He's okay, no more, if he was one of the best in the Championship, then I'm sure that the best teams in the Championship would be clamouring for his signature.

They aren't.

I wholeheartedly agree here, which is the point I'd tried to make on the other Keogh thread about loyalty and the Clingan leaving Norwich to join us comparison.

Keogh, even at Cardiff, would have been a squad player. He may be a first team player at Derby. Might not. He strikes me he could be to Derby what Richard Wood is to us. Left a club where he could have been a hero to become a non-plussed squad member in a town where he'll be quickly forgotten

Dann, Fox and Ward have played at higher levels than he is going.

He's better defensively than all 3 of those and is certainly good enough to play in the Prem. That just comes from watching him on the pitch.

Had he not been part of a team that got relegated he may well be at a Premiership club right now. As I say, let down by the squad around him.

I don't think he'd be a squad player at Cardiff. In my opinion better than hudson, Gerrard and even turner. Just my opinion of course.

It was the lack of experience around him that let him down. Best defender I've seen at the club since Roland Nilsson - if I've overlooked anyone let me know but I don't think I have.

Scott Dann, Danny Fox, Robert Page, Elliott Ward, Ben Turner, Martin Cranie, Stephen Warnock,Calum Davenport, off the top of my head.

Though I don't suffer from the memory span of a goldfish, so was able to come up with some.

Let down by the squad around him? He was in our team that got relegated, therefore he is just as much to blame as anyone else.

On the Cardiff forums, all the talk was of them being settled in defence, and on the centre in particular, and that Keogh would purely be a squad addendum. I trust their view.

I don't subscribe to the accusation that Keogh was let down by all around him. In defence we were okay. We got relegated due to our inability to score and create chances

I haven't said anything like that?

As for being settled in defence, that's all very well and good for last season but there are things that can affect that such as injuries and form. Then, I believe, Keogh would improve their defence anyway, regardless of other factors.

The second bit wasn't aimed at you personally - and forgive me if it appeared so; more in response to other comments on the same thread

Brilliant and constructive. Tool

What do you want me to say? Best defender in the Championship? Haha, yeah, he's well better than the likes of Shackell, Wes Morgan, James Tomkins, Luke Chambers, Chris Gunter, Kasparss Gorkks, Jose Fonte, Jos Hoiiveld, Winston Reid, Curtis Davies, Alex Pearce.

Just off the top of my head, god, he wasn't even the best defender at our club last season.

You've just reeled off a number if defenders you've heard of! Probably never even seen them play! And, just so you read things properly next time and save your energy, I didn't say the best defender in the championship. Oh and what do I want you to say?! How about not being so obnoxious and patronising for a start - breaking news, people have a different opinion to you.

Keogh is average, what is it that makes him so good? His poor positioning that gets made up for by pace, determination and last ditch tackling? Or is it his long hopeless punts when in possession? He's a mid table Championship player at best.

I have heard it all now.

So Keogh was as much to blame as Fatwood? He should leave and find some fans that deserve a player like him that always gives 100%.

Ok. If you say so that's fine. Could've just said that in the first place though couldn't you? And then I'd still disagree, but what's the problem with that? I'm not going to agree with you, so why do you want me to?!

Keogh in the two biggest games of the season was diabolichal, Bristol away and Doncaster at home.

Oh well in that case I entirely agree with you. Well done, you've completely changed my mind because of 2 performances in nearly 100 games.

I think Martin Cranie is better than Richard Keogh anyway. Keogh certainly isn't the best defender we've had since we went down from the Prem, and with these 2 Frenchies plus a fit-again Wood and an ever-improving Cameron, we will be fine at centre back this season.

He was what?

Are you Brizzle or Cardiff in disguise and p!ssed off you never got him?

Or do you mean he is only average because he wasn't MOM every game?

I work some weekends. When I can I listen online to the games when I can't make it. I prefer to listen to the commentary for the other side. I suppose they were bigging him up for a reason other than playing well. This is not me looking at him as a player of my team. All game long he could be making clearances and starting attacks. If he is always out of possition how does he make so many clearances?

Cranie was better than Keogh, if I was to rate Keogh's season last year it was a 6.5 or a 7 if I'm being generous.

Some people are just massively overrating him, I'm not saying he's a bad player.

If the 2 new defenders are as good as the rave reviews then I don't think we will need to worry at all! Keogh was a fans favourite because of work rate, I think Cranie was the better footballer though.

Rave reviews? Against Hinckley, a side our youth team beat 8-0. Who on earth is giving them rave reviews?

It seems to me that you have got your head so far up your backside that it could come out of your neck again

This thread is absolutely incredulous ,the selective memory of folk trying to mittigate the reality of having to sell yet another top player from the squad to fund survival beggars belief .Oh wonderful hindsight ,and to those dissing him for performances in the run in ,half of the squad were playing with knocks ,including him .For a more balanced perception of the player ,maybe a visit to the CT site putting the Name Richard Keogh into the search engine
may yield a more accurate realtime assessment on the player, check out the testemonies in the comments section also ,so out of touch with reality on here!!!!!!
