KD, yes i saw you'd written that. Thought he would go to Cardiff. It has to be said all the players who have left us in recent seasons have gone to pretty poor teamsor ended up at them. Grass isn't always greener.

Nice avatar, BTW. Why isthe jester holding cucumbers?

Can't say I'm too fussed now, got the 2 Frenchmen in on free's and if we get a decent amount for Keogh it's good business. Still got the cash from this transfer and Bigi which you never know, some might got on a transfer fee for a striker, 200-400k ish for Beavon ?

Derby? Seriously? They could be where we are in 12 months.

Which shows there was no point on holding on to him. He clearly wanted out.

Derby are in big financial trouble, although they did just receive a decent fee for Shackell

Not at all!! I work with a Derby fan, decent home support. He wants to play in the Championship, cant fault him for that. His other choices? Bristol released him, so doubt he wants to go back and Cardiff? Well, its Cardiff innit!! lol

Why is going to derby embarrassing? Bigger crowds than us, been in the premier league more recently than us (I know they were rubbish) , can offer more money than us and they are in a higher league than us.

The thread title confused me "keogh bid accepted" then the link just says derby interested

It says...

"And the Sky Blues have given the club permission to speak to the 25-year-old, who is also wanted by Cardiff City and Leeds United."

probably going now we have signed the edge too, 800k in the bank would be nice if it brings in jennings and a striker

ill wish him well and thank him for his hard work, but i sure will miss him.

My mate is a derby fan and he asked me about Keogh a while back. Seems like they've been interested for a while, so this is no surprise. I can't help thinking that he could do better than them though, he certainly has the ability.

Surely all the wording associated with this screams 'bid accepted by', not 'player wants to go to'?

The bid, if true, has been accepted by the club gong rise to player talking to the club should he so desire. That's very different to the assumption he's taken the lead

I'm getting fed up with all the Keogh transfer stuff now. Just get rid of him so we can focus on a new CB pairing.
As far am I'm concerned he was a very good Championship player, but not the Messiah like some people seem to have him down as. He was part of a defence where, although they didn't concede as many per game as some, they would cost us at least 1 goal per game (on average) through some form of sloppiness by all of the defense, him included.

If this transfer does go through could we try a cheeky swop + cash deal involving Steve Davies. 1 year left on his contract at Derby but wants to leave for family reasons (states not financial). He scored 12 goals last season in 21 starts and 6 sub appearances. He is 6ft 1 in height and only 24 so could he do this 'lead the line role' (or big man as some like to call it) taking the pressure off the likes of Cody & Elliott?

Agreed, Keogh has been hyped up to much imo, he is a good defender don;t get me wrong but i really do feel that the two new french lads can be much much better than him, taller, stronger in the air, i believe the two french lads can be the best defensive pairing in the league by a long shot and if we get promotion back to the championship they will again be a great partnership

Tbh the only bit I've seen of either of them is YouTube highlight videos but they do show the 2 in a good light, particularly Edjenguele (hope I've spelt that properly!)

Only time will tell I guess.

our defence was that good last season we lost two or three games last year in the last minutes i.e crystal palace if we had won them we still be in the championship.Myself i think we are going to have a stronger defence than last season against weaker attacks.pusb

I agree. Sell him now and move on.

Derby is about his level. He wasn't going to be first choice at Cardiff and I doubt he is good enough for a team challenging for promotion anyway.

I think you're wrong. Keogh's one of the best in the championship, the least he should be looking for is a team challenging up at the top.

I don't think he's anywhere near the best in the Championship, a good Championship defender yes but nowhere near the best

He's okay, no more, if he was one of the best in the Championship, then I'm sure that the best teams in the Championship would be clamouring for his signature.

They aren't.

It was the lack of experience around him that let him down. Best defender I've seen at the club since Roland Nilsson - if I've overlooked anyone let me know but I don't think I have.

Dann, Fox and Ward have played at higher levels than he is going.
