No excuses left for AT? (7 Viewers)

Last season the main defence for AT was that the squad was so awful and the owners so crappy that any manager was doomed to fail. Now, with a plethora of new signings and the guiding hand of Waggott, the fans are optimistic since we have the best squad in the league and anti-SISU sentiment has died down.

I guess this means that if we struggle again, there won't be any fans left with excuses to defend AT?

If we struggle then what else can he expect?

No other manager in recent memory has been given so much support. People on here have claimed he is the best manager since Sillet, priceless.

Err, these new signings have come at only the cost of the wages agreed and at the same time we have shipped out our better players. AT has a whole new team to gel, along with even more youngsters to get into the fold. Our average age must still be very low in the squad and anyway who has the credentials to call who has the best squad in the league. I still think we shall do well to finish top ten.

To say he's been given more than any manager in recent times is a bit of an overstatement. Even though I'm a Thorn supporter I agree we do need to produce some top six form in the first couple of months otherwise the pressure will quite rightly be on. He still needs to sign 2 more forwards though.

You all know my feelings on SISU and AT, but I must agree with the majority on this one.
AT needs to be given a minimum of 10 games to see if the team gels. If not, it will show what a shit manager he is, If the team DOES gel, and he can get them to make a concerted effort for a minimum play-off or better still automatic promotion, then I will be first in line to admit I was wrong.:)

Yeah, because sacking our manager during a poor run of form has served us fantastically as a policy over the years hasn't it?

Every manager sacked was heading for relegation. The replacement always kept the team up so yes it worked the one time we did not sack the manager we were relegated.

Then we should never have sacked any of our previous managers and placed a scout in charge.

Yeah, 'cus when can an ex-scout ever make it as a manager, eh? Oh, wait a minute, what's the name of that ex-scout from Ovarense who's now in charge of that second-rate Spanish outfit.

Jose, Jose...... neh; his name escapes me. You must be right

So who was our best manager since Sillett?

IMO the reason we've had so many managers is we've sacked everyone at the first sign of trouble, never given anyone a 6-7 year licence to fail and re-build. Hopefully AT's reign will provide the antitode to those obsessed with a quick fix formula.

Even if he managed us last season we'd have gone down.

Thorn has assembled a squad which he wants this summer with 2/3 more players to come in.

Thorn needs to have this current squad in the top 6 by Xmas at least. That for me is a minimum with the players we have assembled.

What we have seen in this scotland tour is no first choice strikers playing yet. Cody and Ball yet to run out for us.

He had as much support from the people that should have helped him as much as he has got from you.

He will get a clean slate from me. Last season I thought he was poor, this season it is a whole different ball game now he has got some players in, in a league lower!

Hahahahahaha. Surely you are taking the piss. I don't think Thorn should be sacked (at the moment anyway) but that is a ridiculous statement to make.

yes it is a ridiculous statement but not more ridiculous than this bullshit post from the thorn haters!!

One more striker, a creative midfielder.

No one else leaving. Top six or AT is not the man.

However if we don't get these signings and cody gets injured for six weeks or baker or sheff then forget the top six. Definately still need two more.

And if O'Donovan leaves don't say we need 3 more!

No him and jeffers can go. We just need a poacher. Ball can do the big man bit. But I would lose them two in order to get another poacher.

Just hope wood is staying and Brown will be a back up for defence and midfield. Somehow AT finds another Norwood.

Sorry im not buying it !!
We have lost half a team of championship quality players and they were all our better players.
Yes we have brought in players but they are not of the same quality.
