European breakaway league (5 Viewers)

If you're as old as me you will remember when the big six were Forest, Vile, Leeds, Ipswich, Liverpool and Derby.
The current big six have gamed the system for long enough. Kick them out and allow new clubs to fill the void.
Of course they will need decent players so make joining the rebels punishable by players being banned for 5 years from other leagues and, crucially, representing their countries.

Bet it’s Liverpool. Their fans seem up in arms the most about it.
Not sure there owners give a fuck

Reckon it's man city, for all the money bags they've done a lot of work in the community by all accounts and invested a lot in academy and infrastructure.

Would be hilarious if ESL went ahead with very few fans in the ground whilst premier League matches have full stadiums

Spurs have struck gold with this... and they've just built an expensive stadium.
Smaller than villa and Everton too so they've landed on their feet with this ... it's not them

Arsenal are a big club but again they are way off the pace and can't guarantee champions league football anytime soon and another who've landed on their feet ... it's not them .

United a front runner for it so not them

Rashford has posted this on his twitter and Henderson has called an emergency meeting of all Premier League captains (not just the big six) for tomorrow. Players reportedly furious they were ambushed with this and are the ones being questioned by the media.

Apparently a German paper is saying Liverpool are on the verge of pulling out but its paywalled and in German so just going off second hand reports.

Yeah I'd go for City or Chelsea. The owners of those clubs are in it for the soft power, particularly City, whereas the Yanks want the more money.
There were rumours that they were both initially reluctant, but were scared of getting left behind if they didn't get on board.

Just can't see this going through now. Surely there is just too much backlash and opposition?

I've not seen all fans/pundits in the country being so united since it was agreed nationally Matty Godden has the best hair in football

All this league was missing was a couple of scum bag agents to come out and say at great idea it was

I think if one big club pulls out then it’ll fall to pieces. Reputation damage has been done for these owners though, can’t see how they will pull it back

Latest from The Times
Gary Neville said last night that he expected Man City were most likely to pull out first
The three American owned clubs are only in it for the money
But he made the point that City's owners have put millions into the community and transformed the area
You could say that they were 'sports washing' but it is a fact, they put money in rather than extract it like the Glazers in particular

If they get even a small concession going forward, it weakens the ties for whenever they try again - that's the fear.

I find it slightly ironic that ex premiership players are slating the greed of clubs. Surely they were all part of the grinding wheels of progress to where we are now - with their demands, with the help of their agents to broker a good deal for themselves in terms of theircontracts ? Football will eat it self through greed ....its not about the turnstile payer ...its about the armchair subsriber ...who ultimately this is what it's all about ?

They'll only be paid what somebody's prepared to offer.

Amazon have now issued a statement saying they have no involvement. DAZN have said similar. The response from Sky and BT suggests its not going to be them broadcasting it. BBC and ITV wouldn't be able to afford it. Who is left?

I was going to say I bet it's Man City. Reading the stuff they've done around Manchester and their PR offensive to be seen in a good light, plus they don't need the money.

Facebook. A pretty despicable organisation. Just about to move to an encryption model even though they know it will aid child molesters and the government is begging them not to
Money is all that matters to them

They could create their own streaming sites to get the content out there. The whole thing is a badly thought out way to make money by some desperate people, Real Madrid Barcelona both broke Juventus have a wage bill that I heard compared to an NBA or Nfl side and Manchester United and those total thieves the Glazers

Can these clubs pull out now? My understanding is that they had signed contracts to be part of this. Might be costly for them (what a shame:ROFLMAO:)

Love your City news, but you don’t half have some takes on current events.

The sort of money being offered, it's quite possible for teams to have entirely different squads for ESL and domestic league games if that manages to circumvent any sanctions imposed by the countries football associations.

That would be some interesting transfer negotiations. A choice of Prem football and representing you country but no European competition or ESL and can't play for England or in the Prem.

And the Little 14 have said they want the Big 6 to stay but certain individuals won’t be welcome (not trusted)...this could get hilarious !
