Sorry if this is already on here.

23-year-old has been struggling with a quad injury and has not yet been offered a new deal at Ashton Gate, where he hopes to play before the end of the campaign.

As such, the dynamic box to box midfielder is allowed to engage with other clubs with less than six months left on his current deal.

Ex-Sky Blues loan star Liam Walsh could be free agent in summer

I think that story came from this forum - a Brizzle fan mentioned it in another thread.

It's not much of a story tbh - he's allowed to negotiate with overseas clubs right now, but not us. Nothing has changed there. Their manager isn't exactly definitive on whether he'll get offered a new contract, but it sounds like Walsh wants to stay in Bristol.

Never made up the story. Like I said I saw it on the Bristol forum.

You want to cash in on Hamer and replace him with a player whos never played at this level and will have been injured for 14 months. Hardly unbelievable business.

Like East Ender said, you have to make an account to see their transfer forum you clown. You didnt answer my question, how is selling our star player, and replacing him with a player whos never played at this level and has been injured for 14 months, unbelievable business?

More interesting than the Walsh rumour is Bristol City's accounts

Their wage bill is £33.5m - that is at a best guess estimate 4 times our current wage bill. They've managed to sell some players for big money in recent years but have otherwise accrued huge losses Income minus Costs is basically results before profit on player sales.:

This love in some have with Walsh is ridiculous. He played well for us after a meiocre start and proved to be a key player for us in a lower league!
Shipley was also pretty good in that lower league and struggles now. Bristol don't even play him when fit. Does that not say something?
Not getting at the player but he may well not be anywhere near effective in the championship. Hamer is on a different level and we need to keep him at all cost at the moment. Let sleeping dogs lie for goodness sake.

I still don't understand the love in to be honest. He had some good games no doubt, but one or two screamers have people forgetting him being absent for the first half an hour of every game and various other unflattering features.

He certainly got better and better as the season went on, but I think the fascination is a bit over the top.

Loads. John Hartson and Craig Bellamy are two high profile players for City who did so for starters.

I thought he was great, but he's unproven at this level and it's a big step up. I think a lot of people underestimate how much.
It's not like moving from L2 to L1.

I agree with this. Walsh was really good last season and arguably our best player. I would have loved us to have kept him. However, it is not a given that he would perform at Championship level. McNulty was good in League 2 but I am far from convinced he would have been much use to us in League 1 even. I know many will disagree on this, but he just looked a good League 2 player to me.

Walsh hasn't played since March 2020 so that raises further doubts about whether he would be a good signing at this level. To suggest that it would be unbelievable to replace Hamer with Walsh is ridiculous.

Liam Walsh a big wanna be signing before season started but looks like we had an escape he might well have joined a lengthy queue for the treatment table.

I loved Walsh, and really wanted him to sign in the summer, but with missing the season injured and not playing a game and us being in a higher division, surely its time to move on?

Keep seeing re: signings for next season, Walsh is continually mentioned.
