Is Neil Morley the odd guy on the wasps forum who hates SBT ?

No idea, but can only assume tweets like that and those that sometimes get sent into CWR are just on the wind up

Still nothing on the seats and whether they'll be changing colour. Why am I worried about this?!
Doubt they can afford to change the seats, will probably move the dark blue Ricoh seats around to spell CBS. Would you even be able to fit Coventry Building Society in?

Plus CBS logo is blue so not like they'll be pushing for a colour change.

Hope all traces of Ricoh are removed from exterior and interior of the stadium properly and we're not left looking at ghost signage for the next 10 years until we move into the planned new stadium. 😂😂😂

I bet the road signs will never be changed in Coventry. In 40 years time you'll still see signposts for 'Ricoh Arena'.

Just had a quick look on their forum to see what they thought of it. They really do live in a dreamland. Talking about how it will drive up support and how we won't be getting a cut as we'll be leaving (we have a 10 year deal and its a 10 year sponsorship so not sure how they've worked that out).

I'm sure there's loads of people who previously never attended that can't wait to go to a Wasps game now the stadium name has changed :ROFLMAO:

We can both move forward and still hold the opinion that Wasps are scum who don't belong in the city. I'll never stop hoping they piss off but its not something I'll let ruin my matchdays.

Surely it’s less likely now than and any point in the last few years?

I'd say it's more likely. There's a large RICOH in dark seats that needs to come out and need placing...they need to do that. If they need to change those, wouldn't it make sense to do them all at the same time?

I'm not sure cost will be a concern - they'll get money from the sponsorship deal itself as well as this grant that goes to 'improving' the Arena. I hope you're right about just moving them around but like I said above, they'll need to change a portion of the seat colours to get rid of the word Ricoh - it would be the logical time to change them all if they wanted to do it.

You know what it's like with us - good news (back to the Ricoh) is normally followed up with crap news (seats changing to Black and Yellow etc).

A very long winded way of saying they can't afford to change the colour of the seats.

While the iconic 'Ricoh' lettering on the exterior of the stadium is set to go, there are no major plans to the interior of the stadium, aside from switches of name where the old sponsor is used to its successor.

Wasps Group chief executive Stephen Vaughan pointed to the Coventry Building Society's own colour scheme, which incorporates light and dark blue, as a factor in the seats remaining as they ahead of Coventry City's return to the stadium ahead of the 2021/22 Championship season.

"The main change will be obvious," said Mr Vaughan. "It will be when you drive past on the M6 or the A444 you’ll see the name Coventry Building Society and their lovely logo. Everything in the stadium will change where it was Ricoh previously, it will be Coventry Building Society.

"But we’re not going to be changing the colour of the seats, they are what they are, they’re sky blue, as it happens Coventry Building Society is sky blue as well. Our new relationship with Coventry City as well, kind of endorses that.

“Lockdown probably brings these things into focus, I think there are a lot more important things to worry about and to start spending our money on than to start changing the colour of the seats."

Happily I pre-empted this by moving my mortgage to Nationwide last year.
I'll still be calling the ground the Richo though. Or the Rioch. Or most likely The Gasworks.
Just hoping they don't change too many seats to that nauseating black & bile colour they play in.

The branding police at the Building Society will probably do their damdest to ensure it is not called the Coventry Arena or Stadium. That implies no branding at all, just a geographical location, and that is not what they are paying for. So expect the likes of Jeff Stelling to be quite precise about its name. Expect the expression 'Building Society' to be in there.

How can a local mutual sponsoring the stadium we play in be bad news? Seems clear it wouldn't have happened without us there so to twist it as "they're backing Wasps" is f*cking stupid.

To answer earlier questions (I worked for them for 12 years), Yes they were branded as "The Coventry" for a while. Would have made the stadium name better if they still were. It's only ever going to be "The Coventry Stadium" (or the Ricoh!)

Jeff Stelling reporting on Coventry City using the Wasps sponsors name fucks me off.

This and their Hummel deal smacks of those parasites jumping on the back of our Championship status.

Let's hope we're getting more than just a place to play out of our return

could have been worse, could have been the Durex stadium and full of spunk bubbles.

Here's a FoI from Stoke when they changed road signs from Britannia to bet365. The cost was funded by the club, but 365 own them... So perhaps it will be joint funded by CBS & the rugby club.

Why? This would all have been priced into the rental agreement assuming someone more competent than a chimp negotiated it. You don’t get it twice.

which is what I mean, they're obviously taking advantage of our return, we need some remuneration in whatever form it takes.

Its part of the rent though. Let’s say Arena Park rent a unit to, I dunno, Five Guys. Five Guys will be in that meeting saying “we bring footfall, we bring cache to your shopping centre, give us lower rent”. I’d hope CCFC have already done that.

I'm no expert, but when you can't drive up crowds when you give away thousands of free tickets, a stadium sponsorship deal with the local building society isn't going to do it.

I'm agreeing, if it's not part of the rent, which I agree it more than likely is, then it needs to be from some other source.

Don't know how folk have the patience to deal with people like that. Who has authorised not having a capital letter at the beginning? Fuck off mate.
