Robins can pick whatever starting XI he likes but it is more about the positions we actually take up on the pitch that will influence the game. If we're defending the edge of our own box and the wing backs are deep then the 4 in midfield are going to have to cover a lot of ground to stop Biamou being isolated. If we can play a higher line than the last 60 minutes in the week though, then the 4 in midfield will be able to play more football. But will the pitch even allow that? Does look like a keep it tight and use the subs to try nick a goal in the last 20 minutes selection.

id love all the 2 up front merchants to be given a lecture by Pep for an hour about why it isn't more attacking

It's proper 1980s mindset
Birmingham is a perfect example.

I havent said we are today but will see how we line up, can usually tell.
Again, you can't tell... The lineup just doesn't please you... It's less attacking and more focused on remaining solid...

We will go out and try to win the match.. Something we don't do alot even with 2 up

Thats why I said it's hard to tell by the lineup (I havent said anything).

It will be more obvious when we see how we line up.

The formation could work if applied correctly. I worry about Biamou as a lone striker though, he’s not up to the required standard. I also worry about us defensively despite having more protection in front of them

We try and win every football match nick... How we set up doesn't alter that fact mate

We might settle late on for points but we don't go out to play for a draw

We hope to win every match. That’s not the same thing. Obviously when “setting up for a draw” you hope you Nick a goal. But the main thing is not to lose that’s the point.

It won't be obvious nick, we haven't set up for a draw mate... Not sure what's not getting through

I’m not sure Walker has been fully fit for any game this season. Whether injury or the COVID lay off he has tired quickly in games.

Don't disagree.

tbh it's not the formation that worries me, it's the scary lack of attacking punch.

Still, now's the time for O'hare to add that end product, I guess!

Trying to remain solid isn't playing for a draw, playing for a draw is playing for a draw

We are a team that doesn't score many, but concede a few

If we go 1 down its hard for us to win matches, we've more chance trying to be solid and get a goal

Anything but that awful midfield shape. Walker, Baka, Bapaga, anyone but we’re going to end up 8-1-1 under this formation it happens every time. Wingbacks become full backs all three natural DMs draw back to the edge of the box, O’Hare comes back too to find the ball and Max wanders about chasing big pumps up field.

Meanwhile the fucking chuckle brothers tribute act at the back gifts at least one goal away anyway despite the entire team playing in a 30 yard space from our own goal.

Not sure if I’ve mentioned but I’m not a fan.
We’ll be ok today if you’re up for a chain smoking session.
The bench is really going for it with three up front

I can only think we're going for the high press, hope it works. Already looking forward to the Biamou posts

Yeah, it will be more obvious during the game what the plan is.

I havent said we are setting up for a draw, I am saying that it's hard to tell before the game but it will be more obvious when it starts.

We need our forward players to hit a bit of Form today really, just take your chances

So much this! Drives me nuts.

I remember having that conversation a lot last season. Of course we went on to win the league playing one up front.

We were good enough to pass through teams and play in their half last season and we had multiple AMs up to the standard

Yep which worked fine for last season

I was all for 1 up top last season but think we're better with 2 this time around.

It isn't a binary, sometimes you need to adjust what is better based on circumstances.

I've never understood how 2 up automatically makes you more likely to win, or even attack tbh..

Your just as likely to spend longer off the ball with less players in midfield

2 up has been very Indifferent for us, seems a totally circumstantial formation for us
