraud of some description. Becomes self-perpetuating as these doubters now validate their viewpoint by saying the President and large numbers of Congress agree with them.

Curious: do you honestly think black protestors would’ve been allowed to do this and walk away?

Well the woman killed was white wasn't she? I don't think race has anything to do with it. If the black protesters were trump supporters the outcome would be the same.

Don’t be ridiculous.

The woman was shot trying to storm a government building while representatives were inside. Of course she was shot.

Are you seriously telling me BLM protestors trying to get at sitting representatives would’ve been left to crack on with it and then left to go home?

I think you’ve burned any remaining credibility if so.
