Yeah that's just saying that the India variant is crushing the SA and Brazil variants in the battle for 2nd behind the Man City like Kent variant

I mean technically some people still in their 30s are already eligible, like me cos I’m 40 before 1st July.

They seem to be absolutely flying through these. I wonder if it’s just easier to get people or if take up is lower, or just more supply.

Edit: just reading that and it’s saying they’re stockpiling 1m Pfizer a week for when they get to under 30s. Why not just start calling U30s now and get them jabbed?

You know what they mean though, this’ll be half of the 30-39s. I think it’s a combination of increased supply and a shift away from second doses as fewer of those are due in May.

Is supply now higher than March? Feels like we’re going faster now. I didn’t expect to get done before I was 40 on previous projections.

bit if both I would guess. I know some who’ve been called in early for second jabs which suggests there may be a higher cancellation rate in age categories

The second doses are rocketing up - it wasn’t long ago that we were level with rates of second jab with most European countries - now we are up to 22% with many euro countries stuck at 10%

Well, it'll explain why Mrs Wisdom got her call for second vaccine earlier than expected, so I assume it's doing second jabs for those Pfizerites first.

As and when Novavax is approved we’ll already have the doses made within the UK ready to be used right away. They get that done soonish we’ll beat the end of July target no problem

If the at risk section of the population require yearly boosters do you think they will stick with the same vaccine as people had for the first two or will the boosters be more mix and match?

I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point they’ll be a combined flu jab so you have one jab a year that covers seasonal flu and Covid 19.

Isn’t there more than 1 type of flu vaccine and more than 1 type of Covid vaccine? Not thinking that they’d combine two of the current available vaccines anyway, was thinking that at some point someone will develop a combined vaccine at some point simply for the reason it makes sense if both need doing on an annual basis.

Now having got the first... why on earth wouldn't you finish it off?!?

To be honest mate it’s been a shit show over here. You won’t be surprised to hear that originally and still now depending on the state it’s really only easy to get a vaccine if you’re able to constantly be at a computer and refresh, and able to go to a Walgreens or somewhere at random times of the day. Think nice cushdy office jobs and remote working and flexibility...

I had my first dose in one state but I was moving homes so moved to another state. I tried and tried and tried to cancel my second dose in state number 1 and couldn’t get through. Couldn’t work the online system to cancel it either. Just fucked them off in the end and hoped someone else got my jab (I’m sure they did, big queues of hopefuls at the end of the day). Got my second jab easy enough in state number 2.

Anyway...the NHS really is a blessing and we can be proud of the vaccine rollout in the UK.

Thing's like concert's not being able to go ahead.
I think we're paying for political machinations now.
The desire to present a government doing all in it's power to prevent what happened.

Think about it this way, another 2 weeks means another 6/7/8 million jabs and full immunity for the second jabs so far. Hold the course.

They have ordered 60 million Pfizer booster shots which will likely be engineered against the biggest variants of concern. The booster being different to the primer isn’t a big issue

The timing of the road map is to allow thes ientiststo analyse the effects of loosening restrictions, why deviate from it when we're nearly there and it appears to be working?

It's like with everything - most of the work is done a while before release date but they spend that time analysing/stress testing/looking for bugs and errors etc.

We've been too eager to come out of restrictions before only for it to bite us on the arse later and result in us having to reinstate restrictions and spend even longer under them.

We've got everyone zoned in on 17th May etc and although there are obviously some who won't ever be happy with a release date that wasn't yesterday it's been accepted in the main, so use that leeway you've bought yourself to be sure. Why bring in forward by such a short period of time for a short popularity boost just to potentially harm the overall plan.

Don't spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar.

That’s because while the Yanks have very good supply they’ve just distributed it first come first served rather than systematically going down the ages and vulnerabilities. Someone we know over there is 27, perfect health and already had two jabs four weeks apart.

Getting contacted by people wanting to do free for all gatherings in June. Good chance I still won’t have immunity by then and Mrs BSB definitely won’t, so we’re declining. Not going to let a last minute COVID infection scupper the wedding.

I won't be comfortable doing such things until all people involved have been vaccinated. It's not perfect, so I'd rather depress things down both on my side, and other peoples' side really - as much so I've done as much as I can, and don't finish other people off for the sake of a week or two!
