While it NW isn't going to go tory either I'd be more worried about there.

The richer people are still far less than the "locals" and are not as right wing as you'd think.

Sultana is doing a good job of being seen to be fighting for Cov south interests which is more than some people thought.

Funny you say that, just saw a model on Twitter that predicts how strong each seat is and NW was indeed the weakest Labour seat in Cov.

2019 was a weak spot - desperately unpopular leader, two established MPs going and non-locals being parachuted in. Fletcher held onto her seat comfortably so, with the new MPs having had time to show what they can do (and they both seem to work quite hard) you'd think they'll establish themselves more.

2019 was a case of as you say a deeply unpopular leader, brexit (remember cov voted solidly leave, while the party had an awful remain position) and a badly fought ground game.

We will see Starmer be a lot more popular when we can doorstep again, sultana admits she wasn't great on the campaign (Cunningham used to seemingly knock on most doors himself) and a load of other things like being seen to actually like the country you want to lead.

Hartlepool will be interesting, if Tice doesn't run in some form (Brexit/reform/whatever party) be interesting to see if the medias weird idea that all BP votes will vote tory if the BP aren't running idea is correct.

Also at the GE it's likely at the moment the Johnson is not the candidate. Sunak is the only other popular at the moment tory and they are briefing against him as well.

From who? Richard Burgon? 🤣

We get measures of Labour’s popularity every week or so from the polls. Currently it’s enough to deny a majority in a GE but not get one. Which is about the best you can expect after 2019.
I don’t think there should be a challenge, but if there was one, I don’t think it would come from the left of the party.

Coventry South isn't going Tory in the next GE - From speaking to the locals we are getting support back from 2019 and Sultana despite what the press may say about her is actually quite popular.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Sultana, seems to work hard and actually get involved in the local area. Think the Conservatives are going to need someone much better than Mattie Haven at the next election if they want to take the seat. She appeared at my door during the campaign and was absolutely clueless. Think she's found her ideal role as a local councillor who blames everything on the Labour council.

Oddly my Mum, lifelong Tory voter, think Sultana is the best MP she'e ever had!

Hopefully there will be no sour grapes.

I wonder how much of the BP vote will ‘return’ to Labour now it’s done with?

Could be more than the commentators think. Hartlepool could be down to ground game and gotv on the day. Labour still has a far better ground game than the tories.

Be interesting.

Literally no one else is threatening a challenge. A challenge won’t happen. The soft left are too soft, the right realise they’ve got nothing, and the left need more than the SCG stanning Burgon.

Labour as a rule dont sack shit leaders, that’s how Corbyn got 5 years despite his record. They definitely don’t sack leaders doing what was expected of them. The only people even talking about it are online left wing groups who think “Keith” is the height of wit. It’s not happening.

Is this why the express and mail are cranking up the anti immigrant rhetoric? (again). With these elections on the horizon it will give the Tories a boost for some reason.

Shouldn’t even be a contest but the clown will probably tell a few jokes and it’ll go Tory by 5000+

Both my kids are home now and at the rates their school is currently sending kids home it will be closed by the end week.

The last bit is anecdotal not factual but I really wouldn’t be surprised.

I am now having to teach classes that are half in the room and half at home. It’s almost like I foresaw this exact scenario

He's standing in an election that could see Khan win in the first round of a system that is designed to stop people winning in the first round.
On his Twitter feed where he announced he’s running someone replied something along the lines of you’ll split the Tory vote and hand Khan victory. I’m assuming that it was tongue in cheek.

All at once. Plus if it's a practical we are expected to live stream it-all while everyone's wearing a mask hovering over a Bunsen Burner
